《How I Survived (Zombie Story)》Chapter Two- Breakout

I breathed in deeply, attempting to catch my breath, my eyes glancing around and Miranda looked at me as if I was insane.
"Are you okay?!" She yells and shakes my shoulders.
"Yea... Miranda... I just ran nine laps, and I'm tired." I mutter.
"What if zombies were chasing you?!" She asks randomly.
"Right now?" She asks.
Zombies? I don't want to run at all, and I really really, don't want to run from zombies. I know one thing, if fast zombies were chasing me, I would be running like a freaking athlete.
I think about me running like an athlete, and she elbows me. "Snap out of it!" She yells.
"Miranda zombies aren't real, the only possible way they can be real is if, someone got infected.." I trail off.
The virus, the news warning. The disappearance, the strange acting. The man this morning..
Miranda's eyebrows scrunch up in confusion. "Chill." She says, touching my shoulder. I nod. She understood the virus's ways.
"What's going on?" She asks soon.
I look and notice the Coach staring at the class uncomfortable, and nervous? The coach had never been nervous. Well, just like teachers say, desperate times call for desperate measures. So I pulled out my phone and texted my best friend Olivia.
I place my phone back in my pocket, and it vibrates quickly. I take it out again and check the text message.
I lean back, scared, and I jump when I feel Miranda breathing on my neck. "I'm about to freak out." She yells.
"Miranda!" I whisper.
She shrugs, and her eyes widen, "I just said something about zombies too, and... There is a zombie in this school!" She whispers, she punches my shoulder.
Ow." I mumble, scared. "Miranda.. this is not happening.." I whisper.
"We need a plan." Miranda mumbles.
Everything starts racing through my mind, my family, my mom, and my little sister Sammy. I had a lot of scared questions.
A) Where were they? B) Safe or not? C) What would happen? D) Would our principal actually keep us safe?
I sigh anxiously... "Miranda... We have to plan this out.." I whisper.
"Anyways.." She mumbles.
"We need to pull together a group. A small one, with at least seven people... I know that's hard." I say.
"The only person I need is Kylia." She says, Kylia, one of our friends. Her twin brother also attended this school, two of the richest twins at the school.
"I need Olivia and Olivia can add more people.." I mumble chewing my bottom lip, in thought.
"Kylia, Olivia... Hunter." I say. When I said Hunter, Miranda shot me the dead eye. "Why?!" She asks.
"He is nicer than he seems."
"He'll have cheerleaders clinging all over him," Miranda says.
She did have a point.
"Still Hunter, anyways, Jone and Rick, and Lucy. And that's it." She says noting a couple of students that attending zero or more of my classes.
"How are we gonna get them and then escape-"
"I barely even know how to drive a flipping car...!" I whisper.
"Lara... The car wouldn't be flipping." Miranda says.
"Ooh! Can I be in your group!? What are y'all talking about??"
"Nothing Bella," I say.

"And add Bella too!" Miranda says.
"Okay.." I mumble.
Suddenly the class intruders of other students fill the gym. My eyes scan for Olivia. Olivia sees me first, her blonde hair
She runs towards me and Miranda and I see how worried her face is.
"I don't even know what to do or say..." She mumbles.
"It's okay. Lara and I put together a plan." Miranda says.
"You did?" Olivia says. "We did?!" Miranda asks, her eyes meeting mine. Olivia looks at the floor, nervous. I shoot Miranda a "assure her look."
"Kinda... Sorta... Maybe.." Miranda says looking at me.
Suddenly Olive points to the doors. Miranda and I turn, and see the principal come in and they start blocking the door with objects.
Like tables, chairs, desks, basketball holders, and other crap.
I pinch my arm gently, hoping I'd wake up if it was possible. Wake up in social studies class, to find out I fell asleep during the teacher's long talk about Politicians or Egyptians.
What if the zombie girl was Lor? After all, Lor did seem sick... She looked sick too.
I bite my lip too. The principal walks to the center of the gym.
They didn't block the back doors to the gym... What if they were gonna get all of us, seniors and all, onto the buses and hall us out?
Do they think everyone is gonna want to follow the rules? I meant yea or course Miranda, Me and Olivia are going to...
Once the whole high school is seated on bleachers, the principal talks.
"Students of Manor High... We ask of you not to panic, but we will clear you out into the buses and take you to a safe zone, where hopefully you'll be united with your guardians." She continues,
(The key word was hopefully.)
"The virus, has been getting worse-" a series of gasp is heard and I hear a soft bang from the back door of the gym... I lean toward Olivia.
"Olivia.," I whisper.
She doesn't hear me.
"Everyone! Pay attention.." She says.
I notice that the doors were being banged on violently now, I was sitting in the bleachers near the door, so I heard the audible groans of the creatures... I tap Olivia and when she turns her head, the door flies open, it hits the brick wall, with a loud bang.
Olivia's mouth gapes open in horror as figures walk in, dead looking people, crumbled in awkward positions as they made their way in.
Everyone around us screams and runs down the bleachers to the boarded door.
Students were ripping the objects down, to escape from the figures. At least 20 were filling the doors from the parking lot, different citizens, zombified citizens, were coming in, and Oh for the sake of Jesus... Some were running, just like an athlete.
I had been stuck in my sitting position, holding on to a black bar, and I saw the most unpleasant sight, a cheerleader girl was having her guts eaten, by a high school jock. The girl lets out one last scream, and I cringe, thinking I'm gonna be sick.
Olivia grabs my hand and drags me from my surprised and shocked position. We run to Miranda who is near the safety exit door no one had run to yet, but once they figure the new idea, they began to bring chaos to the exit door.

Miranda was kicking at the door.
When Miranda managed to get it open, a whole group of dead people was waiting. They slowly started in, one running too from the back of the parking lot.
I start to yell for everyone to move but I am cut off as I hear a loud scream. I turn to the principal to see a zombie eating the principal.
"Let's get out of here!" Olivia yells once she notices students fleeing through the gym door. I run and so do they.
People were being trampled by all types of students.
Miranda turns to me, "Janitor closet down the hallway!" She yells. I nod and she takes off, so does Olivia.
They were too fast.
I start to run but someone grabs my hand. A zombie. It hissed and I screamed and reached into my pocket with my free hand and stabbed it in the forehead with a pencil that was not too long ago, sharpened.
It growls and leans it's head back to bite me. Suddenly the zombie is hit by an artificial sword with the school logo sign on it. The sword went right through the bloodthirsty monster's back.
The zombie staggers back and falls into the window, it breaks and soon a herd of zombies is at the broken window, crawling in.
I look at the person that had killed the zombie. Hunter, he dropped the sword and hugged me in the middle of chaos. He pulls away quickly.
"Oh god! Thank you!" I yell.
"I'm following you!" He indicates over the screams around us.
I nod, and someone grabs my hand. It was Bella, who was freaking out. She was frozen, her eyes wide and her hands were pressed against her face.
"Let's go!" Hunter yells and grabs my hand. He must've known we were going to the janitor's closet. The school halls were chaotic. Students screaming, mental students sitting in the corners of halls waiting to be eaten.
Kylia and Kyle run to us, we were about to go through the doors of the kitchen, since the cafeteria doors were blocked off. "Guys! The teacher staff is being attacked!" Kylia yells, her eyes stained with tears.
"Yea! My sister and I are going with you, those jerk students locked the staff room so we had to make a run for it." Kyle says, panting.
"Okay..." I say looking at Hunter and Bella. They all seemed to be following me.
The hall behind the doors of the lunchroom kitchen was empty, the chaotic stuff was back, back in the main halls, but the screams still played in my head, over and over again. Suddenly I see the shadow of one of the zombies. "Let's go!" I shout.
We walk through the kitchen doors... If this wasn't like the scene from the movie The Crazies, then I don't know what it was from, Saw maybe.
There were no lights on, there was a cast of blue over the kitchen, the big room with cooking boxes and aisles looked empty. It wasn't my first time in here.
I was sent different times to give the lunch ladies that work in here, stuff. We all dunk down. Kylia and Kyle behind me and Hunter and Bella.
I heard a chewing sound, which made me cringe. Then I heard the wrinkle of paper.
I turned behind me to see Bella stuffing her face with a granola bar. The crums were scattered on her face.
"What?" She whispered.
Hunter and I stare at her. "It makes me less scared.." Bella whispers, her eyes getting wide.
"Whatever floats your boat..." I manage to whisper, relieved a zombie wasn't in here.
I peek into the aisle which wasn't covered with boxes and discover lunch lady, groaning and walking around slowly, her back to us.
"There's one," I tell Hunter.
"I'll take her ou-" He's cut off by the quick turn of her head.
Afraid and fearful tears threatened my eyes.
It was the scariest thing I ever saw. She had deep sockets and no eyeballs. I gasp and cover my mouth, shifting on my feet, suddenly I step on the crumbled up candy paper.
How terrifying, what I was seeing.
The zombie lady was crouched and crawling around. It's growls made me hold onto Hunter's hand. He was like my hero or something so far.
If I were him, I'd leave me, because it's my fault this freaky lunch lady is about to kill us.
Hunter held onto me and Bella held onto my arm.
It wondered in front of us. This thing was blind. It's eye holes were deep and dark, so it couldn't see us, a shiver runs down my back.
"Don't move," Hunter whispers when he notices it couldn't see us.
"On the count of three... We run through the kitchen exit, into the cafeteria doors.." He whispers.
"One.." He whispers.
"Three!!" Kyle yells from behind us.
We take off like scared children. The lunch lady screaming and screeching, and crawling around quickly after us, I never thought of zombies being able to crawl quickly, it was terrifying.
We burst through the kitchen exit. Bad idea...
Zombies were surrounded by a screaming girl, who was being beaten to death. My eyes had widened with terror as I looked around, not knowing what was going on for a moment.
We run to the janitor room and burst in. Once everyone is in, I shut the door, breathing deeply. I was out of breath.
I sighed and looked at Miranda, Olivia and Lucy, Jone and Ricko were with them already, and they were already waiting for us.
"I'm scared..." Bella whispers, her eyes looking around.
"I think I just peed my pants," Kyle says, conversing with Bella. Bella nods, her mascara covered eyes, afraid also. She had mascara running down her cheeks from crying.
So this was our high school group? Miranda, Me, Olivia, Lucy, Jone, Ricko, Hunter, Bella and Kylia and Kyle. Ten people... Okay... Ten people we barely hang out with... I don't know Jone, Kylia or Ricko, but we all had one thing in common now, one goal: Get the hell out of this school, and figure out what is going on.
Suddenly we heard loud bangs on the wooden door, and everyone began to move back into the wall, so did I. Jone had stood in front of us, to defend us from them.
Ten people, a big buffet to the zombies...

The 48 Laws of Power in Practice
Discover how power works in the world, through true stories and real-world applications. In the game of power, we all play - as either conscious or unconscious players. So we can't afford not to know the rules. The ** chapters have the most outrageous content. In each chapter, I will be summarizing one of the laws and how it can be applied to current events and pop culture. Some of you have told me the stories are what you enjoy the most. They are real, raw, and anonymous so that others may learn from my mistakes. There will be cringe-worthy stories of self-sabotage, but perhaps also some unlikely triumphs. Some of the details are changed to protect the innocent, (or perhaps guilty). "The 48 Laws of Power" by Robert Greene illustrates truths about power, through philosophy and lessons from three thousand years of history, which still hold true today. There is a lot to learn from each chapter. I encourage you to go on this journey with me by reflecting on how each law might apply to you. Together, may we learn from the past and take control of the future.
