《Stuck in Between (Reaper!Sans X Reader)》~Chapter 4~

The bird quickly took a liking to you and Frisk as you explored the ruins. Even after the granola bar was gone, the small animal remained perched on your shoulder, cawing happily as you spoke with Frisk. You let it remain, not bothered by the feathery passenger. Frisk didn't seem to mind the newcomer either.
Soon you arrived at the front of a cozy looking home. Around front there was a tree and bushes of golden blooms. A familiar sense of welcome calm filled you and vague memories returned, just out of your reach of truly knowing.
"Based on the fuzzy feels, I'm guessing this is goat mama's house." You chirped.
Frisk smiled and nodded. "At least your getting the basics." He mused.
You elbowed him playfully and giggled. "I didn't loose all my memories. I know the basics, I just have to glance it before they come back. It's actual events I don't remember. You'll find out more once we get to Sans."
Frisk rolled his eyes and you giggled, ruffling his hair. Toriel opened the door and scanned the yard, quickly finding us. "Oh! Hello my children. I apologize for leaving you, the business was urgent. Please come in! I'll show you to your room."
You smiled sweetly and followed her, Frisk following close after you. Toriel glanced at your bird, but didn't seem to mind your new pet. You walked through the house, feeling safe within the warm yellow walls. Toriel opened a door and you looked inside to find a child's room. Two twin-sized beds were parallel on the two sides of the room. A wardrobe was pressed against the back wall and some old drawings were stuck to the wall. You examined the room as Frisk ran past you and dive - bombed into the closest quilted bed. Both you and Toriel giggled as you watched him wiggle underneath covers.
"You two should rest." Toriel cooed gently. Frisk nodded happily and shrank deeper into the covers. You followed in suit, seating yourself on the other bed. Toriel smiled at you and left, closing the door behind her. A crystal acted as a nightlight within the room and you looked over at Frisk.
"So do we go to sleep?" You asked.
"I always do! These beds are by far the comfiest, and it rejuvenates you!" He chirped.
You looked at your bed and shrugged. Kicking off the shoe you wore, you pressed your back into the bed and gazed at the ceiling. The crow on your shoulder flitted to the end of the bed and cawed. You could hear as Frisk groaned.
"You better not caw all night... uh.... what's its name?" He asked.
You looked at the bird and thought a few moments. "How about Pluto?" You suggested.
The crow seemed to shake its head as Frisk giggled. "Pluto? Like the dog from Mickey Mouse?"
You rolled your eyes and sent a look towards Frisk. "No you uncultured swine. I'm talking about the Roman god of the Underworld."
Frisk giggled again and looked at the bird. "If your looking for ancient names, what about Hades then? Isn't that the Greek version of Pluto?"

The crow bounced around and you smiled. "He likes it." You whooped.
Frisk grinned and rolled on his side. "Goodnight (Y/N). Goodnight Hades."
"Goodnight Frisk." You cooed, accompanied Hades' quiet caw.
You folded your hands and rolled to your side, letting the hands of sleep pull your body into a not so peaceful slumber.

You walked through the woods, the only sound being your feet crunching the snow and your quiet breaths. A numb feeling filled you as you walked alone. Everything around you felt off. Buildings surrounded you but you saw no one. A strange dust fell with the snow. It felt familiar in the worst way. You walked slowly until heavy snow blinded you. Your legs still and you squinted into the curtain of frozen vapor. The sillouhette of a skeleton, tall and armored, appeared before you. He skull was long and narrow, a smile spreading over his face. On his body he wore armor like clothes with high red boots, gloves and a scarf to match.
"Ah! There you are! It is finally time I, the Great Papyrus, capture you!" He said bravely.
An empty laugh left your lips as you looked at him. Cool metal pressed into your hand and your head snapped up. Papyrus' smile seemed to falter but he still stood strong. His hallow eyes glanced around you as if looking for someone.
"Excuse my asking, but wasn't there two of you?!" He asked.
Your face rose and you felt completely empty as you looked at him. This was wrong. You knew it was, but you had no power to change it. Slowly your arm rose, the blade in you palm pointed towards Papyrus.
"Frisk was weak and puny. He was just like these pitiful townsfolk." You said in a low tone.
Deep within your body, you fought to remember. These words were yours but not yours. You couldn't remember what they meant but you felt like you needed to.
Papyrus' fell completely as he looked down at you. "You killed the tiny human?!" He asked.
The laugh that shook you was violent and malicous, even making yourself cringe. "Oh it wasn't just him Papy! This entire town was lucky enough to taste my blade!"
Horror filled your heart. You had caused this? You murdered an entire village?!
Suddenly the colored leaked from the words and you saw only the skeleton you faced. He looked sad as he summoned an array of bones around him, but didn't propel them at you. In front of you sat for options.
-Fight -Act -Items -Mercy
Without you consent you had raised, smacking agressivly on the Fight button. The buttons dissolved and you gripped the knife aggressively. Laughing maniacally as you charged the monster, swinging you're blade with articulate moves. The blade fell against him, the HP bar above him lowering considerably.
His hissed in pain but still looked at you with pitty. "You don't have to be this way human." He said quietly.
You met his gaze and watched as the bones propelled towards you. Not expecting the attack, a large bone swung into your side and you screamed out as ribs snapped under it. Anger filled you but you still didn't want to fight your attacker. These weren't your actions. They were someone else's. You quickly moved to your feet again, assaulting Papyrus with your blade once again. His HP lowered but he took the damage willingly.

"Please human! We don't have to fight!" He cried.
Bones flew towards you but you dodged them more successfully. Your eyes were wide with insanity as your teeth bore an uncomfortable smile. Again and again you followed the pattern, each time leaking more and more of his HP and retaining your own skillfully.
Finally it changed. You sat numbly within your body as you watched the blade left a deep gash across his chest. His smile fell completely as he fell back a step. His body shifted and dissolved into dust, only his head and scarf remaining. His head fell to the ground, scarf fluttering next to him. His saddened eyes rose to meet yours.
"It's sad that I could not stop you young human. Sometimes even my best encouragement... means nothing. I'm sorry Sans. I believe in the good in you human. You just have to try!"
You limped forward, broken ribs raking your side with pulsating pain. Your foot rose out of the snow and fell against this face, pressing more and more. Fear laced his words as an orange tear fell from one of his hallow eyes. "It's okay human! Don't give up! I believe in you!" He said with a quivering tone.
You laid more weight into your foot and his skull shattered into a cloud of dust. Regret and sorrow laced your veins but you moved on, footprints inlaid with his ashes. Your heart throbbed and a scream erupted from your mouth as your eyes flew open.
You panted and looked around, thankful you had control over your limbs once again. Tears streaked your face and your side was teeming with foreign pain. With silent sobs, you grabbed your side and winced. Hades soared to your side and landed on your nightstand, gazing at you with the bird equivalent of concern. Two pairs of footsteps led to the door and it swung open.
The lights flickered to life and Toriel's image was revealed, followed by Frisk. You tried to sit up but fell again. Toriel seemed scared by your sudden outburst
"My child, what is wrong? Why did you cry out like that?" She asked.
You clenched your teeth shut and hissed, motioning aggressively at your side. Frisk nodded and grabbed the hem of your shirt, looking at your side. Both him and Toriel gasped as your misshapen side was revealed. You glanced at it to find your ribs out of place.
Toriel put a hand over Frisk and looked at him. "Frisk, go get (Y/N) a slice of pie. I'll try to use my magic on her." She instructed.
Frisk nodded and darted away. Toriel laid pressure against your side and you bit down a cry, blood leaking into your mouth from your tongue.
"This will hurt my child, do not hesitate to scream if you must."
You nodded silently and clutched your fist. Hades jumped around you, looking at the wound as it erupted with green light. You cried out as the ribs shifted under your skin, forcing them selves into their prior places and then bonding themselves once again. As your nerves reconnected you cried out, but the pain soon ebbed into a sore pulsing.
Panting and hissing due to the soreness, you sat up slowly with Toriel's help. Frisk rushed in and looked at you, an alluring plate of pie in his hand. You placed it gently in your hands and you immediately dove into it. As you knew, monster food restored HP and somehow you'd managed to loose some.
"(Y/N), how did you injure yourself while sleeping?!" Frisk asked.
You shrugged and put a hand against your head. "I-I don't know. I mean, it happened in my dream but I didn't do anything!" You exclaimed.
Toriel looked worried with your response but placed a hand on your leg. "It is okay if you can't remember my child. You just scared us." She said softly.
You nodded but it still bothered you. Toriel left to make some herbal tea that would supposedly help with the pain. You noticed that Hades wasn't by your side but you assumed that was due to your screaming. He probably wouldn't be back.

P.o.V. Reaper!Sans
I was sitting with my concerned friend when my thoughts were interrupted by a certain crow. A cloud of feathers encompassed him as his small form took that of a man. He approached and kneeled down, bowing his head.
"Reaper, I have news regarding (Y/N)." He said in a clipped tone.
Tori darted up from my side and looked at him. "What has happened?! Is my child okay?!" She asked.
My eyes shifted to him and he continued. "Her body is already recalling the sins of her past life. In her last sleep, she remembered the death of her friend, Papyrus, and she awoke baring the first injury she faced in the murder. She woke in a great deal of pain, but was healed but UnderTale's version of the Goddess Toriel."
Toriel seemed relieved that (Y/N) had been healed but I knew what this meant. "Stay with her for the time being crow. If her body is rejecting her soul's past then she might deteriorate soon. Get me if her soul's in danger of falling."
He nodded and straightened his posture. A smirk painted his humane face as he faced me. "What's so amusing?" I asked, raising a none existent brow.
"You really care for this one, don't you Reaper."
I rolled my eyes and laughed. "I'm just doing my job and tracking the souls. Just get going to your job crow."
"Hades." He corrected. "I allowed (Y/N) to call me Hades."
I laughed and looked at him. "You finally let a human name you? You like her that much?"
He smiled before turning back into a bird.
"You'd be crazy not to."
