《How I Survived (Zombie Story)》Chapter Sixteen

We dunk down as we start into the Walmart. Miranda beside me, and Jone on the other side of Miranda.
We step in. Most of the zombies were standing around, wandering around, and searching for something to eat.
Then I hear the talking from the office in the back of the Walmart.
"Leave her alone!"
"Shut up Carles! All you do is ruin things. If I don't kill her now... Then she'll go back telling the group!"
"Just let her come with us!"
"No! I refuse to let. Some girl, take control of your mind."
"Put the gun dow-" the voice is cut off by a loud gunshot.
"Oh my god.." Miranda whispers.
"No.," Jone says, and takes off to the back of Walmart. "Jone wait!" I whisper. He stumbles on a piece of wood and several zombies turn, but go back to whatever they were doing.
"We have to go too." Miranda says and also takes off. I follow behind her, and we both burst into the door with Jone.
Kylia and Carles were standing there.
"Who's that?" Miranda asks.
"Who are you?!" Jone asks.
"Not again.." He whispers.
I notice the dead body on the ground, fresh blood puddling around his head.
"Bye," Kylia tells us.
Confused, I start to say what, but Jone grabs Kylia's arm.
"Kylia stop!" He says.
"What are you doing?" Jone asks.
"I'm leaving." She deadpans. "If I leave with you guys, I'll end up dead." She says.
Charles nods. "No offense but you guys have no sense of survival instinct." I roll my eyes at him.
"Kylia what about your brother?" I ask.
"He has you." She says softly.
"No. Kylia you need him," I say. "Running off with some... Dude isn't gonna solve a thing."

I heard a loud bang on the door, and Miranda swallows. "We need to hurry." Carles grabs Kylia and they both dart out the door.
Jone runs towards the door, and he tugs on the handle. "They locked it from the outside..." He says.
"We're gonna die.." Miranda whispers.
"No! There are stairs right there." I say once I notice the set of stairs leading to the roof. Zombies burst through the doors, and we run up the stairs.
Once we're out, Jone shuts the door, and we jump off the building.
My leg burned from the jump, but I jogged it off.
The van had already left to the amusement park. Guess we had to walk. In the... Dark.
But we had guns.
"You know. This is really scary." Miranda says while we walk down the city roads.
"Can't believe she's gone.." Rick mumbles.
"Already... We lost a group member." He says.
Jone ties his long hair into a ponytail. And takes off his jacket. His muscles could literally be seen under his black shirt in the dark. Well, we were standing under a street light. I blush and quickly glance away.
"What do we tell Kyle?" Miranda asks.
"Just tell him she didn't make it." Jone decides.
"What?!" Miranda says, "why?"
"Because if we tell him she's alive... He'll go looking for her and end up dead."
"I guess you're right.," Miranda admits.

Runicka: Tournament of Monsters (A GameLit Card Game Fantasy)
The runes are changing, and with it, the game itself changes. Taygion Ardwella finds himself stranded, alone, and on the run from some very determined guards who claim Tay's stolen from them. They're right, but that shouldn't mean Tay has to give back what he took. He's only been in Stormwall for a week and already, he's earning the ire of the most powerful and notorious House that controls the city's underground. And when their scion challenges Tay to a duel of cards, Tay will find himself thrust into a game of sorcery and strategy as he attempts to both find a way out of this mess and find his own way in the world. To do both, he'll need to learn to accept guidance and coaching where it's sorely needed, craft a deck of unimaginable power, and not die whenever his opponents try and cheat him out of a hard-earn victory. But not all is as it seems in the shadows of Stormwall, and if Tay can figure out the importance of what it is he's stolen, he may just have a chance at saving the game of Runicka. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Runicka: Tournament of Monsters is a high fantasy, card game-based adventure novel with enough magic, worldbuilding, and characters to fill a Sanderson series. I would consider it a part of the GameLit subgenre. This series in particular is not an isekai, and will start and end in a high fantasy setting complete with its own lore and backstory. It is a progression fantasy, and I am writing it inspired by all the Yu-Gi-Oh mangas/animes, and all the hours I've invested/wasted (depending on who you ask) playing TCGs like Yu-Gi-Oh and Magic: The Gathering. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This is a work in progress. In your journey through Stormwall alongside Tay, you'll probably find typos, grammatical errors, and maybe a confusing sentence every once in a while (although I hope to keep these to a minimum). That said, comments and suggestions on where I can improve are not only encouraged but greatly appreciated. And finally, expect new chapters every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~**Currently on a small hiatus. I have a bit of a workplace crisis going on. I'm still writing, but I don't have time to polish and publish. Chapters will return on a regular basis soon though!!**
