《✔️Ambrosia (Edward Cullen) BOOK ONE》9 -"Isabella"

Ambrosia breathed in deeply, taking in the beautiful scent of Edward as she relaxed in the passenger seat in front of Forks High School, it was a particularly drizzly Wednesday lunchtime and rather than suffering from the large number of people in the cafeteria, the two of them resigned to sitting in his car. Over the past few days, they had spoken a lot more and she felt genuinely comfortable with him, which was something she had never expected to find.
"Have you had a good day so far?" his voice was low, sounding like honey and her eyes peeled open, side eying him with a gentle smile tugging at her lips, sparkling white teeth peeking through.
"I have" she turned to face him, pulling the pristine copy of The Great Gatsby from her bag, handing it across to him. Edward frowned in return to her gesture, not putting his hand out to take it as one would expect. "I've finished it" she informed, turning to face him and he rose his perfect eyebrows at her, still not taking it, hands laying absentmindedly on the steering wheel.
"Keep it" her eyes widened in clear and apparent shock.
"I can't do that, it's a first edition Edward" she informed, not even aware of how much she had changed since knowing him, unaware of stepping out of her comfort zone.
"I know, and I want you to have it. Nobody else will get as much joy from it as you" he stated, his eyes sincere as he leant toward her slightly, holding her hand that held the book with his usual crooked smile that she couldn't seem to ignore. She jolted slightly at the cool of his hand before that shock twisted and she marvelled in the soft texture of him. "Besides, you don't have time to argue now, we have lessons to get to" he smirked and without thinking, acting completely against her usual shy judgement, Ambrosia threw her arms around his neck in a tight hug and he chuckled in shock before returning it, her soft curls brushing against his sensitive hand, her violet and vanilla fragrance washing over him.

"Thank you Edward" she was overjoyed and he could hear from her voice, just how much that simple gesture had meant to her.
"You're so very welcome Ambrosia. Now let's get to lesson before we're late" he chuckled beautifully and they exited the car together, leaving to return to their lessons. Ambrosia's blue bug had sadly wheezed its last breath and Edward had agreed to take her to school as often as she needed, at least until she got a new car. Unfortunately for Ambrosia, her bank account wasn't allowing for a new car, not that she would tell him that.
Ambrosia arrived at her lesson just in the nick of time and awkwardly slouched into her seat, surprised to find somebody sat beside her at her usually vacant table, Rosalind, who sat in front of her was chatting happily to this new person. She was short, though taller than Ambrosia, her hair darker and skin beautiful clear porcelain. This was the famed Isabella, the new girl that people just couldn't stop talking about.
"Oh Isabella, this is my sister, for all intents and purposes, Ambrosia Hatton." Roz beamed, directing Isabella to look at the shy girl who would rather not have eyes upon her. "Trust me when I tell you, she is a brilliant secret keeper" she informed, as though introducing her onto a game show.
"Hi, Bella" the new girl introduced, holding her hand out and the honey-haired girl returned the gesture, shaking softly.
"Ambrosia." she nodded. It seemed that they would be partners now. When the lesson began, Roz turned back around and Ambrosia smiled shyly at Bella but otherwise paid full attention. It was only half an hour later when they were set to doing a partner assignment, did Ambrosia have to step out of her comfort zone once more. "What's your favourite book?" she wondered, they had to create a mood board of character profiles from their chosen book. It was an attempt to grasp an understanding of character passion and motivations for actions.

"Wuthering Heights... Why?" Bella wondered, seeming to be quite disturbed by the sudden question.
"Then that is the novel we shall focus on" Ambrosia smiled in victory, glad that they could work it out so quickly.
"Did you want to do half the characters each? And then bring it together at some point?" Bella questioned.
"Sounds perfect." Ambrosia preferred it that way, where she could just work on her own as much as possible. It didn't matter how comfortable she was with Edward, she still refused to open herself up in everyday life. Bella wasn't that close yet.
"Perfect" Isabella repeated before falling silent, neither of them knew what to say for a long while before an idea sparked in the new girl as she decided to question her desk partner. "You know the Cullens?" Ambrosia frowned, not knowing where the discussion had come from.
"I know Edward" she rephrased.
"Do you know much about Fredrick Cullen?"
"Freddie? Not really, he doesn't often say much. I get the impression he doesn't like school very much" she thought back to how uninviting he had been at their very first meeting in the parking lot, since then Ambrosia had gotten closer with Alice, Emmett and Rosalie but not so much with Fred, he hadn't spoken to her yet.
"So he's always in a bad mood?" she sounded relieved and Ambrosia couldn't work out why.
"I don't know really, is everything okay Bella?"
"Yeah, yeah of course" she composed herself and they fell back into a more comfortable silence. When the lesson ended, they walked beside one another and Roz to the parking lot, the ginger girl was babbling loudly, telling the new girl anything and everything about the little high school. It was only when they reached the carpark that Roz left, running off to chat with Angela and Jessica, leaving Ambrosia and Bella to be quite happy with the silence. Oddly, Ambrosia couldn't help but feel that Bella would grow to be a good friend to her, they were both equally quiet but that was okay.
