《The Assassin's Mate》Chapter 14

I felt so empty without her. The mate bond was getting stronger and I have to be with her. She would have gone into heat now if she was a werewolf but she's human so it's different. I thought about looking for her and forcing her to stay with me but I thought against it.
"Raiden!" Brian shouted. I snapped out of my thoughts and looked at him. He was already seated in my office. I didn't even know when he entered.
"Oh. What's up man?" I sighed
"What are you thinking of? Don't tell me it's Darshana." He said. I know he hates Darshana because of some certain reasons and I don't blame him. But as for me, I have faith in my mate.
"It's her alright. The bond is getting stronger. I need to be with her." I said to him.
"Can't you see what you are doing to yourself? She doesn't even care about you." He said with pity.
"You wouldn't understand Brian." No one will understand how she makes me feel. I love her attitude and I know deep down, she has some feelings for me and she is scared to accept. I'll keep trying till I break her walls and she learns to accept me.
I woke up the next day and remembered I was supposed to go over to Bruce to collect some information on the mission I had today but the bastard retired me. I went downstairs still in my pajama tank top and short shorts. I was planning on eating but I changed my mind. I went to the basement of my house where I train. I wore my punching gloves but it was so difficult to wear both by myself. If only Raiden was here.....
I started punching the bag then remembered everything that happened yesterday. The retirement, I hit it hard. What I said about Raiden, I hit it harder. Derek's betrayal, I hit it hardest. I kept hitting the bag with so much force and anger. I dropped to the floor and was now covered in sweat.
Since I wasn't going anywhere today or forever, I decided to just train all day. I was training with knives when my phone went off. I went to answer it but it was an unknown number. I was contemplating on answering it or leaving it to ring.
"Hello?" I said slowly into the phone.

"Is this Miss Cameron?" The voice belonged to a man.
"Yes and who are you?" I questioned.
"Doesn't matter. I know you were once part of The Agency and I called to tell you that the building blew up this morning. The person who did that had a mission to wipe out everyone and that's exactly what he or she did. You are very lucky Miss Cameron, for not coming to work. Goodbye Miss." The man hung up the call. I stared at the phone in my hand.
I didn't know when I had dropped it and slumped to the floor. I can't believe this. They are all dead. I would have died if Bruce hadn't retired me. Oh my god. I was so shocked that I didn't know how to react to the news I just heard. Oh no. Derek!
I had reacted badly to him. I had to apologize to him. I dialed his number and he picked up immediately.
"Hi Derek!" I chirped sheepishly into the phone.
"Darsh I'm so sorry. I don't like it when you are angry with me. Please forgive me." He rushed.
"Thank you." I said honestly.
"You're thanking me? I thought you'd be angry with me." Derek said.
"They died." I whispered.
"I know. That's why I made Bruce retire you." Derek said and I was curious to know his reasons.
"You knew they were going to die?" I asked.
"Yes and that attack was meant to kill you specifically." I paled. Who was trying to kill me.
"Do you know who it was?" The line was quiet then he spoke up.
"I don't know who it was but I'll try my best to find out for you." Derek said. Derek is very good with computers and he is awesome with tracking anything and everything that's why he's going to help me.
"Thank you and Derek?" I paused and waited for his reply.
"Yes Darshy?" He said.
"Come over. I have a surprise for you." I smiled.
"Okay. I'll be there soon." He said and hung up the phone.
10 minutes later and I heard a knock on my front door. I walked over to it and opened the door.
"Wow. That was very fast." I said as Derek came in.
"I'm a sucker for surprises so I came as soon as possible." He smiled cheekily and kissed my cheek. I smiled at him and kept smiling at him.

"Why are you smiling at me like that?" He asked in amusement.
"I want to see your mate." I said and his face broke out into a huge smile.
"You are serious?" I nodded my head. "Come on. Let's go now." He dragged me outside my house and we went into the woods where he would shift. He started taking off his clothes and I turned around. I felt his nuzzle touch my arm and I turned around. He bent over and I climbed up on his back. This felt like déjà vu except it wasn't with Raiden.
Derek is a grey colored wolf and he's as big as Raiden's wolf. I held onto his fur tightly and it felt quite different compared to when I held Raiden's fur. I shook off the thoughts but as much as I always try not to think of Raiden, I can't help it. Derek stopped and I didn't even know when we arrived because I was consumed with my thoughts. I slid off his back and he walked behind a tree to shift.
"Let's go. She's going to love you." Derek said as he emerged from the tree. He walked and I trailed behind him. We stopped in front of this huge house. The house was as big as mine and Raiden's house put together. That's how rich Derek is.
As soon as we entered the house, a beautiful dark haired girl with big brown eyes and pale skin approached us. Her hair below her waist and she was really gorgeous.
"Darshhhh!" She ran towards me and engulfed me in a bone crushing hug. I hugged her back and she released me.
"Hey baby." Derek said as he kissed her on the lips. I made a gagging sound and they laughed.
"Come one Darsh. I made lunch for all of us." She said as she pushed me to the dinning room.
"I can walk you know. No pushing." I said and she giggled. We settled down in the dining room and started eating out foods. Surprisingly, May and I got along pretty well. I like her.
"You know Darsh, we co-" May didn't get to complete her sentence because she threw up all over the table. Derek quickly rushed to her side and helped her. Suddenly, an older man rushed into the house and I figured Derek used mind-link to call him over.
The man whom I assume to be a doctor, took her somewhere to check on her. Derek kept pacing around the room.
"Don't worry Der. She's going to be fine." I assured him.
"How do you know?" He asked with so much sadness in his voice.
"I can feel it. So please sit down and let's wait for the doctor." I said and he sat down. I knew he was still worried. It's his mate after all. The doctor came out with a huge smile on his face.
"Congratulations alpha. Your mate is 3 weeks pregnant." Derek's face broke out into a huge smile. He rushed into the room where his mate was and I trailed behind him. I saw her lying on a bed with a smile on her face too. I stood at the door and watched them.
"You are gonna be a daddy." She said to Derek with teary eyes.
"And you are gonna be a mum." Derek said as he caressed her cheek gently. He kissed her on the lips then rested his forehead against hers. I realized that I could never have this kind of life.
"You can if you accept Raiden." My subconscious mind said.
I know Raiden's my mate but I'm not used to love. Although he gives me feelings I cannot explain, I couldn't give in to him.
"Darsh. Come here." May said and I snapped out of my thoughts. I went over to her and laid next to her.
"Congratulations." I smiled at her and she hugged me.
"If it's a girl, we will name her Darshana." May said to me and my eyes widened.
"That's too much. You don't have to name her after me." So many emotions were swirling my mind.
"Don't worry Darshy. We want to." May said and I grinned at her.
"If it's a boy?" I couldn't help but ask.
"We would name him Cameron." Derek said.
"You guys." I said as I enveloped them in a group hug. I released them and we all smiled.
All the happiness had me feeling somehow on the inside. Somehow, I wanted this kind of life.
"You can have it all with Raiden." My subconscious mind said.
I sighed.

Though it's a standard novel with Reincarnation and Cultivation 'The Inheritor' is not a HAREM and it'll have Romance. The action might take the back seat in the first part of the book. About the Author This is my first novel or any attempt to write something so I'm pretty much a newbie trying to pen down the fantasies rolling in my mind. English isn't my First language so brace yourself for some grammatic potholes. But I'm genuinely working on improving my English but it won't be happening overnight as it's a process, I guess. (for the time being, I'm trying to make it readable with some Grammar checking software) Moreover, I wish to improve my writing skills as the story grows and readers help in spotting mistakes or critics might turn it into a reality.

The Many Blades of Wuxia
Hundreds of years after the Heretic wars ended, life has returned to its blissful ignorant state that only peace could bring. Whilst the never-ending war between Man, Beast and Mutant rages on, most are not even aware of a war that happened between men. Its prophecies shattered, their remnants surviving only in obscure bard tales. One is about to grow. On the cracked face of the world, Essence storms and Beast Waves keep the citizenry locked atop the Emperor city of Qaelang. Knowledge of the past is as rare as the metals that flow into the hands of Sacred Artists and at the root of it all are whispers of a malignant force, ancient and terrible. Holding humanity back from achieving greatness, but hiding too are secrets best left untouched. Balance, discipline and order have held Qaelang secure since time immemorial, the powers within claiming to adhere to them. None are more fearful of change than the ones with the most to lose, but change is coming. Blade of Wuxia is a long character-focused epic fantasy with progression and growth. It's about a boy's quest to become powerful enough to save those he cares most for and give them a better life. It's set in a world of hidden pasts and uncovering them will set him on a path that shakes the Empire. As this is a rewrite that took on a wildly different spin, reviews are most welcome and help me do better. What can the reader expect? A Wuxia society set in a High fantasy world. People are only doing what they know and may have mistaken beliefs. A clever resourceful protagonist with human flaws A far-reaching hidden fantasy world, rich in history. Multiple points of view are used to follow the story to its natural conclusions, not every NPC has all the answers, but there is one MC in this book. Progression will take time and sometimes even unknowingly. MC is not trained in the ways and knowledge must be tempered against experimentation. Release Schedule. 2 chapters a week, family and work permitting. Only if I'm happy with the chapter will I release it. That being said I am open to revision should an articulated critical response show merit. This story is not completed yet but I do have a general idea of what the end looks like for both MC's (yes both) Ultimately feedback will be most influential on the progression of release as it's you guys I'm looking to entertain. Expected Changes None really, I'm writing as I go and have a path planned for 6 books Chapter release rate might change if we take off and feedback starts flowing, but for now, it is just about making sure Arcs flow smoothly onto the next. Cover, yes absolutely! If there is enough interest I will open a Patreon account and use the first proceeds to commission an EPIC cover and hopefully a few scary artworks of our brave Cultivators and the foes they face.
