《Fandom Imagines and Preferences V》Tom Kent- Sad (c)

You entered the staff room, your heart heavy and your energy drained. Making your way over to the sofa, you fell down onto it, holding your head in your hands, trying your best to not cry but needing a moment away from your work to clear your head. You hoped that you would have a couple of minutes of silent to let yourself think over what was causing you such pain and hope to wash it off, so that you could return to work, but you weren't so lucky.
Having been sat down for not even a minute, the door opened revealing Tom, your boyfriend, likely coming in to just take his break. Although he was seeking a break from the stress of work, as soon as he saw you, he knew he needed to make sure you were okay. He sat down beside you, a concerned expression upon his face.
"What's wrong?" He asked, wrapping an arm around you so that you would move to rest your head on his shoulder.
"My patient died," you sighed. "She was only a kid."
He offered you an apologetic smile. Tom himself was a paediatric doctor and knew it was hard whenever a patient died, harder than when it was an adult patient. However both of you had to get used to it, patients died and it would hurt especially when you got to know them, but you had to learn to not become too emotionally involved as if you did then it would destroy you.
"It's not my first patient death but this one has just got to me," you sighed. "I feel pretty stupid about it though."
"Don't feel stupid," he said softly, pressing a gentle kiss to your hair. "Sometimes these things are harder than others, it doesn't make your weak, it actually shows your strength, that you aren't completely emotionless and sometimes things do get to you."

You nodded your head, agreeing with what he said.
"I love you Y/N," Tom smiled. "Just take a few deep breaths and remember you did everything you could as a doctor and a kind-hearted person, it just doesn't always work out how we want it to."
"Thank you, Tom," you whispered, trying to not cry still. "I appreciate it. Sometimes I need someone to remind me that everything is okay, even when it may not feel like it."
"And that's what I'm here for."

The Many Lives of Cadence Lee
Cadence Lee thought she was a normal girl, perhaps a little well to do, but not exceptionally so. She had her college classes, she had her job that her uncle gave her, and she had a nice boyfriend who was sweet if a little awkward. Except, when a mugger accosts Cadence and her boyfriend attempts to wrestle a gun away from the criminal, Cadence ends up shot. A normal girl, with the kind of wound Cadence had, would die. Cadence managed to do that part. But a normal girl wouldn't then open her eyes again and learn that death is not as permanant for her as it is for other people. She can be reborn again, and again. Each time stronger and with new abilities. The catch? Any world she is born into, she can never return to. She has infinite lives, but only one life for each. So begins The Many Lives of Cadence Lee.
