"Abs, you need to be back at work in a minute, but I'll cover for you for now," Zoe stated. "Don't push it though."
Zoe slipped out of the curtain leaving you and Abs alone in the cubicle. Looking over at your boyfriend, you noticed his concerned expression having not faltered even though a doctor whom he trusted had already proved that you were going to be perfectly fine.
"Stop looking at me like that," you frowned, moving the ice pack on your head to stop it from slipping as it had moments before.
"I can't help if I'm worried about you," he said softly, holding onto your hand and giving it a firm squeeze.
"You have no reason to worry John," you assured him. "It's just a mild concussion. Zoe even said that she would let me stay in this bed for observation for an hour or two. I'm going to be perfectly fine."
He didn't look certain. He kept hold of your hand even though he knew that he needed to head back to work.
"What if she missed something?" He asked. "What if it isn't just a concussion and it's something more serious."
You shook your head, instantly wincing and regretting your decision to move your head. Attempting to assure him that you were fine, you tried to laugh it off even though it was clearly a little forced due to your pain.
"I fell over and smacked my head off the wall. I'm just stupid and clumsy, there's nothing else to it John," you stated.
"It's not a joke," he frowned. "I don't know what I would do if something were to happen to you."
Gently tugging his hand, you made him move close to you so that you could press your lips to his, hoping that would convince him even a little.

"I promise you that I am going to be okay John. Now you need to go back to work. You can come and check up on me when you have a free moment but if something were to happen to me, then I am in the right place. There are doctors and nurses everywhere and you are also here to protect me."
He was reluctant but nodded his head, knowing he didn't really have a choice and would need to return to work now anyway.
"Just keep resting, please," he said softly. "Promise me."
"I promise," you smiled. "Now go and work."
"I'll be back soon."
He pressed a kiss to your forehead before leaving you in the cubicle alone.
