《My Mate the Wanderer》11. Accalia

"Stuck with who?" I said out loud.

A look of concern flashed across Tyler's face.

"It was more then likely your wolf." He said in a gentle voice.

A pain flared over the bite on my shoulder.

Although the pain from the bite was slowly dissipating the pain in my head only grew as the day went on.

Tyler stuck his hand out and gently grabbed my arm to comfort me.

I think he could tell that I was on the verge of breaking.

I sucked in a breath to help calm myself down.

It's not fair.

All that I wanted was to live a normal life but again it looks like all of my plans are getting shifted to the back burner.

"Why me?" I asked Tyler with a whimper.

"None of my family are wolves. I mean we lived in the city. That doesn't really seem to be an ideal place for a wolf to live."

I knew that there was no way my family would have been able to hide a secret as big as this from me.

"Aubree, this may be hard to hear but if that's true and they don't know anything about this then you will have a tough choice ahead of you."

"What choice?" I asked Tyler.

He stayed silent looking as though he was afraid to say it.

"He's saying that you might need to leave your family. Nuntis wouldn't tell me the details but he said it would be for their safety and ours."

I let what the female voice told me sink in.

Why would it be safer if I was gone?

I'm not a danger to myself or them.

"Who is Nuntis?" I said out loud.

Tyler cleared his throat.

"Nuntis is my wolf. They can speak to each other since we're in close proximity to each other. Similar to the way a pack of weres or a mated couple can communicate in their heads. But our wolves can do it naturally since we're mates."

"Does that mean you can get into my head?" I asked while becoming uncomfortable with the ideas of anyone knowing my personal thoughts.

"No, you would have to allow me into a mind link with you." He said matter-of-factly.

I sighed in relief, happy that my thoughts were safe from the outside world.

"Well except from me since we're almost one in the same." My wolf said with a chuckle.

"What's your name?" I asked unsure of wether or not I really wanted to know.

"Accalia, and you don't have to talk out loud and announce our conversations to the world, girl."

So my thoughts aren't only for myself anymore I suppose.

"As I said you are stuck with me."

I took a second to go over everything in my mind.

Why wouldn't it be safe to be with my family.

Could it be that Tyler's wolf thinks we're a danger to them?

I was pulled from my thoughts when Tyler's gentle tone brought me back to reality.

"Aubree, I think you should stay with me for a couple of days while you figure out your new self so you don't put you or your family at risk."

Tyler looked at me calmly while he surveyed my face for a reaction to what he said.

A chuckle escaped me.

"My parents would never let me stay away with someone they barely know."

"I can take care of that so they will gladly agree." He said while his mouth curled up into a coy smile.

"Ya, good luck with that." I said with sarcasm dripping off of every word.

"I am serious though Aubree, the next full moon is in two days and since you have never shifted before it will be a difficult transition."

I gulped and looked at my shoes.

I'm still certain that I'm not ok with the whole wolf thing but I guess I don't really get a choice in the matter.

I'm just going to have to move forward and accept that I'm a freaky wolf girl now.

"Does it hurt?" I said, my voice barely above a whisper.

Tyler didn't immediately respond so I snapped my head up to him.

What I came face to face with was the most beautiful smile that lit up all of his face.

"I won't lie to you, it hurts like crazy the first time, but once you've shifted it's exhilarating."

"Perfect." I said sarcastically.

The thought of my body morphing into a beast made my breath hitch as fear quickly set in.

I could tell from the way that Tyler eyed me with concern that this was probably be the most difficult thing that I've ever been through.

"Don't worry, girl, I will be there with you the whole way." Accalia said confidently.

Tyler grabbed my hand and lead me back through the woods towards the car.

I got the answers that I needed, but the real question now is if I really wanted them.

I honestly don't know if I'm going to be able to handle all of this, but I suppose all I can really do is try to roll with the punches.

As we walked Tyler began to walk at a faster pace.

He looked over his shoulder with a playful smirk.

To my surprise I wasn't having trouble keeping up.

Am I stronger then I was yesterday?

When we reached Tyler's car it dawned on me that he never told me his master plan to get my parent to agree to let me go with him for a few days.

"So, uh, how exactly do you plan on convincing my parents to let me leave with you?"

"That's easy. I'm a very persuasive man." He said with a wink.

I lightly chuckled at his overconfidence.

He's never had to deal with my parents before so this will probably be a true test of his skills.

I couldn't take anymore action for the day so I just shrugged my shoulder and decided that I would leave it up to him.

Once I sat down in the passenger side of the car exhaustion took the place of all the uncertainty I felt.

I leaned my head against the window and let my eyes close so I could rest and absorb everything that has happened today.

"Just sleep for a bit, girl, let our mate take care of everything."

I let my body relax into the seat as the drone of the car lulled me into sleep.
