"Eomma, when I grow up I will marry Maya and we'll live happily ever after".

These are the words of seven years old Taehyung and even though the young Alpha was still a kid and didn't really understand the meaning of his words, his heart bore those intentions and his words lingered in his mind.

Maya was still a baby, barely six months old when Taehyung said those words to his mother as he stared into the eyes of the beautiful baby girl. He was amazed at how such a delicate and sweet creature could exist in this world. He was a kid but he knew what beauty looked like and it was Maya, the little baby who's the daughter of his mother's friend.

Maya's mum was a housewife like Taehyung's mum so she'd always come over to spend time with Taehyung's mum but sometimes they'd go over to Maya's place instead. The seven years old alpha always looked forward to seeing the little baby that looked like a doll.

On Maya's first birthday, Taehyung packed every single toy he had and put them in a big box just to gift them to Maya. If it was possible, he'd give her all the toys in the world.

As the years passed, fifteen years old Taehyung had forgotten when he ever said he'd marry Maya but his heart never forgot. Everything he did revolved around the eight years old girl who he has grown to love and adore. Everyone referred to him as Maya's older brother because he was overprotective of her.

No one dared to upset Maya or make her cry because the alpha would beat the daylight out of whoever it was.

Maya would present anytime within her eighth year and Taehyung was more than convinced she'd be an Omega. She was beyond beautiful in his eyes, she was gentle and soft and kind and all the good things he could think of. She'd definitely be an Omega and soon when they grew big enough, he'd be her Alpha and they'll live happily ever after.

The night before Maya's rank test, Taehyung suddenly became restless. He paced back and forth in his room thinking of how Maya would take that painful test. She'd definitely come out crying as most omegas did.

The test was indeed painful but kids who presented as alphas never cried. The betas may or may not cry but omegas definitely cried.

That day came and Maya walked out of the test room without a single tear. She was a strong Alpha and she had passed through every single test without flinching.

"Our Maya is a strong female alpha"

Her mother broke the news to Taehyung and his mum.

"Oh wow, she's an Alpha just like Taehyung. Hear that Tae, your pretty doll is an alpha too". Taehyung's mum said excitedly to her son.

The teenage Alpha just sat there and watched his pretty doll who was sitting between the two woman and staring at him with big eyes without saying a word. Then suddenly he stood up and stormed out of the room.

Maya felt sad, she thought her Tae Tae Oppa would be happy for her and praise her for presenting as an alpha but she was wrong because Taehyung didn't look happy about the whole thing.

"What's wrong with Oppa?" The girl asked Taehyung's mum.

". The woman advised.

Maya ran to Taehyung's door immediately and knocked for the Alpha to let her in. He'd never shut her out or refuse her anything but that day, he did.

Taehyung shouted with his alpha voice but it had no effect on the female because she too was an Alpha and her wolf didn't find alpha voices intimidating.

But it hurt her, it broke her heart when her Tae Tae Oppa raised his voice for the first time. She didn't even know what she did to deserve such treatment from him.

The truth was that, Taehyung didn't like the fact that Maya was an Alpha. Yes he wanted her to grow up to be a strong woman but it also meant they couldn't get married.

They were thought about these things in high school so he knew he had no chance with Maya because an Alpha-to-Alpha relationship would cause lots of fight for dominance as no Alpha enjoys submitting to the other. Mating between two Alphas would only produce a true blood alpha which would in turn take the life of the female alpha. In short, female alphas always die after birthing a true blood.

Even if Taehyung wanted to go ahead to be with Maya, their parents would never agree because they knew the implications and it would put Maya's life in danger.

From then on, Taehyung decided to keep his distance from Maya and try to be nothing more than a brother to her.

Was that even possible?
