"Ambrosia?" Esme called calmly as she strolled the many aisles of the bookstore, the medical book she had purchased for Carlisle tucked calmly beneath her arm, wrapped neatly by the store assistant and now she was in search of her new daughter. In the limited time that Esme had know Ambrosia- she had come to learn of the girl's immense love for books and it was without a seconds contemplation that Esme found herself in the fiction section.

It didn't take long for Esme to discover that she wasn't there, the absence of her familiar heartbeat should have been enough of an indicator and when Esme turned a corner, concern slowly growing- she froze. Laying somewhat innocently on the floor, against the dark blue carpet was a lilac coloured scrunchie, dotted with little flowers and she distinctly recalled it having been around Ambrosia's wrist as they entered the store. Ambrosia wasn't careless enough to allow it to fall on its own accord. And the prospect that she had purposely left it there induced fear in the mother as she drew it into her pale hands.

Esme forced herself to remain calm though her pace had quickened as she bustled through the crowd, following the small trail Ambrosia's scent had left behind. Said scent was vanishing by the second, trodden across and cut off by new smells, from other people. Esme was no tracker and as she halted in the centre of the bustling shopping mall, completely lost, her hand involuntarily clenched over her mouth. She felt nauseated - something that was in fact physically impossible for a vampire... And it was all because she had lost her own child.

"Esme?" the sound of Rosalie's voice cracked through Esme's clear and persistent terror somewhat and she whipped around to her blond daughter at an alarming speed, though the humans were far too interested in their own activities to notice it.

"What's wrong? Where's Rosia?" she frowned, eyes scanning over her mothers face as she shifted all the bags into her left hand. It was obvious that Esme wasn't okay.

"I can't find her, one minute she was there and I- I went to get this book wrapped up for Carlisle and then- then I couldn't find her. I don't know where she is Rosalie! She left this on the floor" she panicked, handing the scrunchie to the other vampire whose own terror was slowly growing. "B-But there's... Rose... i-I think ... It smells like there was a vampire with her?" Esme was uncertain but terrified and it was completely out of instinct that Rosalie drew her into a tight hug, refusing to release her for even a single second as they stood in panicked contemplation.

"You go and find Alice, she should be around here somewhere, I will keep looking for her, okay? It's okay, we'll find her." Rosalie reasoned though her own voice shuddered with uncertainty until they broke into action once more, racing off in different directions.

It wasn't long before something became abundantly clear to them all- Ambrosia had been taken by an unfamiliar vampire... The realisation wasn't much help and they all panicked from fear as Alice did the impossible... The seer had to phone Edward and tell him that they had collectively allowed Ambrosia to slip through the cracks.

Over the past week and a half, the family had been at their happiest- of course, the absence of Bella put a damper on things and moving was always slightly bittersweet but everything felt complete, it all felt as though it was all falling easily into place and now... Now everything shattered in a second like a faulty mirror and they were all terrified for the future that Alice couldn't seem to decipher, even as Edward yelled at her in a panic.

It was painful that day, for the family to return home from their shopping trip without one of their members. It didn't matter that Ambrosia was a human or that she hadn't been with them for very long- She was their family and even Fredrick- shockingly- seemed to be pulling his hair out in a bid to find her. She was Edwards mate after all. Nobody had ever seen Edward Cullen shatter into so many pieces as he had when he had been told the agonising news.

All they could do was search painfully without leads and hope that the vampire wanted her for something. Because the second Ambrosia failed to be of use to this mystery vampire- she would be disposed of in the worst possible way. None of them could afford to lose her. Ambrosia was their sister, their daughter and his lover and they promised themselves the second her scrunchie had been found on the carpet that they would never stop searching until they found her.
