A Budding Scientist in a Fantasy World
Alice is a girl who loves science and lives on Earth. Then, suddenly, she was punted into another dimension. A dimension where magic and monsters roam the land, swords and sorcery reign supreme, and, for some reason, a System keeps dinging at her and telling her that her stats and levels are increasing. As someone who loves exploring mysteries, Alice is determined to get to the bottom of this mystery. After all, everything has to have a ‘cause,’ including the System, right? What to expect: This story is going to be a LitRPG set in a fantasy world. However, unlike many LitRPG’s, the system has both a definite beginning and definite limits to what it is able to accomplish – rather than a singularly omnipotent, omniscient being that is tied to the laws of the world, the way systems are usually presented in LitRPG’s, the system is close to both, but has definite limits and rules which it operates by. This story is also relatively slow, since that is my writing style. The main character also begins the story as a young, 15-year old girl who has yet to finish high school, and is going to explore more of the world around her as she grows as a person and starts to get her feet under her. He prefers to live life in virtual reality (VR) where he has an artificial intelligence assistant and therapy system called Sonder that helps give him social cues and coaching. He can also alter his appearance to one that he can be more confident in. He holds a virtual concert and finds out that Alice, his high school crush, is actually one of his fans. They get to know each other and become romantically involved, but have extreme trouble bridging the virtual and the real world. This is a wholesome, vanilla love story about overcoming your fears and learning how to live with your weaknesses.This is a short story with a new chapter released at least once a week on Wednesdays until finished.Book Cover art by Romi Lindenberg.

Follow this not so prestigious order which guards The Bastion, a not so formidable fortress which is the obstacle standing in The Dark Lord’s way from invading the realm of Rovaldan. “Invasion? I just want to get an honest paying job and pay taxes. The Ruined Lands have terrible food and even worse entertainment. The standard of living here is truly terrible.” - An excerpt from an interview with The Dark Lord. Chapters will be short, between 400-1200 words, with at least three release a week and more if I am able. This is a serious attempt and writing not so serious fiction and thus should not be read by the faint-hearted. Controversial topics including current issues and politics may and shall be used along with tropes in a satirical manner. Read at your own risk as The Rovaldan Lancers deal with the everyday struggles of guarding a border no one want's guarded and their ongoing rivalry with The Dark Lord.
