《A New Beginning - Warren Worthington III (REWRITING)》Chap. 12 - I Want To Be With You

You wake up the next morning in an incredible mood. You had slept so soundly that when your alarm clock rang you almost jumped out of bed, reinvigorate by a sudden joie de vivre. This happiness and energy you felt took you by surprise, especially after the gloomy evening you had spent worrying about Warren. But the events of the night had been enough to totally wipe out every bad memory you could have. Excited, you changed and get washed quickly, hoping to see Warren before your first classes of the morning. As you moved across the room, humming, you could feel Ororo's eyes on you, staring at you from her bed as if you were the strangest person alive. You could understand why she felt that way considering she had seen you get to bed totally depressed and wake up in a joyful mood. Twice, you had considered telling her about last night but twice you came to the conclusion it would be better if you saw Warren first. In fact, it was something you were starting to worry about: did the kiss mean the same thing for the both of you? Did it mean you were a couple now? It felt both strange and exhilarating to think about the two of you like that. But maybe you would not have to talk; in fact talking was the last thing you had on your mind. The recollection of the kiss, still fresh in your mind, made you bring your hand to your lips, grinning.

"What the hell is wrong with you?" Ororo finally asked you, eyes wide open. "You're starting to freak me out!"

You gave her a radiant smile and got out of the bedroom, shouting: "See you at lunch!"

As you were walking away, you heard her shouting back: "You're crazy!"

It made you chuckle: you might be crazy. In fact, when you thought about it, you had to admit that Warren was... well, that he was different. He was more mature, experienced and dangerous than most boys in this school. More damaged too. Life has not been easy on him and maybe it was naive of you to think you could help him get better. There was still a lot you did not know about him. Even with what he confessed last night, there was still so much blanks in his story. How did he end up trapped in Germany, fighting other mutants? What did he mean about one of his wings being burnt? About Apocalypse giving him new wings? How was his family? You did not expect much from this last subject as it was considered touchy by a lot of people here. Let's just say that some had very comprehensive parents, and others, not so much. But, going back to Warren, when you thought deeply about it, he was not a safe choice. Your brain was almost shouting at you that one way or another he would break your heart. But this stupid heart of yours did not care at all. All he wanted was him, no matter what. And considering how Warren kissed you last night, you were pretty sure he wanted you too.

This memory made you quicken the pace, your entire body aching to touch him again. You had twenty minutes before your lessons so you walked straight to his bedroom, not knowing who you would find. In front of the door, you hesitated a second. What would you say if it was Scott or Peter that would open? You brushed this off your mind; they must be in class right now. You knocked on the door, several times: no answer. You looked in the corridor, watching if any teachers were in sight, and because they were none you entered. Teachers did not allowed students to be alone in a bedroom, which was considerably hard given the number of teenagers in this school. In this particular case, they had nothing to worry about since you found Warren sleeping on his bed; Kurt, Peter and Scott, nowhere to be found. Getting closer to him, you realized he had not move since you had left him last night. You sighed, resigned to have to wait for him to wake up. You were about to leave the room when you noticed something on his nightstand that was not there before. You got closer and realized it was the framed photograph you had given him, that afternoon on the roof. It lifted your spirits more than you would have expected. It was turned toward his pillow and you pictured him looking at it before going to sleep. You smiled unconsciously and left the room, ready to wait a few more hours if need be.

Sitting on an uncomfortable wooden chair, you were trying to listen to the history lesson. Unfortunately, it was incredibly boring. The time seemed to stretch out; making one hour feels like three. It was to be 12 soon and you had not seen Warren of the morning yet. He had been supposed to be in class with you but he had not come, making you wonder if it was because he was still sleeping or if he was deliberately skipping it to avoid you. So, as soon as the professor said the class was over, you bounce out of your chair and headed for his bedroom. This time, you found it empty. Your heart froze for an instant, afraid about what it could mean. Closing the door behind you, you started to think about where he could be. Nothing came to your mind so you wandered down the hall, looking inside every room you could find. Quickly, you reached the dining hall. A lot of students were already gathering in it to eat but not the winged one you were desperately looking for. A scary thought came to your mind.

What if he did not remember any of last night?

It was something you were dreading. How would you react? Would you tell him everything or would you keep your mouth shut, too hurt to say anything? You had no idea and you did not want to find out.

Turning around from the dining hall, you tried to think of somewhere else to look for him when you heard a familiar voice calling your name. Your heart jumped in your chest, recognizing the voice before your brain could. Turning away, you saw Warren coming toward you, a shy smile on his lips.

"I've been searching for you everywhere." He said when he arrived in front of you, his beautiful blue eyes locking with yours.

You heart skipped a beat when you realized you were the one he was looking at with such adoration. It was not the first time he was looking at you that way but you were not used to it. No other boys had ever looked at you that way before.

Moved, you tilted your head as you answered: "Well, I've been looking for you too, actually."

An idiotic smile came to your lips but you did not care. He remembered. Maybe he did not remember the entire night but the kiss he did. You could tell by the way his eyes lingered on your lips as you talked.

Meeting your gaze again, he leant over you, his hand brushing against yours. Hesitantly, he asked:

"Could we go somewhere less crowded?"

His offer took you by surprise. You quickly looked around you and realized how many students were walking around to meet in the dining hall. It was far from being intimate. At least not intimate enough for what you wanted to happen. Feeling yourself blush, you replied:

"I'd love to."

Warren's lips curled up in a smile at your answer. Taking your hand in his, he led you into the corridor, far away from the dining hall and the others students. Biting your bottom lip, you clutched his hand harder, trying to calm yourself down. Looking discreetly at him, you realized his hair was a mess, his blond curls going in every direction. A sudden urge took you to run your hand through it, to make his thick curls behave but you resisted it, focusing on the floor under you feet. During this time, Warren was focused on finding an empty classroom. After four tries, he found an isolated one, almost at the end of the corridor. It was empty so he took you in with him.

Your heart started to beat quickly in your chest as he closed the door behind you. You just had the time to notice the many tables and chairs before Warren pinned you up against the door gently with a hand on your waist, his body pressing against yours. He studied your face for a few seconds while his other hand was caressing your cheek. His face, inches from yours, made you gaze down at his lips, expecting him to kiss you at any time. As soon as your eyes had drifted toward his mouth, Warren had moved his face closer, brushing faintly his lips against yours. Your breath got stuck in your throat. But Warren did not put his lips on yours completely and you realized he was waiting for you to close the distance. Closing your eyes, you kissed him. Your hand rising to his chest, Warren kissed you back, pushing your head against the door softly. His heart was beating as fast as yours but his lips were moving slowly against yours in a soft and tender kiss. It felt so different from last night: every touch he made was gentle and tender and not hungry and passionate but you realized it felt just as good. When you felt his lips parting away from yours, you sighed: you could have kissed him forever. Reluctantly, you opened your eyes and found Warren looking deeply at you. You wondered if he was as disconcerted as you were and not fully believing it was finally happening. Last night, you had had no time to see it happening, but this kiss... You knew it was coming and the waiting was as thrilling as the kiss itself.

Wrapping your arms around his neck, you smiled. You radiated happiness, making you feel like nothing was important anymore as long as you had him by your side. You wished you could tell him how you felt but you could not find the right words and you did not have the time to think about it more because Warren whispered:

"I'm sorry about yesterday."

"Sorry about what?" You inquired, confused.

"Everything."

"You shouldn't. We wouldn't be here otherwise."

"You're too good for me." He murmured, resting his forehead on yours and closing his eyes. "What did I do to deserve you?"

"Nothing, it was meant to be."

He chuckled faintly. "That's cheesy as hell."

"I know." You answered, chuckling too.

Warren faced you again, serious: "What I told you last night, I believe it. I'm not the best person for you and I wouldn't blame you if you wanted to change your mind, not after what I confessed."

"Don't ever say that again." You said firmly."You are a good person, Warren. You made bad choices in your past but it's not because of that that you shouldn't be happy now. Those actions, they do not define who you are. You've changed. And the person you are now is the one I have feelings for. No matter what you can say, it won't change that. I see you for who you are, how much you want to make a difference. You train harder than everybody else, trying to prove that you're not the same person anymore. I've seen it and others have too. Stop blaming yourself for your past because you're the only one doing it."

You had moved your hand to his cheek, caressing his soft skin. Your eyes locked with his.

"I'm not going to change my mind. Not now not ever. I want to be with you, Warren."

As you finished talking, you could see the deep impact of your words on him. It was uplifting, reassuring. He had always had doubts about how much you felt for him: if it was some small crush that would disappear as fast as it had appeared or if it was something deeper, something so strong that it would be enough for you to see past his bad actions and see the man he really was. And now he had his answer.

Relief and love fought each other in his eyes as he leaned over you again, pressing a soft kiss on your lips.

"I want to be with you too." He whispered softly before kissing you again.

His hand burying in your hair in a soothinggesture, you moved your hand from his cheek to his hair. Tugging slightly athis curls, you heard him moan faintly against your mouth. His kisses quicklybecame more passionate, but even then his caresses were still tender. He wantedto enjoy this moment, he would not rush things. And it was good enough for you.
