《How I Survived (Zombie Story)》Chapter Twenty Three

••••••••••••••••••••••••••
I woke up from inside the road trip van, I could tell the van wasn't moving, plus it was empty. We must've made it to another Pitt stop.
I stood up, and grabbed the small pistol from the table, and opened the sliding door of the van.
We were parked in front of a small gift shop/thrift shop as you may call it. It was very cloudy out.
Miranda was staring at pairs of jeans trying to decide. She looked at me and waved me over.
I walked over to her. "What."
"Which ones." She says.
Not really an apocalypse based conversation, but I just chose the blue ones. "Hey, are you sure you're okay?" She asks.
"Yea," I assure. "Mhm.." She nods. "Where is everyone?" I ask. "Inside searching for stuff, like food and clothes." She mumbles.
I nod. I walk into the small store. The place was a wreck. Legit. Jone was searching a zombie body, and Ricko was checking the shelves. The others were wondering around glancing at things.
I decided to walk off my sleepiness, and glance at the fake fossils they had displayed on shelves.
I grabbed the seashell from the shelve and placed my ear against it. I couldn't hear anything.
"Boo!" Someone shouts. I raise my gun to the person. "Whoa!" Hunter whispers, "calm down." He says. Surprised, I put my gun away.
"Stop scaring me... I could've shot you." I mumbled annoyed. He smiles and takes a seashell also, and places it to his ear.
"I hear... Oh, look." He says. He pulls a small diamond looking object from the seashell. He offers me the shiny object.
"What is that?" I ask, taking it from him. "It's a diamond of some sort... The store owner must've had it hidden behind the desk." He says.

"And why are you giving it to me..?" I ask. There was an awkward silence.
"Never mind..." I mumble, I turn my back to him and start to search the next shelves, while still staring at the diamond... Its value didn't matter anyway... Mostly everyone was dead... So...
"Wait," Hunter said and stepped in front of me. He pulled out a small necklace string and took the diamond from my hands. He tied the string around it and smiled. "Turn around.." He said.
I sighed and turned around and he moved my hair away from my neck and tied the necklace around my neck.
"Thank you," I said.
"You are welcome." He says, and sighs. "Do you think we'll find my sister?" He asks. "Most likely.." I say, and grab a small souvenir map, looking at it.
"I hope so.." He says.
"Don't worry. I'm pretty sure the hospital moved all the patients to the safe place..." I say.
"What is that?!" A loud voice cried.
I and Hunter turned and ran towards the voice. Beverly was pointing at the cellar door. The shelf that was hiding it had been moved.
"Uh... A cellar door." Lucy says sarcastically.
"No.. What's in it.." Bella says from behind me.
"I don't know.. Open it!" Beverly says. I flinch as she gives my shoulder a push. "And why should I open it?" I ask.
"I don't know because you're the leader, I guess." She says. Ali looked at me, with wide eyes, and I started to step towards the cellar door.
"What's going on?" Jone asks.
"It's a cellar door," Miranda says.
Jone steps up to it. He kneels down, and touches it, he stood and wiped the dust off of his fingers. "It's locked anyway." He says.

"Oh..." Beverly whispers, staring at the cellar with curiosity. "We should get moving," Jone tells us all. Miranda and Olivia look over at me. "That was strange," Olivia says.
"It was." Miranda agrees.
"It's probably just a food cellar," I assure.
"Sure," Miranda says, looking at me. "Look, I know how horrifying things seem now, but I don't think there's a human slicing room beyond that trap door," I say.
Hours passed by, and we were soon back in the truck. I hadn't killed or seen many walkers... Maybe scattered in the endless roads were traveling.
The weather was hot. Speaking of weather... The school year was close to ending anyways. One month away.
And then, Bam. Goodbye exams. Hello, guns.
Jone spread a map on the table. "We aren't that far away from this radio station," Jone says air quoting the words radio station.
"We've been traveling for 2 days. I'm pretty sure those people are dead." Lucy says.
"Way to go being our hope.." Miranda mumbles.
"I don't think we should check the radio station," Todd speaks up. Even though they weren't the leaders, the still felt eager to speak up... I wish they'd volunteer to take my place because being Jone's backup was pretty annoying.
"And... Why not?" Ricko asks.
"I don't know man.. Sounds like bad luck." He says.
Beverly touches Todd's shoulder for him to quiet down, but he only gets louder. "We can't trust many people out there."
"But, we trusted you and your group. And we are trusting that Rick isn't sick." Jone says. Ricko's eyes hit mines, and I look at Jone.
"He's not sick," I say. "Yea. I'm pretty sure he would've bit us by now.." Bella says.
"Yea... I would really hate to be bitten by him." Miranda adds.
"I'm right here!" Ricko says annoyed. Jone shoots up a hand. For everyone to be quiet.
"What is that?" Miranda whispers.
"The radio!"
