《Fandom Imagines and Preferences V》Javier Esposito- Misconception (c)

Sometimes you hated your friends and colleagues and they all knew exactly why that was. You were a lab technician and very rarely socialised with anyone and certainly never dated. Somehow you had managed to befriend Lanie and Kate whom also worked at the precinct you did and they both found it slightly humorous and slightly sad that you hadn't been on a date in so long. They took it upon themselves to set you up with another colleague Javier whom they knew hadn't been on a serious date in a while and for some reason thought that you would work well with.

Both of you were hesitant but they were forceful women and he was meant to be picking you up at seven that night. You had overhead him talking to his partner Kevin about how he wasn't looking forward to the date due to how he perceived you. You were proudly a nerd and a geek and didn't mind that your nose was practically always stuck in a book, but he assumed that meant you weren't going to be interesting or fun. If only he knew there was more to you than your work and some of your more introverted hobbies.

When you heard the door go, you felt almost excited for him to see you. You still had on your glasses and hair tied up atop your head but instead of your normal buttoned shirt and straight skirt you had a bright red dress that hugged your body in the best ways. As you opened the doors, you saw Javier's expression contort from that of boredom and reluctance to shock as he saw how you were dressed.

"Wow," he croaked. "You look... you look... wow."

You rolled your eyes at him. He was dressed smart, but his jaw was agape, having not come around from being surprised by seeing you.

"Thank you," you chuckled.

"I didn't expect you to wear something like that," he whispered.

"You don't know me too well Javier," you commented. "I doubt you expected anything more than me wearing a lab coat and carrying a book."

He offered you an apologetic expression. "I'm sorry. I didn't give you a chance and honestly thought you would be a little boring, but no one who dresses like that could be that boring."

"You should never judge a book by it's cover. Maybe we will actually get along."

Javier nodded his head. "Shall we get going?"

"We should."
