《✔️Ambrosia (Edward Cullen) BOOK ONE》34-"The Disaster"

The blood was so noticeable against Bella's beautiful porcelain skin and for a moment, Ambrosia saw no harm in the small hiccup, watching as the bead rolled smoothly down the girl's finger, somewhat innocently. But Ambrosia didn't necessarily need to be alert, because she had a vampire on her side that would protect her to her dying day. It was Edwards protective arms that broke her from her peaceful pause. Edward had her against his chest smoothly, whipping her around effortlessly to face away from the upcoming disaster just in time as Fred whipped a protective arm outwards, sending Bella flying across the room and into the table- Making Ambrosia gasp in shock and jump though the body of the mind reader hid from view the gruesome scene unfolding.

"Hey, hey" he coaxed, aware of the growling occurring behind him and he was more than a little hit defensive as his large arms shrouded her small body almost entirely in a protective shield. "It's okay" he promised, aware of the raging disaster that continued. Rosalie, in a protective form, pulled Ambrosia further away from the danger, holding her at her side and as Edward whipped around to catch a pouncing Jasper, Ambrosia finally got a look at the scene before her and her confusion cleared.

The warm gold eyes that she knew so well were all gone now and the friendly family in the room had instantly become deadly.

"Jaz, Jaz, shh" Alice attempted, holding her hands to his face calmingly as Edward tensed, holding Jasper back with more strength as an expression of thunder rolled along Fredricks face. "It's just a little- blood" it was the vampires one weakness and Ambrosia knew, from the moment she saw Freds face fall, that things were about to change.

"Get Jasper out of here" Carlisle persisted, voice remaining as calm as he possibly could, despite the situation as he flashed to Bella's side. The simple papercut had been turned into something much worse and Ambrosia watched the blood fall with a shocked expression similar to Bella's. Neither human's minds were quite fast enough to keep up with the speed of how the atmosphere had changed but Rosalie's gentle touch calmed Ambrosia whose heart was pumping in shock. "I'll have to stitch this up in my office" Carlisle sighed and those around the room started to evacuate, eyes dark.

Ambrosia, seeing the darkness in Edward's eyes, went to him instantly and he pulled her close, breathing in with his eyes closed tight and his nose buried in her hair. As the sweet scent of his soulmate washed over him, the gold returned in a pool to Edward's eyes and he breathed easily, shifting Ambrosia's warm body to guide her from the room and up the stairs. The human said nothing as she was brought softly into his bedroom where she had spent many nights.

The room was dark, the sparkling of stars across the night sky vanishing as the lamp switched on and instead, Ambrosia was greeted with the sight of the room reflected back at her. It was just as she had left it, utterly pristine despite being lived in. The bedding was drawn tightly upwards, not a wrinkle in sight and she felt almost bad ruining that, if not for the way Edward pushed her down lightly to sit there. The brunette did nothing but stare as he made his way across the room, sitting at his desk with a sigh, running his hand over his face.

She knew better than to question him at that moment, she knew better than to say a word because she could clearly see how confused and conflicted he was- Even if she couldn't understand it herself. Ambrosia's heart tore in two merely at the sight of that expression on his handsome face and for the very first time- she wished that she was the mind reader.

All Ambrosia Hatton wanted then was to lie in bed with him and hear him read a book from his vast collection to her in his perfect voice. Ambrosia could read perfectly well but there was something so calming about having someone read to you, especially the voice of the person she loved most. Ambrosia didn't have particularly good luck in life but Edward made her feel like she did. As she sat there and fiddled with her necklace awkwardly, she didn't know what she could possibly say to understand what had happened.

When Edward stood suddenly, she jumped, looking up at him for answers though she did not get any as he made his way around his room, collecting things. It was only a moment later that he dropped a pile of clothes on the end of the bed- one of his t-shirts (that he rarely ever wore, always preferring shirts) and some joggers with strings to tighten them.

"I need to go and check on everyone... Get some rest" he informed, his voice hollow and she blinked at him in shock, wanting nothing more than to look into the eyes she knew so well and understand, but for the first time ever- Edward refused to meet her gaze and it made her chest feel tight as he swept from the room as easily as he had entered it. As the door shut softly, Ambrosia felt frozen.
