《✔️Ambrosia (Edward Cullen) BOOK ONE》28-"Be okay"

Ambrosia Hatton held onto Edward with all her strength, finding comfort in the silence of his body due to his lack of heartbeat and the comforting hand that stroked through her curls left her breathing softly, despite her anxiety. Bella had survived- they had made it in time... Barely. Ambrosia knew- seeing the damage done to Bella, that she should have been more afraid but she couldn't bring herself to be, instead, her fear came from a different place and she hated herself for being so ridiculous.
"We don't have to go if you don't want to" Edward coaxed calmly, always the first to give in to the beautiful brunette and give her whatever she desired. Alice, who was huffing and stamping her foot in the corner- was not so eager to give Ambrosia what she wanted. Ambrosia wanted a quiet night in with a takeaway and a movie- But Alice was demanding that they go and complete Ambrosia's worst fear- A high school dance.
"Edward!" Alice huffed like a child, arms folded tightly and lips pursed. "You are supposed to be on my side! If Bella is going, in her leg in a cast that Ambrosia is going."
"Alice" Edward warned but the clairvoyant wasn't afraid of the mind reader, besides she had already seen that it would happen. So, instead of giving in to what Ambrosia wanted- Alice merely pulled the girl straight out of her boyfriend's protective arms and up the long flight of stairs to the second floor of the Cullen residence where Alice was waiting to help the girl get ready for her very first school dance.
"Stop pouting, Rosia. It won't be as bad as you think, besides, we will all be there" the blonde coaxed as she pushed the girl to sit at the vanity chair. Emmett, lounging on their shared bed comfortably, merely nodded along though he didn't look up from his handheld games console, he was likely not even listening to the conversation at hand. "And your brothers and sisters will be there, it will be fun"

"What should we do with your hair, straighten it?" Alice questioned, assessing the curls with a curious golden gaze and Ambrosia instantly shook her head, reaching up to hold her curls close to her protectively.
"They don't look good straight, it makes me look like a wet dog" she declared calmly and Alice and Rosalie exchanged a glance before promptly giggling, much to Ambrosia's dismay- the brunette girl pouted.
"Well, let's tame them then" Alice huffed. "You have to look pretty for Edward."
"She's already Gorgeous" the mind readers voice quipped and Ambrosia whipped around, a grin on her lips at the sight of him. Edward leant casually in the doorway of Rosalie and Emmett's room, watching them with an intent gaze- until Alice threw a shoe at him. Worries about Esme's perfectly painted hallway, he grabbed it lazily.
"You get out! and you Emmett, off you go"
"Crazy lady" Emmett muttered under his bed as he leapt up, eyes never leaving him games console as he exited the room, Edward bregrudgingly following him down the hallway.
"Now" Rosalie smiled. "Let's get you feeling all pretty for the prom, it will make you feel better about going."
"Really?" Ambrosia's innocent doe eyes pled and Rosalie smiled reassuringly as she began to paint the girls face lightly, Alice messing around with her curls.
"Why haven't you ever been to any of the dances, Rosia?"
"Because I've never wanted to go. Roz always wanted me to go but I never felt like it" she giggled uncomfortably. "What do you even do at prom?"
"Mostly nothing, just sit there in silence, be bored. Dance a little. Edward likes dancing." the blonde informed her calmly and Ambrosia- who was completely against dancing, frowned to think about it for a moment. She wanted to make him happy and so vowed to dance with him at least once- when the dancefloor was busy so no one would be watching her. And that was the important thing about Edward to Ambrosia, he always managed to gently push her boundaries without ever even realising it. He accepted her and her quiet nature and she loved him for it.

"You look beautiful, Rosia" Alice beamed "If I do say so myself." Helping the girl to stand from the stool, Rosalie and Alice forced Ambrosia into a long-sleeved white lace dress that fell to mid-thigh and was modest for the girl. Ambrosia wasn't as lucky as Bella had been, and she was made to wear bright yellow heels upon her small feet though she found herself falling in love with them quickly. She could only be glad that Roz had taught her to walk in them.
"Final touch" Rose beamed and twirled a sunflower in her hand. Ambrosia frowned at it for a moment before her eyes lit up when the girl slid it into her carefully curled hair. The added happiness in Ambrosia's eyes only made her look more beautiful at that moment.
"Right, now go and find Edward and wait to go. I'm starting to get emotional" Alice teased and Ambrosia giggled but happily left the room- glad to be free after an immeasurable amount of time in that chair.
She soon found him in the main room of the Cullen house and she blushed instantly as the eyes around the room fell upon her. Esme grinned and practically skipped to her side, gushing over her and calling her a hundred words that all complimented her appearance and made Ambrosia grin.
"You look stunning" Edward informed her softly, taking her hand and she easily went to him, blushing at the sight of him in a suit. His eyes lit up at the sight of her and the other Cullens were shocked. They had never seen Edward look so happy. . .
