《✔️Ambrosia (Edward Cullen) BOOK ONE》23 - "Rosie?"

"Rosia" Rosalind called gently over the heads of the sleeping children between them. The quieter of the two girls looked up at the closest person she had to a sister- and smiled. The red-haired girl and Ambrosia had spent the day helping out at the under-staffed orphanage, and the youngest children were now sleeping peacefully, faces like little angels. "You should phone Edward, I know you wanted to go and play baseball with them today."

"It's okay Roz, I'm not much of a baseball player anyway." she smiled gently but her mind did wander. Despite not having played the game herself, Ambrosia couldn't help but feel as though she was missing out, not being there while they all played. It was a feeling she was unaccustomed to and didn't appreciate. Slouching up the stairs rather tiredly, Ambrosia almost lept straight out of her skin when she saw the pale figure sat like a statue on her bed.

"Rosie?" the blonde girl whipped her golden eyes round to face her, as fast as lightning. There was certain darkness in her eyes now, one that Ambrosia had never seen from Rosalie. The vampire was scared, and that didn't help to calm Ambrosia's own building nerves. The blonde girl had the door shut and a duffle bag open on the bed in seconds, throwing clothes within it continuously as the rain continued to hammer on outside the window. "Rose? What's happening?" she panicked now.

"We have you get you out of here Ambrosia, now. We have to get you somewhere safe."

"What are you talking about? Go where? What's happening?"

"I don't have time to explain Rosia! I need you to go and come up with some excuse to stay the weekend at our house, then come up here and get your bag. I'll be waiting outside in my car. Be quick Ambrosia. We don't have time." the panicked voice of Rosalie struck fear in Ambrosia, fear because she was being left in the dark. But shoving her shoes onto her feet and her plastic raincoat onto her body, she practically tumbled down the stairs in search of Miss Everett. It was in the kitchen where she found the elderly lady smiling softly at her, curiously.

"Hi" she smiled awkwardly and the lady chuckled, giving her her full undivided attention for the first time since she entered the large room.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing. Nothing is wrong. I'm just going to go and stay at Edwards for a few days... Is that okay?"

"Of course it's okay dear. I am so happy to see you making friends darling. I've never seen you so happy, it's good to see you getting out of this place a bit more often." the woman patted her cheek lightly with one rough hand before turning back to her paperwork. And that was it, it was truly that simple. Because the orphanage wasn't home to them, the workers weren't parents. They were merely living there. The workers never cared what they did, as long as it wasn't unsafe or illegal.

"Brilliant. Thank you. Call me if you need anything" Ambrosia beamed happily though a bundle of nerves still danced around in her chest at the thought of what could possibly be happening with the Cullens. Not ten minutes later, Ambrosia had her bag tightly over her shoulder, entering the pouring sheet of rain that hammered on around them, the lighting was sparse, the headlights of Rosalie's car and the singular streetlight being the only thing to stop her from stumbling along the damp, uneven pavement.

"Get in Rosia" Rosalie called calmly and the girl listened, tossing her bag behind her through the gap between the seats as she nestled into the warm fabric of Rosalie's car. "Seatbelt" the blonde vampire reminded and Ambrosia fumbled for a moment, lost in her own thoughts as she listened to the vampire who she had grown steadily closer to in the past few weeks.

"What's happening Rosalie?" Ambrosia finally questioned again, voice gentle, as if it could possibly calm the fearful vampire. The orphan girl knew, that if an immortal vampire was scared, she should be too. Rosalie sighed as she glanced across at the curly-haired female, her hair only having grown rowdier in the rain and panic.

"Bella's happening" the blonde demanded angrily, still looking beautiful despite the rain that soaked her blonde hair and painted it a darker shade.

"I-I don't understand."

"We were at the baseball game and some nomads came, they were just leaving but our game caught their attention. And one of them- A tracker, he noticed Bella. He smelt her and her stupidly attracting scent. Trust Fredrick to get with a human with mouthwatering blood" she cursed, her voice mostly monotone but Ambrosia's panic was growing with each word she told her.

"And?" the brunette had to prompt when Rosalie trailed off.

"And he's a tracker Rosia! He's a tracker who wants Bella, he wants to kill her and he will track her far and wide to do so. They're getting her out of here, taking her somewhere he can't get to her. But I am taking you to Edward, it's not safe for you now. The tracker could trace our scent to you, all became of Bella!"

"It's not her fault Rosie, she can't help what she smells like" Ambrosia frowned cutely in confusion and it calmed Rosalie somewhat as they went speeding through the rain. Ambrosia knew, as she stared out the window at the hammering rain, that she should be scared but the thought of Edward waiting for her only calmed her instantly. She knew she was safe with him.
