《Cupid's Arrow ✔》Chapter 4

"W-what?" I said and turned around to see Chase standing there in a black t-shirt and football boxers.
He chuckled. "What are you doing here?" What am I doing here? Oh yeah his mother sent me up here to 'start friendship' with him, according to her.
"Your mom sent me here." I said without looking at him. He leaned at the door frame next to him. "I heard you are going to Valleywood."
"Yes, I am. Why?" He asked. I opened my mouth to reply but he cut me off. "Wait, are you also in the same school?" Again before I could speak, he cut me off. "Of course, you are. How can you stay away me? No one can stay away from me."
Cocky much?
I don't understand what he thinks of himself. How can a person be so cocky?
"First of all, your mother told me about it. Yes, I am in the same school. And secondly, I rather be home schooled than be with you." I answered him, rolling my eyes.
I made a move to leave the room, but he blocked my way and stood in front of me. He looked in my eyes and said, "No, you wouldn't be home schooled even though I am there." He took a step forward, bringing his face closer to mine and whispered, "If you wanted to stay away from me, you would have because you already know me and I haven't changed a bit." His lips brushed against my ears, "I know you love me, sunshine."
He smirked and went out of his room, leaving me alone all confused and surprised.
Did he really say that?
I went downstairs to find my mother and Stacie, laughing. I said my goodbyes and went to call Ashley. I called her, but she didn't pick her phone, so I left a voicemail to tell her to call me back.
Today's day was not good, but not bad either. I really don't understand Chase. Why would he say that if I wanted to leave I would have? Are things going to change? Will I be able to accept the fact that he knows Emma and can tell anyone about it? I have to make sure he doesn't tell anyone about her. I will have to keep my distance from him. But the question is, Will I be able to?
That being my last thought I went to sleep. I have to figure out all of these things. But for now, I have to face Chase tomorrow. It's going to be Chase Mason's first day.
**
Next morning went as it always goes. Now, I am standing in front of my school, explaining Ashley about all that happened yesterday at Chase's house. She stood there with her jaws on the floor.
"Are you telling me he joined our school today?" I looked at her as if she was crazy.
"Did you listen to what I said?" I asked her. This is what she paid attention to. "He knows her, Ashley. No one, I mean, no one knows about her, but you and me. What if-what if he said or asked anything about her. What am I going-" I started rambling. I'm really scared now. How can my life change from just going to the mall, to people knowing my secret?
"Hey, listen Chloe. Listen to me very carefully. No matter what, I'm going to be with you. No one will know about her I promise, okay? Just relax." She said with a serious voice. And I believe her. She won't let anyone mess with me.

I took a deep breath and told myself to relax. I smiled at her. She returned it with a huge grin. She linked her arm with me and we went to the school together.
"So, tell me. Is he hot?" She asked. Oh God, not again. Now, I understand why Mom and Ashley have each other as a better company. Sometimes when Ashley comes home, she completely ignores me and starts gossiping with my Mom.
"Not again, Ash." I said with a groan. She just chuckled as we walked to my locker. There we saw Laura and Leah already waiting for us.
"Did you hear we have a new student?" Laura asked. With her tone, it seems that she is least bothered about it.
"Yeah, we did. I want to know who he is." Leah said. I hope she doesn't swoop over him like all the girls are going to. I can bet that with my life.
"Yeah I guess." Laura replied. I opened my locker and took out my math book as it was my first period. I like math because I am good at it. But physics, don't even get me started. I really don't understand a single thing. I always get a C in it.
While I continued to remove and keep my books, in and out, we heard a loud squeal, giggling and high pitch voices. Chase must have just entered the school.
Across from my locker, I saw Jeff standing there. But when I looked at Ashley, she was completely ignoring his presence. No later than five minute, Chase entered the school. Like I said, all the girls were swooning over him. But I was shocked when Ashley didn't react like I expected her to, Laura look like she wanted to be anywhere but here. And Leah expression shocked me to core. She was happy?
At that exact moment, Chase turned and looked at us. He gave me a smirk to which I ignored. He looked at Leah and grinned. He made his way over to us and hugged Leah. She smiled.
"Chase, what the hell are you doing here? Why didn't you tell me you were going to come? Are you the new student people started talking about?" She bombards him with questions. He laughed.
"Well, it wasn't planned. Dad suddenly said we have to come here. I didn't have a problem and nor did Brenna, so we shifted on Saturday." He casually said while I stood there not understanding what was happening. When I saw the other girls, they have the same expression of confusion as I did.
"Oh! Well, that's good." At this Laura cleared her throat. It's then they remembered that we were also there. Chase looked at me and raised an eyebrow. I just shrugged.
"Oh, sorry. I'll introduce you. Guys, this is Chase, my cousin. Chase this is Ashley." She said as she pointed at Ashley. "Laura and Chl-" he cut her off.
"Chloe, I know." He said looking at me with his all time smirk. I just rolled my eyes at him.
"You guys know each other?" Leah asked, looking confused.
"Yes, she is my neighbour," he replied. Leah looked at me and raised her eyebrow. Ashley had a knowing smirk matching Laura's. Come on, get over it guys, I said to myself.
"Unfortunately." I said.
"Well, it's nice to meet you." He said, giving them a charming smile. I swear all the girls around squealed. Really people? Move on with your life.

"Wish I could say the same thing." I mumbled to myself.
"Said something, sweetheart?" He asked. I know he heard me.
"No, nothing at all." I smiled sweetly at him.
"Where is Emma? I really want to talk to her?" I froze. Ashley beside me tensed.
My eyes widened and my fist clenched to my side. I swallowed hard. Ashley was struggling to answer something, but I know she wouldn't be able to. She looked at me with a panic look. I didn't look at her just stared at Chase. The look he gave me, I know he understood something is wrong.
"Emma?" Laura and Leah said together. "Who is she?" Leah asked looking at me, Ashley and Chase. It looked like time just froze.
My eyes started watering. I have to get out of here before I....
"No one." Ashley said, quickly. She must have snapped out of her panic. She grabbed my wrist and pulled me away from them. We left them all confused but I couldn't think of it now. All I remembered was Emma.
Her blonde hair like Ashley, but they had blue sticks covering it. All rebel, it kind of suited her. She was beautiful. A lot beautiful than me. Her laugh was the best voice I had heard in my entire life. I love her with everything in me. She was just the best person.
Why?
I didn't know when we reached the girls' bathroom.
"Get out, all of you," Ashley shouted. If we weren't in this situation, I would have laughed. As fast as they could, all the girls hurried out of the bathroom.
Ashley locked the door behind her and looked at me. "I never thought he would ask."
"What sh-should I d-do?" My voice broke. I was almost on the verge of breakdown.
"Don't worry. Talk to him. Tell him not to bring her up." She advised. I sighed. I guess I don't have any other option. I have to confront him. At lunch, I'll talk to him but for now, I have to ignore him.
I cleared my throat, "I guess you're right. I don't have any other option."
After a prep talk from Ashley, we went to our separate class. I went to my math class and luckily I was right on time. Well, atleast I won't get detention. But I want to experience detention once.
I went to my seat where I usually sit. Math teacher, Mr. Locks came in and without wasting any time, he started teaching.
"Psst, psst."
I heard a sound from behind me, but I ignored it.
"Hey, Chloe, listen," Aoron called. He is one of the jocks, but a decent one from the rest of them.
I turned around, "What?" I snapped.
"Jeez, I just wanted to ask you if you want to be my partner for the project." He said.
Project? I guess I was too in my thoughts that I didn't pay attention to what the teacher was talking. Screw you, Chase Mason.
"Sorry, was just thinking. But yeah sure we can do the project together." I smiled. I can't just snap at anyone because of a specific person.
"Well, that's great. We'll decide at whose place to work and what to do, deal?" He asked, grinning.
"Yeah sure but what is there to work in math? How are we supposed to do a project for math?" I asked, raising both my eyebrow. Don't get me wrong, I like math but what can you do for a project.
"We have to think, but being with you I know we'll figure something." He said.
"Yeah yeah, I'm the only nerd here." Sarcasm was only thing that I could use now. I like to organize stuff properly, but nerd, I hate when people call me that.
He laughed. After a few minutes, the bell rang. I walked out of the class just as Aoron came from behind me, almost scaring me in process.
"Jeez, for a second you scared me." I said, placing my hand over my heart.
"Sorry. Just wanted to know when and where to start our project?" He asked.
"How about tomorrow at my place?" I asked, looking at him. We were walking to my locker.
"Yeah sure. See you later then." He dropped me by my locker and went to the opposite direction.
I opened my locker to keep my books that were not required when I felt someone tap my shoulder. I turned around just to come face to face with Megan and her followers. She is one of the popular, always trying to befriend Ashley so that she can be the most popular girl in school and also for prom queen which will be organized soon. We are 16 years, yet we have our own prom event.
I, for once don't like Megan. I guess the feeling is mutual for both of us. The way she looks at me with disgust, I know she thinks how I am best friend with Ashley. But Ashley is nothing like her. Megan's just plain rude and jealous.
"Chloe, I want to tell you something very important. So listen here very carefully." She took a threatening step toward me as I took a step back and swallowed hard. "I want you to stay away from Chase. He is mine."
Is there a werewolf city or community nearby? Mine? Seriously, who even says that? I was not expecting her to say something like that. I will happily stay away from him. That's what the plan is from the beginning.
"So, if I see you around him, it won't be good." Is she crazy or something.
She turned around to go where ever she came from, only to meet Ashley's glare. She smiled sweetly at her, ignoring her glare and went away with her puppets. My eyes followed the crowd to see Chase looking my way with so much intensity that I had to look away. Afraid that he would see right through me. I turned to Ashley as she was giving me a questioning look asking 'what the hell did she want'. I sighed.
"She just wanted me to stay away from Chase. I will happily do that." She looked at me with uncertain as if not knowing if she should believe it. I didn't explain any further. Closing my locker we went to history class which we share together. There was one thing on my mind.
Why will Megan think I am a threat to her? If she wants to be with Chase, she can!
I hate him and I think he hates me too, so why would she say that? Why was Chase looking at me that way? He can get any girl he wants, can't he?
