My mouth drops open. A Seer?!
"I'm a...a Seer?" I ask.
"Yes. You have visions, don't you? They usually start when a life-changing event is suppose to occur...and after that, it shows you towards something you may be meant for." She stops. She must've seen how sad I looked.
"So...that day...the day when...my life changed...that was my powers acting up?" I waver.
She nods sadly. "I'm sorry for saying that, you don't have to talk about it."
"N-No, it's fine. It's just..." I hug myself for comfort. "It feels like....things have just....happened for a reason..." I murmur. I feel tears burning my eyes and I wipe them away, gritting my teeth to choke back sobs.
Suddenly, I felt lightheaded. It must be my visions acting up. I could still see it in my dreams....
Police Sirens.....
Screaming and Crying...
The wailing of the ambulance...
And the carnage...
I gasp as the visions stop. I'm on my knees, my hands on the floor, a small pool of tears drip onto the floor below me.
I look up at her as she kneels before me, embracing me. I fall into her arms. Letting the warmth embrace me.
"It's okay, my dear. I know you couldn't stop it....none of us can....we can't change fate...but still...you're much like your sisters and brothers: we've all endured hardships that have made us into the people we are. Especially with how it began...."
"How...how did it begin?" I ask. I wanted anything to get my mind off that day and how they, The Coven, came to be. "And...who are you?"
"I am Ophelia, your guardian and the one who can help you achieve your potential." She nods, understanding me. "But to understand where we're going, you'll need to see for yourself.
"You're no ordinary Seer, Charlotte. You're what is known as a Lyastra, a woman that harbors the powers of a seer and spell Master." Several figures of women wearing cloaks and holding different magic artifacts stood in a circle around us. Their faces were concealed under the hoods.
"Back then, the Lyastras were a powerful race, who had helped many in times of poverty and war. They helped the rich, poor, young, old, everyone. Mostly as healers and enchanters. They saw everyone as equals in their eyes and treated them with respect. Soon, more and more had decided to learn their ways of enchantment and spell-crafting to save their families. Most were girls, whom at the time weren't allowed do any labor, and decided to work in secret without any men knowing. They had all banded together over time, and were soon called 'The Coven'.
"However, with powerful magic...comes a person who'll steal it at all costs. There was a person known as the Dark Lord, who was known for his wicked deeds across the lands. He slaughtered the innocent, men, women and children and the elderly. He plundered their riches and killed anyone who stood in his way. Oppressing rulers and killing their armies with his own. He was a force whom all feared.
"One day, he was told by a witch that he will lose everything he had worked hard to achieve to one who sees all. This didn't bode well for him. He grew angered and feared that the prophecy will come true. Therefore, he vowed to seek out any and all who wielded magic and kill them. He went so far as to sell his soul to a demon. He gained more power than ever. The Lyastras at the time we're hidden in plain sight, and soon the Dark Lord caught them. One by one, they were executed. All by his hand. But three young women, much like your age, had escaped and survived his genocide. They had taken what their remaining sisters had given them and used their spells, talismans and more to fight back and killed every last one of the Lord's men. Soon, they had the Dark Lord cornered. And together, combining all their magic, used a very powerful spell that had obliterated him: body, mind and soul. The Dark Lord was no more, his kingdom fell and the lands were finally at peace.

"But the spell had a side effect on the three women...the first had died, the second had been killed, or she had somehow been reborn into anew life, and the third...she was cursed with immortality.
"For centuries she had lived on, never aging, and traveling constantly from one part of the country to another. She had met many people and learned from them. All while keeping her magic a secret.
"However, the woman had a vision. That the Dark Lord may be reborn as a new being and try to steal the powers for himself. So in order to protect her secret, she wrote everything she had learned from her sisters into a book, locked by magic. All the spells, all the enchantments, and more. Before she had left for another world, she let the book fall into another one, letting a mystery person taking the book with them to their world; One where it would be safe and secured. And Only one with a willful mind and a generous, strong heart can unlock the book. Using her powers, she saw only one name before she had disappeared: Charlotte."
"...Me?!"
"Yes." We were soon back in the room. "You're the one we have been waiting for, Charlotte. You're the last of the Seers. Fate has chosen you to harness our powers and continue what has been started. You harbor the Light, and it's up to you to unleash it."
"I...I don't know if I can do it, though..." I murmur doubtfully.
"As long as you've faith in yourself, you can master the power very quickly. You have the makings of a first-rate spell master, as well as a Seer. It's in you! I can see it."
I look at her as she smiles at me.
"Charlie!"
"Deuce?" I look back to the portal to see Deuce in the my room waking up.
"It's best if you wake up. We'll talk again."
I nod as I leave.
———————————
"You went and sullied my roses! Prepare yourselves!"
The Queen of Hearts stood before Alice and the three cards, one rose tree in her grasp.
"Have mercy, Your Majesty! It's their doing!" The Three of Clubs claimed.
"Not me! It's the Ace!" The two pushed onto his comrade.
"So it's you?!" She shouted.
"No, the Two!" The Ace pleaded.
"Then the Two?!"
"No, the Three!"
"Enough! Off with their heads!!" She finally bellowed.
The three cards were dragged off.
"That's so stupid...taking someone's head over the color of a rose..." I mutter exasperated.
—————————
I walked down the stairs, dressed in my blue uniform, to the Lounge.
"Charlie, wake up. It's the Unbirthday party today. We can't afford to be late." Deuce shakes me by the shoulders.
"Okay, okay..." I wave him off, rubbing my eyes and stifling a yawn. I heard someone knock on the door.
"Looks like someone's here." Deuce walks to the foyer. After a minute, he appears again with Cater
"Morning! You enjoy the sleepover? Your evening of pillow fights and card games?" He asks.
Oh yea, I forgot. I think I passed out during the game...I dunno...
"Morning, Cater." Ace yawns. "Yea, we played cards. Grim didn't know the rules so we just played Old Maid."
"I couldn't win at all!" Grim complained as I grabbed my bag that I had left on the couch earlier today.
"You've no Poker Face when you pull the Joker." Deuce rolls his eyes.

"Let's go give Riddle the Tart from yesterday and set apologies!" Cater ups. "There was some trouble yesterday, and I'm low on backup, so we should leave now..."
" 'Backup'?" Ace repeats.
"Sorry! Just talking to myself! Well, lets get a move on!"
——————————
We jogged as fast as we could to Heartslabyul.
"Time to get this tart to the dorm leader and apologize!" Ace smiles.
"Yo! You're all here! I've been waiting for me!" Cater says.
"I'm back! Sorry for the wait, me." Cater says.
Wait...ANOTHER CATER?! WHAT THE-?!
"Why are there two Diamonds?!"
"Since when did you have a twin?!"
"Nope! I'm the only one!" Cater smiles. "This is my Unique Magic: 'Split Card'! I can use this spell to create duplicates of myself!"
"No way..." I murmur.
"So that's why we couldn't beat him no matter how many times we took him down..." Deuce sighs. Soon, more Cater's appeared donning different outfits.
"Welcome back!"
"Hi, Charlie-Chan!"
"I've had it rough! You are so late!"
I stare at them, fascinated. Whoa....they're so lifelike....
"Oh what?! There's more!!" Ace freaks.
"By the way, I'm the real Cater." The one wearing his PE getup waved. "The more copies I make, the harder it gets and I can't keep it up for a long time! It'll be off with our heads if we're late! I don't have enough hands, so lend me yours? I'll take you to Riddle once we're done!" He pleads.
"Does that mean more rose painting?" Grim narrows his eyes.
"You're so full of it!" Ace spat.
"Let's go!" Cater runs off.
————————————
After a good amount of time, the last of the roses were finished.
"We did a lot better than last time..." Deuce pants.
"Very well!" Cater smiles. "Oh! It's nearly time! Well done, other me's!"
"Aye, Sir!" The Cater Clones cheer in unison.
———————————
With so many twists and turns, the group finally made it to the Tea Garden. And just in time! For the sound of trumpets were heard, signaling the arrival of Riddle Rosehearts.
"Presenting! Our stupendous leader! The Crimson Ruler! Riddle Rosehearts!" A student announced in a clear voice.
"Long live Riddle!" The students cheered.
Clad in his usual attire, Riddle scanned the place. "Roses are red, Tablecloth is white. A perfect Unbirthday Celebration!" He declared. "You've made sure the mouse is asleep in the teapot?" He asks Trey, the latter walking up beside him.
"Of course. The jam to put on its nose at the right time is also there." He confirms.
"Perfect."
"Wow! Their outfits! They look so cool!" Grim complimented. Charlie nodded. They looked so modernized with that Wonderland twist to the dorm's theme.
"Right? This is the Heartslabyul attire!" Cater presents. "Style is on point, and makes for a great Magicame! Speaking of, I gotta change!" He swishes his hand and his school gear was replaced with his dorm attire.
"Law of the Queen of Hearts also states we must dress formally on party days! As thanks, I'll get you all coordinated as well! And Charlie, a little something special for you!" He winks. He waves his hand towards the four and:
While much hadn't changed for Ace and Deuce, Charlie and Grim were a different sight to behold.
Grim's striped bow was now black, red and white with checkered patterns on the tails.
Charlie donned a white undershirt and bandeau bralette. The dress was different compared to what the boys wore. The top portion of the dress was reminiscent to the jacket everyone wore, but with some modifications to it that suited her taste more and was enough for her necklace to hang around her neck. For the lower half, she wore a skirt that reached her between her upper thighs and knees; she wore white stockings with a gold stripe running down the outer side and for shoes: a black boot on one foot with red on the other. Her hair was down in gently curled and tied into low-hanging pigtails and her white bandana now became a white bow headband.
She and the boys looked at themselves in a nearby mirror and gawked at their new outfits.
"Ah! Lo amo! It's wonderful!" She smiles.
"Amazing!" Deuce murmurs.
"I look hot!" Ace grins.
"Nyah! I look great!" Grim cheers.
"Well, clothes do make the man!" Charlie laughs.
"And don't forget to give Riddle the Mont Blanc! Now, lets party!" Cater cheers.
———————————
All the Heartslabyul students were situated in their spots. Our group sat by each other to keep close.
"Before the croquet match, a toast. Does everyone have a teacup?" Riddle asks. "It's no one's birthday. So let the Unbirthday party commence! Kampai." He raises his cup.
"Kampai!" All their hands were raised.
"Ace, now's you're chance!" Cater nudges the first year forward.
"Okay..." Ace gets up from his seat and approaches Riddle. "Pardon me, Dorm Leader."
"Yes?" Riddle turns to face him, and a knowing look flashed across his face. "Ah, the Tart thief."
"Um, I'd like to formally apologize for eating the tart before. So, I've baked you a new one!" Ace smiles.
"Hm? Just curious, but which kind?" Riddle asks.
"Glad you asked!" Ace brings his other hand out from behind his back to reveal his masterpiece. "A Mont Blanc stuffed to the brim with fresh chestnuts!"
[There should be a GIF or video here. Update the app now to see it.]
"Mont Blanc...? I don't believe it!" Riddle's eyes widen.
"Huh?!"
"Law of her majesty, the Queen of Hearts, no. 562: 'One must NEVER bring a Mont Blanc to an Unbirthday party.'" Riddle stands from his seat. "You've violated an imperative rule! How could you do something like this?! The party is utterly ruined!" He shouted in anger.
Charlie, Deuce and Grim looked up from their places at Riddle's outburst. In fact, every person did.
"562?!" Deuce stands.
"Okay, hold up! How many of these rules are there?!" Charlie demanded, standing as well.
"810, to be exact." Riddle answered. "I've every one of them memorized. I am the dorm leader after all."
'810?! That's insane!' She thinks.
"Oh no...we're screwed!" Cater whispers. "Trey, did you know?!"
"I've only committed 350 to memory." Trey denies. "We've let our guards down. To think there's rules about the kind of tart..."

Kind’s Kiss
MAGIC DOESN'T KILL, NOT BY ITSELF. IT NEEDS A LITTLE HELP. Jessica DeRidder is a substitute teacher and mage in hiding, her daughter Ellen a killer on the run. Their next job lands the mother-daughter team in Hellhole, a small town in the middle of nowhere. All they need to do is their job. For Mom to identify the problem, and for Ellen to... fix it. Easy. Simple. But not this time. The pair find themselves caught in the struggle between the Man-in-White and the Wicked Witch of the West. A mysterious image and the theft of a deadly flower lead the pair to a score of dead prisoners, magical drug dealers, and red-eyed assassins falling from the sky. And somehow it all seems to be related to Ellen's murky past. All Ellen wants to do is do her homework, eat ice cream, and protect her newfound friends (not necessarily in that order). She'll go all-in, guns blazing. But when the smoke clears there may be nothing left but a stranger's past and a lonely future. --- 'Kind's Kiss' is a light, modern-day fantasy, easy on the magic, heavy on the snark. Though complete it is still a work in progress. One reviewer described it as 'Buffy meets Sabrina, as done by Tarantino'. I'm still not sure if I should consider that a compliment or hire a hitman :-)
