————————————
A knock resounded at the Ramshackle dorm at 12 pm.
Charlie jolted in her sleep, waking up with her hair rustled up and eyes struggling to stay shut. She groaned as she forced herself out of bed from a small nap.
"Kill me now..." another knock. "Hold your fucking horses!" she snarled as she trudged down the stairs, ready to murder whomever had the gall to show up on her doorstep on a Saturday, when she'd rather be sleeping.
She blindly wrenched open the door, eyes filled with fire.
"What the fuck do you want, you bitch?!"
"Uh, good afternoon Charlie?" The brunette stopped, looking up.
It was Ace and Deuce.
"Oh my god, I-I'm so sorry!" she shook slightly, having mistaken them for someone else.
"Are you okay?" Deuce asked her as she rubbed the sleep from her eyes.
"I just thought someone waa tryna play a trick on me late in the day..." she yawned.
"Uh, well, thats the thing..."Ace wandered off. She gave the two boys a confused glance.
"And what do you mean by that?" she narrowed her eyes at them.
"I think....it'd be best if you come and see what's going on...."Deuce ushered.
————————————
One word: Chaos.
The entire Dorm of Octavinelle was in a state of Chaos. Students were either screaming their heads off, the smell of ocean breeze obviously pungent in the halls. Several students had either suffered being bitten or inked, or even both, as they quivered in fear.
"Uh, what exactly happened?" Charlie asked, surveying the damage. After getting washed up and dressed for the day, now that her mind was clear of any fogginess, she was in a better state of mind.
"That's the thing. We were heading back to Heartslabyul when we saw several students running out of here, looking like they just saw a demon." Ace explained.
"Ah! Charlotte! There you are!" one student rushed over to the trio, looking clearly disheveled. "We need your help! Azul and the Leeches have disappeared! They were acting weird, and they started....shape shifting! We tried catching them, but they were too fast!"
"Have you checked everywhere?"
"The school, the dorms, even their bedrooms! Nothing!"
"What about the Lounge? It's the only place left."
"We're just about to go over there!" The student ushered them to the building, unlocking the doors. But as soon as they stepped inside, wailing was heard.
"Huh?!' Ace looked confused.
"Wait here!" Charlie spoke and ran through the building, following the wailing all the way to the VIP room, which was unlocked thankfully.
She pushed open the doors to find it empty. Except for three piles of clothes strewn in different parts of the room. And underneath one of them was the source of crying.
She slowly approached it, kneeling down and lifting the grey overcoat. What she saw made her gasp.
A small baby octopus with purple and black skin was wailing sadly, black smudges of tears dripped from his eyes. His eight tentacles wavered agitatedly.
"It's okay, little guy. No one's gonna hurt you..." she shushed gently, scooping up the little octopod in her arms.
He sniffled, opening his eyes and looking up at the girl with tears. And instinctively, he nuzzled into her, whimpering. His tentacles curled around her arm like a vice.
"Azul..." she sighed, brushing his skewed hair away. He responded by sniffling once more.

"Do you know where Floyd and Jade are?" She asked. He responded by pointing at the other piles of clothes strewn away from where he was.
She stood up carefully, Azul not once detaching himself from her, as she checked the other two.
True to his word, there were the other two, in the same predicament. Their tealish skin slimy and tails wiggling sadly. Their fins look lifeless and limp. Changed into their eely forms, the two babies were a different sight to behold.
"Oh my god..." Charlie whispered. The two stared up at her at the sound of her voice, and on instinct, Floyd crawled his way to her, gnashing his teeth happily. He latched onto her other free arm, nibbling her hand not-so-gently.
Charlie and Jade looked at one another and she sighed, "I hate to ask what happened, but I have a feeling I already know..." the other responded by merely flailing over to where his brother was, clinging onto Charlie as well, trying to pry the other away from her already bite-marked hand.
Charlie rocked the little guys to calm Azul down–but inside, she felt like murdering someone.
"Whoever did this is gonna get beaten and buried six feet under by the time I'm done with them..." she snarled. Carrying the mer trio in her arms, she left the room.
————————————
"What the-?!" Ace was about to scream but one glare from Charlie and he zipped it.
"Oh my god....I thought something might've happened..."the Octa student whispered, staring at the seniors in worry. The three had nestled into her arms, sleeping contently.
"Must've been a freak accident involving alchemy." Deuce sighed.
"You guys can handle getting the place cleaned up. And get an antidote to get them back to normal. I'll handle the little guys." Charlie told him as she started walking off.
"But are you sure you can handle them?!" Deuce gave her a feared look.
"I've dealt with my baby cousins back in my world before I came here. It shouldn't be that hard." She assured with a small smile. "And don't tell Crowley shit. He's as useless as a bag of cow dung."
————————————
Charlie brought the three back to her place, who were quite a hassle on the way. Azul stopped crying, but the tweels wouldn't stay still for the life of her, and she nearly dropped one of them as a result of squirming too much.
She dropped them onto the floor gently, and away from the furniture, because she'd rather risk cleaning up floors than dealing with furniture that's been bitten into and wrecked!
"i'll need to gwt you guys cleaned up, You reek like Sewer water!" she scruched up her nose at the awful and atrocious smell.
"What the...? Charlie, what happened to Azul and these guys?" Grim had wandered in and immediately his eyes landed on the three toddlers by her feet.
"These three got caught up in a lab accident. I'm not sure how long they're gonna stay like this, so I'm looking over them for the time being. Just keep an eye on them while I get their bath started!"
"I said don't give me-" but she was gone before he could even get a word out. The cat grumbled to himself, looking at the trio of mer children, who stared back at him.
"Well, being kids, you cant be that much trouble. Yours Truly's got this!"
Oh, Grim was gonna regret saying so soon.....
————————————
Charlie scrambled all around the vicinity, finding any necessary things for the trio's bath. She had grabbed spare towels from one other bathroom, a washcloth and a plastic bucket, and a bath toy. But soap was still on her list. She let the water run as she searched all the cabinets.

"Where is it?!" she searched, only to hear a yowl of pain from downstairs. "The hell?..." She got up, and went to investigate.
———————————
"What is going on?!" Charlie screamed, rushing downstairs to see the havoc ensue. Grim was being tugged at, quite harshly by the tweels, the smell of tuna pungent in the air, and Azul had wet the floor in a black puddle where he stayed.
"They got into my stash and used me as a toy! I'm not doing this again!" Grim griped and stormed off with whatever unopened ones salvaged.
Charlie sighed, survering the mess. "It's gonna be a long day...." She sighed. The trio were staring up at her, wide eyed as she gathered them.
In a different bathroom, Charlie has set the three into the warm water, who started feeling at home. Azul tucked himself into one of the corners, as Floyd splashed water at his unsuspecting brother. Her clothes had shifted into a shirt of light cotton and simple jean shorts.
"While it's cute to see you three happy, I have to actually clean you, by the way." Charlie said. But at that, they dove under the surface as a response.
"Hey, now. This is not the time for being chicken." she scolded and dunked a hand under to grab one of them. She waved her hand under the water to find them by touch. Only to feel something bite her. HARD.
"OWWW!" She screamed, yanking her hand back up. One of those little rascals bit her, possibly Floyd, and her arm started to bleed as a result. She glared at the small eel, who meekly peeked his head above the water level at her, but she could sense his small devilish smile.
"You little-!" she made to grab him, but he darted back to avoid being caught. "No. I'm better than this." she stopped, staring at the small amount of blood, her blood, that swirled in the bath water. "Besides, that lil fucker is more sneaky as he was as an adult..." She pursed her lips in thought then snapped her fingers as a small idea formed in its head.
She held out her hand as a small shimmer was shown. Then the Artemis Stone floated in her hand, glowing bluish-white light, cascading along the water's ripply surface like moon rays. True to her plan, the light attracted the three babies, their eyes glowing in curiosity at the stone, now floating in air above them.
Charlie slowly and quietly scooped up Azul since he was the one whom she could bathe the first. He whimpered as he was brought into her arms.
"No, no. no, it's alright. You're in good hands. Just a quick wash and you'll be back safe." she cooed, smiling gently. The baby octopus whimpered, but he grabbed her fingers to show that he'll trust her.
She set to her task immediately. First, dampening his hair with a small bucket and brushing it thoroughly with a small comb. Lathering up a small amount of pet-safe soap that was for some reason hidden underneath the kitchen sink, she washed his hair careful not to get it in her eyes. Once that was done, she rinsed and towel dried his hair. The other two babies looked on intently between the stone and the human girl. Once she set the first of the three back, she gave a glance at the other two and sent them a frown, in a way that a mother would scold her child.
The other two were a bit of a hassle, but thanks to finding a squeaky toy that resembled Crowley as a bird of sorts, they were occupied as she repeated the process twice.
Half an hour had passed and soon, the three were cleansed and dried. Three small figures swathed in fluffy towels circled Charlie as she dried herself. She stared at her arm, which was still bleeding, and searched the bathroom for her emergency first-aid kit. She found one with several gauze wraps, medical tape, ointment, hydrogen peroxide and splint.
Ignoring the innocent stares, sitting on the toilet seat, she dabbed a Cotton Ball carefully with peroxide and dabbed her wound, choking back any sounds of pain. Once the wound was cleaned, she tossed the used cotton away, dabbed ointment around the scabs and carefully wrapped her arm in a gauze strip, tightly to stop the bleeding, but not to the point of losing blood flow. She secured the end with medical tape and packed up the supplies when she was satisfied. But held her arm gently as it still stung from the bite.
Floyd had crawled up to her and stared at her sadly, while she glared back unamused at his stunt. But to her surprise, the little one didn't start biting like usual. Instead, he grabbed onto her arm and placing his mouth over the marks, slobbered over the bandaged wound, as a get-better kiss of sorts, while licking up any of her blood. He pulled back when he was done with a toothy grin.
She smiled fondly and pat his head. "While i appreciate your sincerity for wounding me, I'm still keeping a better eye on you and those teeth of yours." He babbled as a response.
————————————
If bathing the trio of misfits was hard, then getting them down for a nap was even more difficult.
Floyd didn't want to stay still, and ended up slamming his tail into Azul's face, who screeched in terror and cowered in the corner of their bed. Jade was the lone child who actually stayed still, but kept staring at the girl owlishly.
"Hey! No roughousing!" she scolded lightly, cradling Azul to her. The octopus curled into her chest, used to being in her arms.
Charlie racked her brain. If she didn't get the three down to seep soon, an even bigger mess would be made. And she didn't want to clean up the mess they had already made while leaving an even bigger one behind.
Then she remembered: when her cousins couldn't sleep, she would sing to them, and that usually calmed them down.
She knew of a certain song that always helped.

A gentle breeze from Hushabye Mountain
Softly blows o'er Lullaby Bay.
She rocked Azul slowly as her voice rang like a tiny bell, catching the three's attention.
It fills the sails of boats that are waiting--
Waiting to sail your worries away.
Azul babbled, feeling his eyelids grow heavy at the enchanting song.
It isn't far to Hushabye Mountain
And your boat waits down by the key.
She tucked him back into his spot between the two tweels, as she pat their cheeks lightly.
The winds of night so softly are sighing--
Soon they will fly your troubles to sea.
Instinctively, the two twins started to becomes entranced by her melodic voice, as sleep called for them.
So close your eyes on Hushabye Mountain.
Wave good-bye to cares of the day.
And watch your boat from Hushabye Mountain
Sail far away from Lullaby Bay.
Azul's tentacles her snatched by the twins like little pillows, Floyd giggling sleepily, but Jade snoozed carefully. Charlie lifted the blanket and draped it across the three careful not to rouse them from their slumber. Trying to hold in her squeals at how adorable they looked, she floated off the bed, finishing her song
So close your eyes on Hushabye Mountain.
Wave good-bye to cares of the day.
And watch your boat from Hushabye Mountain
Sail far away from Lullaby Bay.
The last note rang clearly in the air, as the peaceful snoozes of the three were heard. Charlie silently closed the door of the separate room and leaned against the wall, catching her breath from the long note.
"Ah, mission accomplished." she smiled to herself. She closed her eyes, seeing the three cuddled against one another so cute, so content, so angelic.
Too bad it wouldn't last long, considering Azul would go Beserk when finding out the mess he and the tweets made and possibly become blackmailed by Charlie over the photos she snuck of the three as they were sleeping, but she was still happy nonetheless.
