《the 2 heavenly demon brothers (Hiatus)》chapter 11

At this moment, in the dark green water of the lake, a long shadow flitted by, circling the boats. After Jiang Cheng had finished cutting at the water spirits on his side, he was still careful about not missing anything. Upon seeing the shadow, he immediately yelled out, "It's coming again!"
luo wuxian and lan wangji stopped looking at each other like lovebirds hearing the shout and was alert and on-guard
Several disciples rowed, propelling forward, and used nets to chase after the shadow in the water. There was another shout on the other side, "They're here too!"
In the water on that side, there was also a shadow that turned and passed them, and several narrow boats dragging nets sped over; however, they didn't capture anything. Luo Wuxian said intentionally, "How strange. This shadow's form doesn't look human. "
Luo wuxian mentally rolled his eyes and thought ' i know its not human'
and continued "It's also long then short, large then small...Lan Zhan, beside your boat!"
Responding to this, Bichen unsheathed from Lan Wangji's back and pierced the water. After a brief moment, it flew out of the lake with a sharp whistle, bringing along with it a rainbow of water. Yet, it didn't pierce anything either.
He held his sword in his hand, his expression cold and solemn, and just as he was about to speak, another disciple on the side also cast out his sword, stabbing at the shadow that swiftly swam past underwater. However, after his sword had entered the water, it never came out. He performed the sword tactic (1), summoning it again and again, but nothing was summoned out of the water. It was as if his sword had been swallowed up by the lake water and disappeared without a trace. This disciple seemed to be a youth who was around the same age as Luo Wuxian and the others. Having lost his sword, his face grew paler and paler.
On the side, a senior disciple said, "Su She, at present, we haven't figured out what the thing in the water is. Why did you make your sword enter the water without permission?"
Su She looked somewhat nervous, but his expression could still be considered calm. "I saw the Second Young Master make his sword enter the water too..."
He realized before he finished speaking that these words had no sense of propriety. No matter what, if it were Lan Wangji or the sword, Bichen, other people couldn't compare. Lan Wangji could summon his sword into the water without a problem when the opponent was unknown, but other people may not necessarily be able to. His complexion was pale, yet some redness from shame also showed through as if he had been humiliated, and he glanced at Lan Wangji. However, Lan Wangji didn't look at him, his attention fixed on the water, and in a flash, Bichen was unsheathed once more.
This time, the blade of the sword wasn't inserted into the water, and instead, the tip of the sword stirred, fishing out a piece of the shadow that whizzed by in the water. A wet, black mass fell onto the floor of the boat with a plop. Luo Wuxian stood on his toes to look and saw that it was actually a piece of clothing.
Luo Wuxian laughed, nearly plunging headfirst into the lake, and he said, "Lan Zhan, you're so amazing! It's the first time I saw someone pull off a water spirit's clothes while capturing water spirits."
Lan Wangji simply examined Bichen's tip to see if there was anything unusual, and it seemed as if he had already planned to not converse with him.

Jiang Cheng remarked, "You should shut up. What swam over just now really wasn't a water spirit. It was merely a piece of clothing!"
Of course Luo Wuxian saw it clearly as well, but he would just feel uncomfortable all over if he didn't tease Lan Wangji with a few words, and he replied, "The thing that swam around just now was really this piece of clothing? No wonder the nets couldn't catch it, swords couldn't stab it, and its shape kept changing. But a piece of clothing can't swallow a divine sword. There is definitely something else in the water."
At this moment, the boats had already floated to the center of Biling Lake. The color of the lake water was extremely dark, a blackish green. All of a sudden, Lan Wangji slightly lifted his head and said, "Go back immediately."
Lan Xichen asked, "Why?"
Lan Wangji replied, "The thing in the water deliberately led the boats to the center of Biling Lake."
As soon as his words went out, everyone felt the bodies of their boats sink.
Water quickly streamed into the boats, and Luo Wuxian suddenly realized the water of Biling Lake was no longer a deep green, but was nearly black. In particular, close to the center of the lake, the surrounding area had produced a gigantic whirlpool without anyone noticing. The ten or so boats were spinning along with the whirlpool, sinking while circling about as if they were being sucked downwards by a huge, black mouth!
The clanging sounds of swords unsheathing rang out, and everyone mounted their swords and rose in succession. Luo Wuxian had already ascended into the sky. He looked down, but saw that the disciple, Su She, who had driven his sword into the water, was standing on his boat that was already being swallowed up by Biling Lake. Water had reached his knees. Although panic filled his face, he didn't call for help, and it was unknown if he was scared stiff.
Luo Wuxian thought with an exasperated expression ' oh goodness gracious ' and stooped down and reached out with his hand, grabbing his wrist and pulling him up.
a great force suddenly came from Su She, nearly pulling Luo Wuxian off his sword. The lower half of Su She's body was already immersed in the black whirlpool. As the whirlpool spun more and more rapidly, his body sunk deeper and deeper, as if something hiding underwater were holding onto his legs and dragging him down.
Jiang Cheng originally stood on his Sandu, and calm in the face of chaos, he ascended to around seventy meters above the surface of the lake. He lowered his head to look, and feeling wholly displeased, he rushed down, saying, "What are you doing now?!"
Luo wuxian could actually destroy the abbys but he cant since there are people watching .
The sucking force from Biling Lake grew stronger and stronger then Luo wuxian telepatically told the abbys 'if you harm me or anyone here , i would destroy you without any mercy!' All of a sudden, the back of Luo Wuxian's collar tightened, and his body was lifted high into the air. He turned his head to look. Lan Wangji was lifting the back of his collar with one hand. Although Lan Wangji only gazed in another direction with an indifferent look, he and his sword alone supported the weight of three people and contended with the unknown, strange force in the lake at the same time. Yet, their position in the air still rose steadily.

Jiang Cheng was slightly startled. 'If I had rushed to be the first to pull Luo Wuxian up while riding Sandu, I probably wouldn't have been able to ascend so quickly and steadily. Lan Wangji is only around my age...' he thought
At this time, Luo Wuxian said, "Lan Zhan, your sword has quite a lot of strength, doesn't it? Thank you, thank you. But why are you grabbing my collar? Can't you hold me instead? I feel really uncomfortable if you do this. I'll reach my hand out to you so you can hold onto me, okay?"
Lan Wangji coldly replied, "I do not touch other people."
Luo Wuxian said with a joking tone but is actually brimming with possessiveness internally not that lan wangji notices, "We're already so familiar. How am I still 'other people'?"
Lan Wangji responded, "We are not familiar." he only said that so people wont know their relationship
Luo Wuxian commented, "How can you be like this...?"
Jiang Cheng was truly unable to bear this, and he scolded, "How can you be like this?!!! When someone is grabbing you by the collar and suspending you midair, can't you say a few words less?!"
Everyone swiftly withdrew from Biling Lake on their swords and descended on the riverbank. Lan Wangji let go of the back of Luo Wuxian's collar and calmly turned around. To Lan Xichen, he said, "It is an aqua abyss."
Lan Xichen shook his head. "This is troublesome."
At the mention of "aqua abyss," Jiang Cheng understood. The scariest thing in Biling Lake and this river channel wasn't the water spirits, but rather, was the water that flowed in them.
Because of the terrain or current, shipwrecks or people falling overboard happened frequently in some rivers or lakes. Over time, the water would develop a temper. It was just like a spoiled young lady who refused to live a life short of luxury. After a period of time, it would want cargo ships and living people to sink in the water as sacrifices. If there weren't any, it would act up and demand them itself.
The people in the region of Caiyi Town all knew the waters well, and shipwrecks or falling overboard had always been extremely rare. It was impossible that an aqua abyss would grow nearby. Since the aqua abyss had appeared here, there was only one possibility: it had been chased over from someplace else.
Once an aqua abyss had formed, then it meant that the entire body of water had become a monster, and it was quite difficult to eliminate unless the water were drained, all the people and objects that had sunken were fished out, and the riverbed were exposed to the blazing sun for three to five years. Yet, this matter was nearly impossible to accomplish. However, there was a method that could momentarily solve the problem at the detriment of others, and it was one side of the problem. It was to drive it away to another river and lake so it could wreak havoc elsewhere.
Lan Wangji asked, "Recently, have there been any places that have been disturbed by an aqua abyss?"
Lan Xichen pointed at the sky.
He wasn't pointing at anything else but the sun. Luo Wuxian and Jiang Cheng glanced at each other, and it was clear to them. The Qishan Wen Sect.
In the cultivation world, large and small clans were scattered all over like stars in the sky or chess pieces on a board, too numerous to count. However, above these, a titan domineered over them—the Qishan Wen Sect.
The Wen Sect used the sun as the symbol of their clan, and it described "contending with the sun for splendor, matching the sun in longevity." The sect residence occupied quite a vast area, comparable to a city. Its name was Nightless Sky, which was also known as the "Nightless Divine City." It was said that there was no nightfall in the city. It was said to be a titan because no matter if it were the number of disciples, or the amount of power, territory, or magical tools, all other clans were far inferior and were unable to compete against it. Many cultivators regarded being a guest disciple in the Wen Sect as the highest honor. According to the Wen Sect's style of conducting business, it was very likely that the aqua abyss at Caiyi Town had been chased over by them.
Although they knew the origin of the water spirits here, everyone was speechless.
If it were done by the people of the Wen Clan, no matter how much they accused and condemned them, it was to no avail. Firstly, the clan wouldn't admit to it. Secondly, they wouldn't provide any compensation.
A disciple was indignant and said, "The clan chased the aqua abyss over here and it will certainly harm Caiyi Town. If the aqua abyss grows larger, it will spread into the town's river channels. Then, so many people would be eking out a living with a monster. This is truly..."
If a difficult case like this was cast aside by others and befell them, the Gusu Lan Sect would definitely be put through constant trouble from now on. Lan Xichen sighed and said, "Forget it, forget it. Let us head back to the town."
They boarded new boats at the crossing and rowed towards the area of the town that was densely packed with people.
After they passed an arch bridge, the boats entered the river channel, and Luo Wuxian broke out again.
He tossed aside his bamboo pole, stepped onto the side of the boat, and looked into the water's reflection to see if his hair was disheveled. As if he hadn't just been catching water spirits and escaping from the mouth of an aqua abyss, he calmly threw out a series of charming winks at both sides of the river channel. "Sisters , how much is it for half a kilogram of loquats?"
He was young, and his appearance was bright and handsome. In high spirits like this, he was truly like a frivolous peach blossom chasing the running water . A woman lifted her bamboo hat, waved her hand, and smiling, said, "Young Master, there's no need to pay. How 'bout I gift you one?"
The Wu dialect was soft and sticky, clear and sweet. The speaker's lips moved in a heartwarming way, and the listener's ears were filled with fragrance. luo Wuxian cupped his hands together in respect and replied, "If it's gifted to me by Sister, then of course I want it!"
The woman reached into her basket and felt around, then threw a round, golden loquat at him. "No need to be so polite. You look so handsome!"
Lan wangji thought 'of course he is handsome'
The boats traveled very quickly. As the two boats met, they instantly passed each other by. Luo Wuxian turned around and caught the fruit in his hand, and he said with a smile, "Sister looks even prettier!" While he was showing off in an exaggerated way on the side
Lan Wangji was steadily looking forward, wholly noble in character but internally fuming with jealousy and thought ' Luo ying is supposed to flirt with me!'.
Luo Wuxian smugly tossed the loquat up and down in his hand noticing lan wangji's jealousy that he could see even with that cold mask, then he suddenly pointed at him and asked, "Sisters, do you think that he looks handsome?"
In any event, Lan Wangji didn't anticipate that he would suddenly pull him into the conversation either. Just as he was unsure about how to respond, the women on the river all answered, "Even more handsome!" Amid this, it seemed that there were even a few sounds of laughter from men mixed in.
Luo Wuxian inquired, "Then, who's going to gift him one? If you only give one to me and don't give any to him, I'm afraid he might be jealous of me when we go back!"
he thought 'not jealous of me but jealous of you girls actually'
The entire length of the river rippled with talking and laughter that sounded like the chirping of orioles. Another woman pushed her boat over to them and said, "Okay, okay, I'll give you two. Eat mine. Young Master, catch!"
The second one also fell into his hand, and Luo Wuxian yelled, "Sisters are both pretty and kind-hearted. I'll come to buy them next time. I'll buy a whole basket!"
Lan wangji's fist clenched drinking more vinegar listening to boyfriend and some women continues flirtinng
The woman, whose voice was bright and whose courage was also great, pointed at Lan Wangji and said, "Tell him to come too. Come together to buy them!"
Luo Wuxian presented the loquat to Lan Wangji. Looking ahead with a level gaze, Lan Wangji responded, "Take it away." but thought ' take it away i dont want loquats from girls who you flirted with '
And so, Luo Wuxian took it away. "I just knew you definitely wouldn't want it."
and thought' because of them '
and continued "So, I wasn't planning to give it to you anyway. Jiang Cheng, catch!"
Jiang Cheng just happened to be swiftly drifting past in another boat, and he caught the loquat with one hand, a small smile appearing on his face. Soon after, he snorted and said, "Are you flirting again?"
Extremely (smug) proud of his success, Luo Wuxian replied, "Get lost!" Then, he turned around and asked, "Lan Zhan, you're from Gusu. Can you speak the dialect here too? Teach me, how do you swear in the Gusu dialect?"
Lan Wangji threw a "ridiculous" at him and boarded another boat. Luo Wuxian hadn't hoped for him to really answer, but he was very intrigued after hearing the coy accents of the people here, and thinking that Lan Wangji had certainly also spoken in this dialect from a young age, he just wanted to tease him and to hear how the accent sounds when lan wangji is under him. He raised his head and drank a mouthful of rice wine. He carried the plump, shining black jar in his hand, grabbed ahold of his bamboo pole, and went over to hit Jiang Cheng.
On the other hand, Lan Wangji stood side by side with Lan Xichen. This time, even their expressions were somewhat similar. Both looked to be preoccupied with thoughts as they contemplated how to respond to the issue of the aqua abyss and how to explain many of the follow-up matters to the mayor of Caiyi Town.
In front of them, a heavy cargo ship came over, filled with hefty baskets of golden loquats. Lan Wangji gave it a (dirty) glance, then continued to look ahead.
However, Lan Xichen saw the dirty looks and jealousy lan wangji threw at the innocent loquat and asked curious, "If you want to eat loquats, should we buy a basket to bring back?"
"..."
With a flick of his sleeves, Lan Wangji responded, "I do not!"
Once again, he boarded another boat.
Luo wuxian was watching what lan wangji was doing and smirk secretly seeing his lover / boyfriend sulking and jealous
