《The Snake In My Dreams》Ch. 27

Janus had really thought today was going to be a normal day.
He in the living room, just minding his own buisness. Remus appeared, and he didn't think much of it.
He was certainly not expecting what happened next.
"Janus?"
Janus hummed, browsing the bookshelf for something to read.
"I'm in love with you."
Janus choked on his own saliva. He whipped his head towards Remus so fast, he was pretty sure he got whiplash.
"What?" He croaked out, staring wide eyed at Remus.
Remus was blushing furiously, an expression he had only seen when Remus got embarrassed (which wasn't often.)
He steeled himself, though his blush never dimmed.
"I'm in love with you." He repeated, looking Janus directly in the eyes. "That's why I ignored you a few months ago."
Janus blinked, too stunned to really process anything. "Oh."
"And I've been sabotaging your dates with Roman. Sorry about that, by the way."
"Oh."
"Also, Virgil knew I was in love with you. And that's why he showed up at your last date, because he knew I was going to sabotage it."
"Oh."
"Is that all you're going to say?"
"I'm processing." Janus mumbled.
Remus was in love with him.
Remus was in love with him?
REMUS WAS IN LOVE WITH HIM?!
Janus' entire face turned beat red. He had to stumble over to the couch, feeling faint.
"You--with me??" Janus pointed to Remus, then back at himself. "Why?"
"Why? What's not to like about you, Jan-Jan? You're witty, and you're charming, and you're sarcastic." Remus sat down next to Janus.
"I--wow. Wow." Janus took off his hat, using it to fan his face. "That's--wow."
"I know you're dating Roman." Remus began gently, taking Janus' hand. "But at least give me a chance."

"Slow down." Janus said. "I'm--oh my god, the dates! That was you?!" He asked.
"Oh--yeah."
"So they were right?! Goddamnit!" Janus scowled at himself. "And I got so mad too. I'll have to apologize."
"You're not mad?"
"It's very in character for you, now that I think about it." Janus huffed, running a hand through his hair. He cleared his throat. "How long have you...y'know?"
Remus shrugged. "I'm not sure. I only realized it when I began talking to you again."
Janus furrowed his brow. "Didn't Roman confess after that, though?"
"Funny story, actually. He confessed right when I was trying to confess to you!" Remus laughed awkwardly.
Janus' eyes widened, a look of shame crossing his face for a moment. "Did he know about your feelings?"
"He knew I liked someone. Maybe he assumed it was Logan or something." Remus mumbled. "Or maybe even the other guy."
"I can't just abandon Roman, Remus. He'll be--"
"I talked to him about this first, actually. He's the one who insisted I confess to you." Remus said. Janus shook his head, a fond smile tugging at his lips.
"That idiot." He rolled his eyes fondly. "Okay, sure. I'll, uh, give us a go."
"Really?"
"Yeah, sure. What do I have to lose?" Janus shrugged.
"And if you feel something, a real connection between us, you'll be willing to choose between Roman and I?" Remus asked.
Janus' eyes widened slightly. He never thought he would get into this situation. "Uh, yeah."
"I love you." Remus sighed dreamily.
Janus shot Remus an awkward smile.
---
Remus appears in the living room. Janus was stood in front of the book case, barely glancing at him when he made his entrance.

Oh my god, there he is. I'm actually doing this.
Remus took a deep breath to calm his nerves. Just calm down, no need to get worked up. You're only confessing your feelings to the love of your life.
Unsurprisingly, that did nothing to help his nerves.
Remus bent over, placing his hands on his knees. He needed to calm down. There was no use confessing if Janus wouldn't be able to understand him.
"Janus?" Remus asked. His voice wavered slightly, but Janus didn't seem to notice.
Janus hummed in response.
This is it! C'mon, spit it out!
"I'm in love with you."
The rest was a blur, Remus wasn't even fully aware of what he was saying.
"That idiot." He rolled his eyes in exasperation. "Okay, sure." Janus tilted his head slightly. "I'll , uh," He paused, searching for the right words. "Give us a go."
"Really?" Remus asked, feeling like he was dreaming.
"Yeah, sure." He gave Remus a gorgeous half-smile. "What do I have to lose?"
Oh my god, is this really happening?
"And if you feel something, a real connection between us, you'll be willing to choose between Roman and I?" Remus asked, staring deeply into Janus' eyes.
Janus' eyes widened slightly.
"Uh," He paused, considering it for a moment. His brow furrowed in thought, which Remus thought was absolutely adorable. "Yeah."
Remus couldn't help the smile that found its way onto his face. He had to tell him again.
"I love you."
Janus just smiled.
