《✔️Ambrosia (Edward Cullen) BOOK ONE》52-"The Prisoner"

Ambrosia Hatton had quickly grown to hate the random pretty white house, time was only known by her due to the rising and falling of the sun through the small window... It had been a week, and in that time- she had only seen Victoria and Riley. Both of whom only came to mock her, or so she assumed. Victoria had quickly fallen in her mind from a deluded grieving woman to an absolutely crazy murdering, torturous nomad. However, she allowed her out to use the toilet and to feed her. It seemed that despite it all- they wanted her to live.

"Victoria" Ambrosia called, voice rough from lack of use as she pointlessly shook the door for the millionth time. Every day, the hope of rescue seemed to grow less and less likely and the thing that scared her the most- was the fact that her fear was slowly weakening- Ambrosia no longer had a hammering heart as she had when she'd first arrived and that was the worst part, she was growing used to being held captive.

"Victoria" she called again weakly as she flopped to sit on the bed, Ambrosia had considered all of her options- she had tried the door, of course, that was an obvious route but a pointless one- it was locked up tight and her weak body was no match for it. She'd also tried the window which was incredibly high on the wall, however, after shoving her bed beneath it and climbing up- she'd found that she was far too big for the tiny window. Ambrosia's head would not even fit through the space.

Ambrosia groaned as she forced herself to sit. It was a fate she had never anticipated, kidnapping by a group of evil nomads... Let alone being allowed to live long enough to grow bored of being a prisoner. And her brain kept floating back to Edward and what he could possibly be doing, she lived in hope that he was on his way to save her but the question remained- if he knew where she was or who took her, what was taking him so long?

Perhaps, Riley had been right all along, perhaps all the vampires were the same and he wasn't even looking for her but Ambrosia thought better of her Edward. Fred may have somewhat uncaringly left Bella Swan, but Edward would different... He would never do that to her, or at least, that was the hope she held on to even as days and nights passed her by in an aching haze. Ambrosia had expected to live her human life with Edward for at least a little while longer, she wanted to marry him... And now all of that seemed incredibly far from possibility.

Ears highly attuned to the environment by that time, Ambrosia was overly aware when the front door swung open. Though there was something different about it this time- it didn't bounce off of the wall in agitation as when Victoria or Riley entered. It was painfully timid, as if whoever was there- wasn't meant to be. Dragging herself to stand, Ambrosia shook the door again and maybe she seemed like a madwoman but if it was someone who would free her- she didn't care.

"Hello? Is somebody there?" she called, defying her personality completely. Ambrosia couldn't afford to be shy and timid anymore- All she could do was be strong and hope that one day, an impenetrable oak door wouldn't stand between her and freedom any longer.

"Hello?" a voice responded and Ambrosia's heartfelt agonisingly as though it would shatter at the sped it flew. It wasn't a familiar voice- but it was a new one. The voice was distinctly female, a low and pretty voice that Ambrosia knew could only belong to a vampire. The shyness of it gave her hope, hope that the person may be like her in some way.

"Hello? Can you hear me, please? I am in here."

"I-I... I can't let you out. Victoria will kill me." the voice cracked and Ambrosia whimpered at the thought, forehead pressing to the oak as she heard the last thing she wanted to hear- all her false hope came crashing down around her in an instant like a tidal wave and she sighed.

"Who are you?" Ambrosia tried... The voice sounded young, younger than herself at least but Ambrosia knew something about being shy and she knew that the voice may only be timid through disposition and not due to age. "I'm-I'm Ambrosia"

"I know" the new voice returned and it was clear that whoever it was, she was now close to the other side of the door. Her voice had grown louder and her footsteps had stopped. "My name is Bree."

"H-Hello Bree, It's nice to meet you... I" she frowned, thinking carefully of what she could possibly say to ensure her survival. "Bree... You must be here for a reason?"

"I was sent here" her voice breathed in a hushed whisper. "I was sent to speak to you but, Ambrosia, you cannot tell anyone that I came to you. I will be in so much trouble" she squeaked in fear and the human girl instantly knew that Bree was a good person- she was scared but good regardless and that was more than Ambrosia could have asked for as she listened carefully to whatever Bree had to say.

"I won't tell anyone, Bree."

"Laurent sent me" it was the last thing she expected to hear. She half- expected the Cullens to have sent her, anyone really... But not Laurent. She supposed, he had been kind to them the last time they'd met but Laurent also hadn't been prepared to defy Victoria at that time... Was he ready now?
