Rosalie Hale hissed the second she walked up the front steps of the Cullen mansion, tucking Ambrosia behind her as she spotted who had come to pay a visit. Ambrosia- on the other hand- froze with her eyes wide. The rain continued to hammer down around her but the plastic of her raincoat shielded her eyes and because of that, she could clearly see the man in the doorway. The very familiar man in the doorway whose brilliant ruby red eyes widened as they landed on her face for the first time in twelve years.

"Ambrosia" the word left his tongue so calmly as he assessed her and Rosalie's golden eyes filled with horror as she whipped around sharply, eyes pinning on the recognition that had befallen the humans face.

"L-Laurent?"

"Sweet Dear. What-- You're with them?" he couldn't help but be startled at the sight of her, of course, it was not entirely improbable that he should cross paths with her on their travels to Forks Washington. It was the town where they had met her for the very first time.

"You're... You're one of them?" Ambrosia couldn't help but step back as her heart ached in her chest. It was the kind of face you could never forget, even though she hadn't seen it since she was five. Perhaps that was why, until that very moment- she had almost forgotten all about him. Almost. Everything seemed to fall so easily into place with her now that she saw that face, even though time had blurred her memories somewhat.

"Amby Dear, please. Listen to me" he demanded, venturing down the steps, much to Rosalie's anger as she hunched protectively in front of the girl. Ambrosia- however- placed a calming hand on the vampire's shoulder.

"I'm listening, Laurent" her voice was the strongest it had ever been, the strongest the Cullens had ever heard it as they all congregated on the porch in evident confusion. Edward was by Ambrosia's side in a second, wrapping an arm protectively around her waist as he stared at the nomad in utter horror. "It was them... Wasn't it? Uncle James and Auntie Tori? They-- They were the ones that killed my parents?" she stuttered now, body aching. "I-- Since meeting the Cullens, it all seemed so familiar. Everything. And I couldn't help but think of them. Bodies drained of blood? Animals don't do that Laurent! It was them, wasn't it?"

"I'm so sorry Amby"

"Stop" she scoffed in anger and everyone was equally confused and disgusted.

"Can someone please explain what the hell is going on?" Emmett piped up, seeing anger in the humans usually calm and angelic green eyes.

"When I was younger, my parents had three best friends. I was so young, I didn't really question it. But then my parents died and their friends vanished. They killed them. James and Vicotria killed my parents Laurent! They trusted you, they saw good in you. How could you hurt people you claimed to be friends with?" she was horrified.

"Because Amby, James doesn't see humans as anything more than objects, means for our survival." the tanned man sighed sadly, wiping a hand over his face and she just tilted her head in horror, green eyes pooling with tears though, when they fell, they were merely mixed with the raindrops all around them.

"Then why the charade? I don't understand."

"It was all a game" Rosalie spat out angrily, seeing the pain in the humans face and wanting nothing more than to rip the nomad coven to shreds for putting it there. "Ambrosia, vampires love the hunt. It was all a game."

That was when a sob broke free from between her lips and she pressed a hand over her eyes, the hood of her raincoat falling over her head to hide her face in the shadow as she glanced down at the ground and broken cracks of sadness wracked through her body. After twelve years, she finally had the answers to the questions she'd always wondered. Edward held her impossibly closer to her, taking her face in his hands as sadness broke all along his features.

Every sob that shuddered through her was like a knife in the heart to him and she grabbed ahold of him as if he was her lifeline in the rain as they finally kicked Laurent off of their property. Ambrosia was shivering in Edward's arms, maybe from the cold but more likely from her tears as they stars blurred behind the rain clouds and the trees stretched high overhead in a canopy to catch the liquid the sky spat. Edward didn't lapse his grasp for even a second as he held her there, holding up her entire weight.

James, Victoria and Laurent were three people that Ambrosia's five-year-old brain chose to forget until they came steamrolling back into her life. And despite how agonising the truth was, she was glad to hear it. She finally had clarity.

In the Forks forest, twelve years previously, Victoria and James drained their human 'friends' dry and left their daughter for the orphanage. And it had all been a game, over three years, because when they finally got a taste of that blood. It had all been worth it. Time meant nothing to a vampire.

It just gave the Cullens more reasons to absolutely destroy the nomads and as Edward held her together, he assured himself that he would never allow that level of pain to cross her features again.
