The Black SUV pulled into the gravel driveway, the lean iron bars framing overhead the path entrance that led to Aunt Samantha's house. The path had led to a quaint two-story brick house, lush vegetation growing around to give that simplistic feel to the neighborhood.

As a dear relative to the Lucchesi family, Samantha loved all her children dearly, supplying them with all she believed they needed: comfort, support, love. Especially the youngest.

"Okay, Squirt, we're here." The young man hit the brake so the back car door was parallel to the white front door of the house. He shook his black bangs out of his hair, grey eyes framed by long lashes and thick eyebrows, with a chiseled jaw and sharp nose. The looks of a grown young man, specifically inherited from his father.

"Don't wanna make Aunty wait. Remember what happened when we were kids?" A young blonde woman teased from the passenger seat. Just a year in at nineteen and she still held a sense of playfulness. Strong amber pierced even through the rays of late afternoon sun, thin pink lips smiled gently, staring at her younger sister, her peachy cheeks turned up.

"E-Elaine! I thought we'd never speak of that!" The second sister spoke in from the back, pushing her deep brown locks away, even if they were swept up and out of her face by a hairtie and a white bandanna acting as a ribbon. Straightening out her form fitting tee, she checked to make sure she had all she needed before reaching for the foot handle.

"Hey, Charlie." The girl looked up at the sound of her name. She faced her brother, Shawn, looking him in the eye, waiting. Just one look and she saw it. That feeling that turned her stomach. Made her want to vomit, cry, or even scream in pain.

"Just...." he hesitated. He didn't know what to say. And who wouldn't? After....

"....take it easy. Call us if anything happens. We love you, remember." Elaine senses the air tending and decided to simmer it before things could turn dark.

Charlie could only nod mutely, looking away. She didn't want to remember that day.....but like a tattoo, it was there permanently, to scar your being.

But they were right. Even if it was hard, she still needed to be strong. Looking up, she pulled a smile, a sad one, and said her goodbyes.

"Good luck on your report. And don't be so nervous about the final edits on your book. You'll both do great!" She encourages. Even if something bad went down, Charlie still kept her hopes up for others and their futures. Elaine's Novel sentry a publishers in New York and Shawn's notes for his trip across Europe being put into a report to be presented the board of directors at his university.

"Don't worry. It'll be a snap!" Shawn brushed off, smiling awkwardly. Elaine laughed and hugged her sister goodbye. Shawn ruffles her head, something that usually irked Charlie, as the teen turned and pushed open the car door.

She slipped out and grabbed her pink and cream overnight bag, and her deluxe blue travel suitcase. She pushed the door shut with her elbow, just as the engine revived to life. She waved goodbye to her brother and sister as the car drove forward and out the other entrance, vanishing around the corner.

Charlie sighed and turned to look at the house. Just seeing the place brought back many memories, bad and good. And now, it would be her temporary home for the time.

Snatching the handle, she dragged her suitcase up to the front door, her shoulder bag hitting her rib cage lightly as she walked. Just as she made it to the front, it swung open.

An older woman in her late fifties to early sixties stood under the archway. Her graying hair in a stylish bob, bright matching eyes warmed at the sight of her niece.

"Charlotte!" The girl blushed at the way her aunt said her name. Like honey on your tongue, like the wind caressing the grass.

"....Hi, Aunt Sam." She smiled, being pulled into a gripping hug. She looped her arms around her aunt, returning the gesture as a light laughter left her mouth. Pulling away she felt calloused but gentle hangs on her upper arms. Her aunt looked at her with a graceful smile.

"Oh, Bella...you've grown so much." Aunt Sam sniffled dramatically. "You look so matured!"

"I always do, grandma." Charlie laughed. "You don't have to say it every time."

"But I do because it's true!" Her aunt retorted playfully. "Anyhoo, come in! Let's get you settled!"

After two hours of getting her stuff unpacked, exploring the house for a memory refresh, and the gardens (which was finished in a span of three months!) that Charlie took the liberty of exploring.

She felt right at home with Aunt Sam. It felt like old times. The two would have heartfelt conversations, laugh and talk about their lives, while snacking their cares away. Dinner was a mashup of Chinese noodles and Spinach Cheddar calzones, on Charlie's request.

Charlotte giggles at something her aunt said after leaving for the kitchen. Reaching for her chopsticks, she goes to grab more noodles.

A shock sparked in her fingers, she froze as her eyes glazed over, staring at a particular spot. All she could see was a tall dark figure sporting an extravagant coat and it was as if he was speaking to something....or someone.....she could hear the deep voice saying,

"I'll show you the real happy ending..."

She gasped sharply, dropping her utensils out of reflex. Scooting as far back as she could in her chair, she felt chills rack her body.

"....lotte? Charlotte? CHARLOTTE!"

She snapped out of her state to see her aunt staring at her with a mix of confusion and fright. She was holding a devils food cake with cannoli circling the bottom.

"Are you okay, Tesoro? You look like you've seen a ghost."

"Oh! Uh, sorry! I-it was a spider, auntie!" She brushed off as best as she could. Smiling lightly for an added effect.

Her aunt seemed to go with it and placed the cake down in the middle of the antique wooden dining table.

"Well, if you're up for it, I've got some dessert to celebrate your arrival and until your school gets back in session." Oh yea, did I mention that her school's shut down due to a worldwide epidemic going around the globe and everyone's paranoid about it, this leading to health officials shutting down any and all public places till further notice? Well, now you do.

"Thanks, aunt Sam." Charlie grants, starting to cut the cake.

With the last of their evening spent cleaning up, Aunt Sam let Charlotte spend her time in her room. She complied, hopping up the stars, and jogged to her room.

It was a vintage aesthetic, one that Charlotte definitely loves. She's the girl who likes a little of everything, and not a lot of one. Cuz where's the fun in that?

She hopped to her work, throwing on her silky pajamas, brushing and washing up, and setting her phone on her nightstand to charge over night.

In the bathroom, Charlotte busied with brushing her teeth and raking her fingers through her hair. Finishing up on her left side, she turned the tap on, rinsed and started to wash her face. Reaching for her towel after a few seconds, the water ceased running, as she dried her face. She looked into the mirror.

A pair of green eyes stared back at her. A pale face with dark hair and....horns???

She nearly screamed as she turned around. But there was no one.

Charlotte desperately tried to calm her heart down. Placing a hand on her chest, she leaned against the sink. She stared at the carpet, her mind racing.

What was going on??? This was the first time she felt something this exhilarating before, but not in a good sense. If anything, the feel of goosebumps prickled her skin in a wave and a sense of dread crept up on her.

"Maybe it's time to hit the sack." She thought. She looked at the clock: 9:50pm. Yep, totally time for bed!

She fled under the covers, and struggled to turn the lamplight off with fumbling hands. Just as the room went dark, she covered her shoulders and desperately tried to close her eyes. But the lull of sleep wasn't washing over her like she'd hoped.

Then there was a voice. And it's...singing?

Charlotte listened to the music, body not moving an inch from her place. She didn't dare move. Not when the feeling of being watched was creeping up her back. Even with a fluffy blanket, it's as if the eyes watching her squirming figure could see right through any object.

The voice caught on to her and, unaware of being entranced by its aura, she fell into a deep slumber as the same eyes kept watching her drift off.
