[ start of night school part one ]

cuddle and conversation session was abruptly stopped minutes after it started, by Eleanor's phone constantly buzzing to the sound of The Killers, Mr Brightside. She ignored the first two calls, but when a third came through, she decided that maybe it was more important than spending the night with Stiles.

When she picked up, she did not expect what she was told. "Els, you need to get to the school now. Derek thinks Scott's boss is the Alpha."

At this point, Jaden was on speaker and the pair sat up from their position on the Stilinski's couch. Stiles stood up immediately, searching for the keys to his jeep as Eleanor tried to make sense of the situation. Deaton? The Alpha? Was Derek delusional?

"It can't be Deaton. "Eleanor voiced firmly, standing up as she grabbed a hoodie from the coat rail. It just so happened to be Stiles'. "We've known him for at least a year now! Plus, don't you think Scott would know?"

"I don't disagree Elle," Jaden sighed, scratching the back of his neck, "And neither does Scott. He had some sort of plan, and we need you guys to meet us at the school now."

Eleanor huffed, pacing the carpeted floor as she heard Stiles' familiar footsteps approach from the staircase. Jaden ended the call before she could reply, and the young girl ran a hand through her soft brunette locks, trying not to become frustrated with her older brother. Where did he even get the idea from? Eleanor had no clue of the answer.

Both Stiles and Eleanor arrived at the high school in minutes, the majority of the ride filled with impatient foot tapping and nervous glances. Upon arriving, Eleanor already sighted the black camaro in the parking lot, and hopped out of the jeep seconds after it halted. Stiles followed closely behind, glancing around frantically in search of Scott.

"Have you completely lost your mind?" Eleanor hissed, stalking to where Derek stood, a wide smug smirk plastered on to his face. This faltered as he saw Eleanor.

"What are you doing here?"

Eleanor glared at Jaden, whom seemed to have turned away from the situation, scratching the back of his neck awkwardly. "I'm here to take Deaton home! Are you insane? He's not the Alpha Derek!"

Derek creased his forehead, his tensed arms crossing over his chest as he raised a brow. "And how can you be so sure?"

Before any other words could be spoken, Scott's erratic breath had entered the premises, and within seconds, he was stood either side of Stiles and Jaden. He glanced at the three friends, and in return they indiscreetly shuffled away from Derek, and into a group huddle.

"This is a terrible plan!" Stiles huffed, his arms flailing to emphasise his point.

"Yeah, I know."

"But we're still gonna do it?"

"Have you got any better ideas?" Jaden questioned incredulously, turning behind him to where Derek stared at the group.

"Well," Eleanor started sarcastically, "Personally, I am a fan of ignoring the problem until it goes away."

Scott rolled his eyes at his best friend and turned to the siblings, his eyes darker with anger. "Just make your brother doesn't do anything so we can get inside."

The four teenagers nodded, dissembling from their group discussion to face Derek, whom watched on with a tired expression. This changed into a look of concern as the four turned on their heels to enter the school,

"Hey! What do you think you're doing?" He questioned, glaring at Eleanor, knowing she was the one most likely to crack under the pressure of her brother.

"You said I was linked with the Alpha. I'm going to see if you're right."

Derek cleared his throat and crossed his arms over his chest. "Eleanor stays here."

Eleanor furrowed her eyebrows in confusion. If anything, she should be helping Scott, and making sure he doesn't do anything stupid. Stiles also could not find the logic in Derek's demand.

"What? Why?" His hand gripped her arm nervously and she looked back at his brown, golden eyes with a small smile of reassurance.

"Because I said so. Now go." And with one last smile from Eleanor, the three hesitantly wandered into the school, leaving the two siblings with Deaton.

Eleanor ambled toward the black Camaro and leant against the bonnet, next to her tense older brother. The cool metal radiated through her jeans, and she almost forgot the jumper she had left in the passenger seat of Stiles' jeep. Fishing through her pocket, she found the key to the rusty, run down vehicle and retrieved her best friend's jumper.

She held the fresh, cotton material between her fingers and smiled at the thought of the owner, before backing away from the powder blue jeep, slowly shutting the door. The moment the metal clicked into place, a loud screech of high pitch and desperation sounded from the speakers both within, and surrounding the school, and her and Derek immediately shared a look of disbelief.

"You have got to be kidding me." The broody man complained, raising his eyebrows as Eleanor let out a quiet giggle, both at her brother and her friend.

She returned to her spot next to Derek and put down her phone and keys, slipping the sweater over her head in silence, breathing in Stiles' familiar scent as she pulled the material closer to her, trying to find the warmth she so badly wanted.

Derek smirked and raised his eyebrows at the image. "Stiles' hoodie, huh?"

Eleanor scoffed, narrowing her eyes at his comment as she shoved his shoulder. "Shut up, we're friends."

"You want more than that."

"Yeah," Eleanor huffed, returning her phone and keys back into her pocket. "But he likes Lydia. I'm his best friend."

Derek shook his head and sighed, leaning back on the bonnet of his car like Eleanor was, pulling her closer to him. "It'll happen, Elle. Give it time, it will happen."

"You said that about-"

"Yeah, but he was an asshole. We didn't even know him properly, Stiles, well Stiles you've known since you were seven years old."

Eleanor hummed, trying to ignore the warm, homely feeling when Stiles' had been mentioned. "I guess-"

But before she could even finished uttering her sentence, a loud, menacing roar sounded from the speakers above the entrance to Beacon Hill High, startling the both of them. Eleanor gripped tighter to the familiar material surrounding her and Derek tensed his hands and arms, moving closer to his younger sister as an instinct. This wasn't needed, for the wolf like sound had come from Scott.

Derek glared at the school, as if it were Eleanor's friends, and turned to state. "I'm going to kill them."

Eleanor rolled his eyes at his dramatic threat and watched as the two friends and her twin brother emerged from the school. "Oh, c'mon Derek."

"I'm going to kill you! What the hell was that? Are you trying to attract the whole damn state?"

"Sorry," Scott apologised sheepishly, although he seemed extremely proud of himself, "I didn't know it would be that loud."

"Yeah, it was loud." Stiles confirmed, grinning wide eyed as he clapped a hand on to his best friends back. "And it was awesome!"

Derek just stared ahead, narrowing his eyes at the newly bitten and his friend, and Eleanor sighed, pushing his shoulder jokingly. "Lighten up Der, don't be-"

"Shut up."

""-such a sour wolf." She finished, as Jaden, Scott and Stiles all let out hearty laughs at her small comedic comment.

Scott's laughter, however, immediately stopped when he saw that the black, sleek door of Derek's camaro was hanging wide open, and Deaton was nowhere to be seen.

He let out a low, terror filled growl as he tightened his fists. "Where did he go?"

Eleanor and Derek both furrowed their eyes brows, shrugging as they turned to face the scene Scott was so angry about. The siblings shared a short look of confusion, before turning back to the group whom looked on at Derek with accusing, cold eyes.

Derek stood forward, trying to convince them of his innocence. "Look, I didn't do anything."

"Oh, really? Because that's so convincing."

Eleanor scoffed, crossing her arms as she too stepped forward, pleading with the three boys that Derek was indeed innocent. "Derek's telling the truth. Neither of us noticed he'd gone-"

Eleanor was unable to finish her sentence, for a sharp, deathly pain pierced into her body, paralysing her every move as blood immediately spilled from her mouth as she gasped. She could tell that the injury had come from Derek, but she was in too much pain to do anything except fall into the arms of Jaden, whom held her almost instantly. Without so much as another pause, the four best friends fled the scene and into the high school, leaving Derek for almost certain death.

Eleanor's mind felt heavy, and her eyesight hazy as she heard the metal school doors slam behind them, practically limp in her twin brother's tense arms. He allowed Stiles to take Eleanor from his arms to help Scott secure the doors in place.

"Lock it! Lock it!" Scott freaked, running both hands through his thick hair as Jaden glared fiercely at the boy.

"Do I look like I have a key?"

"Grab something!"

Jaden glanced around, trying not to wince at the pain he was feeling from Eleanor, as he frantically searched for something hold the doors shut. Stiles leant against the wall, attempting to wipe the blood from Eleanor's chin as he cradled her cold, shaking body.

"Eleanor, stay awake for me. You need to disconnect from Derek."

Jaden's eyes drooped at the thought of his older brother, but they landed on the bolt cutters that had been left outside, leading to form an idea in his head. He could secure the doors.

Scott followed his gaze to the lonely metal object and immediately shook his head. "No."

Jaden sighed. "Yes."

"Jaden," Eleanor coughed desperately, watching him take off toward the appliance, where the mystery Alpha loomed, "Jaden, no don't!"

"Hey." Stiles cooed, resting his hand upon her cheek as she looked up at him, her lips trembling with worry for not only Jaden, but Derek too. She could feel that he was still alive.

With nothing but Stiles to coach her through the immense pain she was feeling, she embraced his gentle touch on her cheek, turning her head slightly to feel his hand against her fragile skin. Her eyes watered and her sore throat let out a muffled cry, gripping Stiles' free hand harshly, careful not to use any of her supernatural strength that could potentially hurt him.

However, as she leant against him in the abandoned hallway, awaiting a sign that Jaden had returned with the bolt cutters, and that they weren't all doomed to a tragic death, something miraculous happened. And though she was born into a world of shape shifters, supernatural and more, Eleanor found the happening like no other. She simply had no explanation.

Her wounds had begun to heal.

At first, Eleanor habitually thought it was because her elder brother had begun the healing process too. But this was something different, something remarkably strange. Her empathic abilities allowed her to access feelings and thoughts like no other, and therefore she could tell that Derek was still in danger. Derek was still hurt. Which didn't explain why Eleanor had began to heal.

Stiles stared down at the claw wounds engraved deep into her skin, staring in both disgust and pure amazement as they started to close before his very eyes. Her skin returned to its normal radiant glow, and he frantically removed his flannel shirt to rest upon her shoulders as she started to groggily sit up.

He swiped the bottom of her lip with his thumb, to rid the last of her blood, and sighed in disbelief, relief and shock as she opened her big green eyes to look at him. He let out a soft breath from his nose and smiled, clearing the hair off of her face, leaning forward to gently kiss her temple.

Eleanor returned the smile, but the look of confusion had yet to seize her face as he carefully helped her to her feet. Scott glanced behind him for a split second, only to double take as he watched Stiles lift their previously wounded friend to her feet, and he almost forgot that her twin brother was in a great amount of danger. Almost.

He turned back to gaze at Jaden, and his eyes widened in terror at the scene before him. Jaden had made it to the abandoned bolt cutters, and was now sprinting back to the school, the gigantic, dark alpha directly behind him.

Both Eleanor and Stiles had directed their attention to this event too, and Eleanor seemed to have forgotten how to breathe as she watched the Alpha run after one of the only family members she had left. Stiles grip on her tightened when she stepped forward, wanting nothing more than to heroically meet Jaden and save him from the gruesome beast.

The three watched on, feeling helpless for their friend. However, Jaden had out ran the Alpha, and had dived through the double doors as Scott, Eleanor and Stiles pushed them shut, trying their best to avoid the Alpha. The rattling soon stopped.

All that was heard throughout the empty corridors were the erratic breathing from the the four stressed teenagers. It echoed through the halls until Jaden turned around to face Eleanor, taking a surprised step back as he saw his sister stood with no injuries.

"What happened?" He questioned incredulously, holding on to her shoulders as he scanned her body for any pain or wound.

Eleanor sighed nervously, shrugging her shoulders. "I have no clue! It just - happened."

"Bloody hell."

The school had fallen eerily silent, however it was just a reminder that the mysterious alpha lurked, waiting for them to leave the building. "Whatever, we'll talk about that later. We need to run."

And so they did. They ran through the deserted familiar halls, their shoes squeaking against the hard flooring as they turned corners and darted through classrooms, until they stopped to catch their breath. Well, they stopped for Stiles to catch his breath. They leant against the wall of their Economics classroom and shared looks of intent worry as they faintly heard rummaging from far beyond.

Scott, Stiles, Eleanor and Jayden stared at one another before averting their eyes to Coach's desk beside them, confirming with one collective nod. "The desk!"

They moved as a unit to push the wooden table to the classroom door, hoping that one little obstacle would delay the beast catching up to the four friends.

Jaden, the more realistic of the four, pointed out the practical truth. "The door's not gonna keep it from coming in."

"I know." Scott admitted, sighing in defeat as he slid to the floor, holding his head in his hands as the three friends watched him.

"It's your boss." Stiles stated, somewhat angry that he hadn't know it before as he furrowed his eyebrows.

Scott stopped looking down at the floor to give Stiles a look of disbelief. "What?"

"Deaton, the Alpha. You're boss." He convinced sarcastically, as the twins shared an uneasy stare.

"No."

"Yes!" Stiles exclaimed, waving his hands in the air to emphasise his point. "Psycho murdering werewolf."

"It can't be him." The Hispanic boy disagreed with gritted teeth, slightly angry that Stiles would even consider Deaton as the demonic beast chasing them.

"Oh come on!" He stressed. "He disappeared, and that thing showed up ten seconds later to toss Derek twenty feet in the air? That's not convenient timing?"

The mention of what had happened to her brother sent shivers down Eleanor's spine, but she remained focused as she heard Scott refuse the idea. "It's not him."

"But that thing-"

"Yeah, I know. It killed Derek."

Eleanor and Jaden's eyes shot to Scott's as the sentence fell from his lips and Eleanor could feel her heart wrenching in her chest as she uttered. "Derek's not dead. He can't be dead."

Scott scowled. "Well, you're completely healed. What does that tell us."

Jaden raised his eyebrow, almost as if to say that Scott had a good point, and Eleanor glared at the both of them. "I don't know why I bloody healed. I have no clue whatsoever, nada. But I know that my brother is still alive."

"How are you so sure?"

Eleanor let out a deep breath and tried to calm herself at Scott's inconsiderate question. "Scott, I swear to god if you don't shut the fuck up and listen to me for half a second-"

"Okay!" Jaden stated loudly, cutting the tension with another question aimed at their situation. "What do we do now?"

"We get to my jeep, we get the hell out of here, Scott seriously considers quitting his job, okay?" Stiles stated simply, as if wouldn't be hard at all.

The four stared at one another, confirming their plan with four convincing nods. The only thing to be heard was their now slow, steady breathing, and the ever so slight wind outside; the soothing noise seemed to take their mind off of the chaos for a small moment before they began their long, hopefully not painful, journey back to the car without getting caught. The warm taste of hope lingered in Eleanor's mouth, but she feared that it would soon be swallowed away by fear as a low growl was to be heard from the hallways.

Jaden turned to face Eleanor, however was distracted by the large panel of windows behind her; a plan started to form in his mind. Both Scott and Stiles caught on to the familiar look of scheme in Jaden's eyes and Eleanor was happy that despite their small disputes over the past few weeks, they were finally able to help each other and agree on something.

That was until she realised that the boys' plan would not work. "They won't open. The school's climate controlled."

Scott turned to look at Eleanor with a creased brow and a determined stare. "Then we break it."

"Which will make a lot of noise."

The mention of noise seemed to signal the Alpha, whom sounded as if it were now outside again. The growl spooked all four friends, and they scrambled to fit under the window sill, holding their breath as the plodding paws of the beast awaited outside.

"Then we run fast, really fast." Scott determined, staring at his best friends in worry for their lives, afraid that they would not make it out of this experience alive.

Eleanor merely nodded, and moved from her sitting position to a squat, alarming the three boys beside her. Each of them glared at her, their eyes filling with dread and terror at her selfless action as Jaden reached out to grab her wrist, attempting to pull her back down to their level. However, Eleanor shook his hold on her off instantly, returning the glare of annoyance as she inched upward, trying to find the lonely blue jeep in the parking lot.
