Chapter Twenty-One
My central nervous system seemed to temporarily lock up on me like car brakes are known to do on occasion. The sound of the back door opening is what unlocked me.
I saw Angel. Joe saw Angel, and his eyes and face lit up like they use to do when he saw me.
"There's my girl," declared Joe, as he jumped up with the energy of a young man, and threw his arms around skin and bones.
All I could do was stand and watch this display of affection. I think my temporary paralysis was partially due to the doll-eyes glaring at me. The other part was because I was totally baffled.
My confusion was soon put on hold when Joe pulled back from her, and looked over at me.
"Fay, have you met Angel?"
I cleared my throat aloud, about to get the letters to a yes to topple off my lips, when Angel answered for me.
"Yes, we've met."
Joe was gently pulled around so his back was to me. I'm sure this maneuver was done so he wouldn't see the threatening look Angel was giving me.
"Listen, why don't you go on upstairs and get changed," Angel said. "Then you can tell me all about your trip."
I can't believe I actually stood there and said nothing while I watched Angel guide Joe out of the kitchen and head him in the direction of the stairs. But I did. I even remained rooted to my position in front of the sink when Angel returned and suggested I stop back at a later time--after Joe had time to rest up from his trip.
Fay Cunningham listened to every word uttered without one interruption. But when Angel finished with me, words were waiting to shoot from my mouth. "Just what is going on around here? And please don't test my intelligence by playing dumb."

"I don't play, Fay," I was told in one level breath. "Now I really must insist you leave."
The door was held for my exit. One I didn't want to make, but felt it best I did. Especially after what I had witnessed between her and Joe.
"Okay. You win this time. But I want you to remember, I will be back."
The door swished shut, nearly smacking me in the fanny as I crossed the threshold. I looked over my shoulder several times on my way to the car. I didn't see them, but I could feel her eyes on me. It was all I could do to resist the urge to wave my middle finger back at her before I ducked inside my car.
Steam best describes what I was feeling when I pulled away from Joe's property. I did lay on the horn this time when I drove off. At the stop sign, I banged my hands against the steering wheel a little too hard and gave out an ouch.
I think it was as I began rubbing my palms together to take away the stinging sensation that some of my anger began subsiding. As the anger left, the brain kicked a few things around. I never did get to tell Joe about Ethel. The other woman who put a glow in Joe when she walked within eye range. It may sound cruel, but telling Joe his long time housekeeper and companion had been murdered could just be the answer to breaking whatever spell Angel Adams had put him under.
Rest time's up, Joe. Fay Cunningham's about to pay you another visit.

I was Summoned as a Hero, but I Became the Demon Lord Instead
"Ah, how I wish I could be summoned to another world." I’d always thought of such a naive wish of escapism would never be granted. However, shit happened and I was somehow summoned. However, in some strange twist of fate, I was no longer needed and disposed of, but that’s okay because I didn’t want to be a summoned hero to begin with. My new beginning may have been abruptly cut short, but even so, that is fine. There is a path I’m much more interested in. Mwuhahaha! Cough cough cough. Though, my sinister laugh may still need some practice. I was Summoned as a Hero , but I Became the Demon Lord Instead Volume 1 Word Count: 108K Including Volume Exclusive Content Available on Amazon Edit: If you don’t get the timeline that’s because the rate at which time flows in different worlds are not equal. In addition, timelines do not neccesarily run parallel to each other, they may cascade such that when summoned to another world you may get summoned from a different reference frame in the timeline of another world’s with respect to your own. Scientific constants can change from one plane to the next. The natural laws that govern each world is not necessarily the same across them all. Some may display similarities, while others may be the complete opposite where rather than aging forwards you actually age in reverse. Newborns could be born elderly and withered, but when they are born into the world, their body regresses towards death in reverse.

Reborn Into My Novel
What if you lived in the world of your own creation? As fate would have it, our dear amateur novelist, Ellie, was reborn into the world of her fantasy novel after falling asleep at her computer. Bewildered as she was, the first person that she met was the protagonist of her novel. To add salt to the wound, it was right before the tragedy that decimated his village as per his backstory. Will Ellie save the village (and herself) to risk changing the fundamentals of her novel? Will she instead let the story run its course and leave everyone in the village to their deaths? Disclaimer: This novel is a work in progress and will be updated hopefully at least once a week. Expect minor mistakes (maybe some typos and punctuation errors) since this is the very first draft. The author suffers from perfectionism and impostor syndrome and therefore attempts to use this as sort of a therapy to break away from perfectionism and self doubt. Basically, the author employs a “I don’t care anymore and screw this trash work” mindset just to get stuff rolling and not set any expectations. Basically, basically, the author just wants to write something and not care about planning and quality and all those nice things about writing a GOOD novel since it’s counterproductive. Kthxbye. ps: Thanks for even reading this trash work pps: You’re not trash for reading this trash work btw ppps: Thanks I love y’all so much Shout out! ‘If you can survive the trials of treading a million nails, would you still go? If you are willing to encounter death at every step, dreading the next, are you still willing to enter? If you leave and experience the trials further still, would you do so? If you find yourself being pursued by everyone and everything, chasing you down to the edge of the cliff, would you jump to certain death or fight back and be labeled as a monster? You can choose whether or not you want to change your life right at this doorstep. If you do say no, then nothing will happen to you. If you say yes, then your life will change. Succeeding will bring you great power. And if you fail, then you will be enslaved within Oblivion for eternity. What is your answer?’ Tus heard the ancient voice that sounded like sandpaper as he stared at the altar with the land and sky frozen in motion. The words repeated themselves over and over again, forcing him to answer without the chance of taking it back. Armed with a borrowed sword and cheap armor that looked like wood, he said aloud without hesitation, “Yes!” The altar hummed, a green light flickered in the surroundings, and Tus ceased to exist.
