Ambrosia Emerald Hatton had a heart that hammered like a steam train in her chest as they entered the crowd of people, her relatively short and modest dress stood out among the long ballgowns worn by her classmates but as she cuddled into Edwards side- she felt much better. It didn't take them long to locate Bella and Freddie and Ambrosia felt much better at seeing Bella's uncomfortable expression.

"Amby" Bella greeted with a sigh of relief and the shorter of the two smiled back shyly, cheeks a constant red at that point as she felt eyes upon her. It only made her clutch ahold of Edward's hand as if it was a lifeline. "You look so beautiful"

"Thank you, Bella, you do too" she returned.

"Alice" Bella laughed as if answering an unasked question and Ambrosia nodded.

"How are you feeling?"

"Much better thanks" she quipped and Ambrosia nodded, content that the small talk was over and she could acceptably stand and say nothing for a long moment, without being judged for being rude.

"No way!" A voice squealed loudly and Ambrosia visibly tensed as she awkwardly spun in a circle, dragging Edward around with her. The mind reader chuckled at the sight before them but Ambrosia blushed. Teddy, Pheobe, Max and Rosalind were stood of identical looks of shock at the sight of their adoptive sister. "Tell me I'm hallucinating, Ted. Is that our Amby? At a dance!" Pheobe exaggerated.

"I think it bloody is babes" Teddy returned, winking darkly at Ambrosia who smiled shyly.

"Dance! You must dance with me" Max declared, walking forward and pulling Ambrosia's arm through the loop of his own before she even had the chance to refuse. Edward wasn't much help in her escape, letting her go easily and she pouted at him as he laughed. The dancefloor was unreasonably empty which was good for the girl who didn't like attention. "I can't believe you're here Bambi, but I am happy about it."

"Turns out, Alice is even more demanding than Pheobe" Ambrosia grinned, knowing full well that Alice could probably hear them.

"Well, I am glad, regardless... Rosia, we need to talk" he hummed as they danced in slow circles, not really listening to the music.

"Talk? Why would we need to talk?" she frowned.

"We will be seniors soon Ambrosia, and you know the rules. We have to be gone after Graduation. Have you thought about where you're going?" Max questioned and she sighed, thinking about it. Usually, they would all go off to college after graduation and it wouldn't be much of an issue.

"No.. I-I haven't, not really" she coughed awkwardly.

"Well, Ted and I are getting a place together. It won't be very special but we have some money from our parents and Ted might be a raging asshole most of the time but he's still family, you know? And so are you Rosia. Roz is off to college, her grandma is paying for it and Pheobe is thinking about moving in with us... You can too Rosia." he implored carefully and she looked down at the expensive yellow shoes on her feet, she would never be able to afford them on her own.

"I don't have anything to give you, Maxie. My parents... They weren't like yours, they didn't leave me anything, I don't-- There isn't" she stressed and sighed, closing her eyes, imploring him to pull her closer comfortingly.

"Listen, Ro, you are our sister, and I like to consider that what I have is yours too, okay? I didn't earn the money that I was left, I was given it. And I want to share it. We can't leave you out on the streets, now, can we?" he teased and she giggled quietly. "What were you going to do when you age-out?"

"I don't know, Max... I' ve-- I've been talking to Miss Everett about permanency" she continued, her voice lower because she didn't want anyone to hear her.

"What? Ambrosia, no you can't stay there. You know the crazy hours they'll have you on, besides, you need to get out of that hell hole before it's too late" he informed her calmly, knowing what she was planning.

"There's nothing else I can do Max, I wasn't adopted. I made it almost thirteen years without adoption and now there's nothing I can do but stay there, work there and help the youngers get adopted," she informed him.

"What about Tabitha? She stayed on and look how good it did her, she ended up quitting and moving in with her boyfriend" Max demanded and Ambrosia laughed bitterly.

"Can we not talk about this right now, Max? Please, I just want to have a good time" she informed him with pleading eyes and he nodded softly, with a small smile.

"Well, you know that my offer will always stand there. You deserve more, Ro than working in the orphanage, okay? Just... Don't give up just yet."
