"Oh my fucking god, I hate my life." Rosalie groans as they hike up the mountain and Klaus looks at her with a small smile holds out his hand which she takes as she is behind them and Klaus goes slower and he wraps his arm around her shoulders still holding hands.

"Why? I mean life would be pretty boring without you." He says and Stefan rolls his eyes

"Can you stop flirting already? I mean that's my sister." Stefan says

"What's the matter? Is Ray getting heavy?" Klaus says smirking.

"I'm fine." Stefan says

"You sure about that? We've been walking for quite some time now, do you need some water or a little sit down?" He taunts

"You know, I get that we're stuck together but if we could maybe just skip the chitchat, it'd be great." Stefan says

"So much brooding. Your self loathing is suffocating you, my friend." Klaus says

"Maybe it's because I'm a little tired of hunting werewolves. We've been at it all summer." Stefan answers.

"Thanks to our pal, Ray, we've found ourselves a pack." He says and we stop to see people talking and then stop to see Stefan drop Ray

"Ray, oh my god," A woman cries "what's going on? Who are you?" She asks and Klaus walks to Stefan with Rosalie still under his arm

"The important question is, who am I? Please forgive the intrusion, my name is Klaus."

"You're the hybrid." She says.

"You've heard of me, fantastic."

"It's fascinating actually, a werewolf who isn't beholden to the moon, a vampire who doesn't burn in the sun. A true hybrid."Klaus says sitting on a log and then Ray wakes up gasping

"Excellent timing, Ray. Very dramatic." He says

"What's happening to me?" Rays asks and Klaus turns to Stefan

"Stefan?"

"Are any of you human? Your friend here needs human blood to complete his transformation to a vampire, if he doesn't get it, he will die." Stefan says

"Doesn't take much, just a sip. Anyone? A boyfriend, a girlfriend, along for the ride." Klaus says.

"Why don't you use her?" The woman says looking at Rosalie

"I'm not human, I'm a Phoenix. A Phoenix who can kill you and you human boyfriend- which is why you said me to get the attention away from him- with a single touch." Rosalie says.

Klaus then looks at the man and realises she was right,

"You." Klaus says and he bites the man's wrist and moves him to the ground where Stefan keeps him holding him by his neck with his arm held out to Ray and Klaus puts the woman in a chokehold.

"You don't drink it, Ray, I will. Problem is, I don't know how to stop." Stefan says

"It's the new order, sweetheart, you join us or you die." Klaus says

"I'd rather die than be a vampire." She says.

"Wrong choice," He says and then he feeds her his blood and then he snaps her neck and Ray drinks the blood

"She'll thank me for that later. Okay, who's next?"He says, showing his hybrid face.

Rosalie couldn't look away she was mesmerised and it wasn't just the bond.

"There, good as new. Now you relax, okay, mate? We're going to need you when the rest of them wake up." Klaus compels the human man then turns to Ray, who is sitting on the log shivering

"They're dead. They're all dead." Ray says.

"Well, he's through his transition, he should be feeling better soon." Klaus says

"So is this your plan? Build an army of hybrid slaves?" Stefan asks

"No, not slaves. Soldiers. Comrades." Klaus corrects.

"For what war, might I ask?" Stefan asks

"Well, you don't arm yourself after war has been declared, Stefan. You build your army so big that no one ever dares pick the fight." Klaus says

"What makes you so sure that they'll be loyal?" Stefan questions.

"It's not difficult to be loyal when you're on the winning team. That's something you'll learn once you shake that horribly depressive chip off your shoulder." Klaus says

"That's why you're keeping me around? To witness my attitude adjustment." Stefan says and Klaus looks at Ray and sees his eyes bleeding

"You'll know why I'm keeping you around when I've decided that I want you to know." Klaus says.

"Something's wrong." Klaus says and Rosalie walks to them and see Ray's eyes bleeding

"Huh. That shouldn't be happening, should it?" Stefan asks and Klaus looks at him

"Well, obviously." Rosalie says

"You said it was going to feel better. Why doesn't it feel better?" Ray cries.

"Some master race." Stefan says sarcastically

"Lose the attitude. Derek come feed your girlfriend," Klaus says when the woman wakes up and Ray then shoots up running and Klaus turns to Stefan "go get him." And Stefan follows Ray.

"I miss Russell." Rosalie says, they decided to leave Russel with a pet sitter until they got back but then Rosalie realised she had separation anxiety and so did Russell.

"You'll see him soon I promise." He says

Rosalie and Klaus decide to look for Stefan and they decide to split up and Rosalie ends up in the middle of the forest.

She then knew something was wrong when she saw it was night

"Stefan!" She calls into the darkness but the only response she gets in the sound of her voice echoing back to her

"STEFAN!" She shouts but it only echos through the forest again.

Then a spark catches her eye and she turns and trees are covered with burning with flames of orange fire, her body temperature changes from cold to boiling hot as her breath becomes irregular.

The sound of screaming rang in her ears and she runs toward the sound to see a mother and her child hiding and Rosalie ran towards them but it was too late a dark figure with a hood over it's face walked towards them and with a single touch made their bodies turn into ashes as they scream in pain and horror.

The figure then pulled off it's hood to reveal itself.

It was Rosalie.

Then someone grabs her shoulders and she punches the person and then snaps out of her trance and sees Klaus standing there holding his nose.

"Wh-what happened?" Rosalie asks looking around her surroundings

"I found Stefan and then went to look for you when I saw you standing here and I grabbed your shoulders and you broke my nose." Klaus says taking his hand away as it bleeds and turns around and puts it back into place.

"Shit! I'm so sorry." Rosalie says and lifts his shirt up to reveal his abdomen and wipes the blood from his nose

"Whatcha doing, love?" Klaus asks as she reaches up and uses his abdomen as support

"You've got so much blood on you, I doubt it would hurt to have more." She says and then there's a silence.

"Was it the same as the night in the hotel?" Klaus asks and Rosalie looks down and nods

"I'm fine though." Rosalie says looking up at him but he could see small tears pricking her eyes.

"Are you though?"

It's night now and Rosalie is making a spear to put into the fire with a army knife

"Bad news, my friend. End of the road for you." Klaus compels Derek and then he bites his neck and then Derek falls to the ground officially dead.

Klaus then looks over to his mate

"What are you doing?" Klaus asks

"Making a spear so I can light it on fire." Rosalie says and accidentally cuts a piece of skin on her finger

"Fuck." She mutters and wipes the blood away and Klaus sits next to her and looks at the cut

"Don't worry, you'll live." He whispers and Rosalie looks at him and they both start to lean in.

Then hybrids start to circle around Klaus and Rosalie and they both stand up

"Careful, there's only one alpha here," He says and then notices the blood coming from their eyes,

"Bloody hell." he says and then fights them and killing some.

And Rosalie tries at to stab them with her spear.

Stefan comes back with dead Ray over his shoulders and then drops him as Rosalie and Klaus sit on a log.

"They went rabid, some of them I killed, the others just bled out," Klaus says and then stands up with a beer bottle, "in the end, they're all dead."

Then he throws it at a tree smashing the bottle shouting,

"I did everything I was told! I should be able to turn them, I broke the curse, I killed a werewolf, I killed a vampire, I killed the doppelgänger!"

Klaus then looks at Stefan

"You look like hell." He comments

"Last time I checked, I was dying. You don't wanna heal me. I had to take him out, I didn't have a choice. I failed you, I'm sorry. Do what you have to do."

"I'm sorry, you are what?" Rosalie asks but she is ignored

"It should have worked.'' Klaus says and gets an empty bottle and bite his wrist and puts the blood in it handing it to Stefan.

"Bottoms up. We're leaving." And he looks at all the dead hybrids and turns to Rosalie offering his hand and turns to Stefan

"It appears you two are the only comrades I have left." And leaves with Rosalie

"I'm sorry about the hybrids, Nik." She says looking at him and he glances at her

"It's alright, love." He says.

"Now, we have a long journey ahead of us." Klaus says

"Where are we going?" Rosalie asks

"Chicago."
