《The Snake In My Dreams》Ch. 22

Remus sunk out, waiting two seconds, and appeared in the living room.
Janus was sat on the couch, his face in his hands. He hadn't noticed Remus yet.
"Hey Jan-Jan!" Remus chirped. Janus jumped, looking up at him.
"Oh, hey Ree." He gave Remus a weak smile.
"Is something wrong?" Remus asked, sitting down next to him.
Janus' composure immediately broke, and he fell into sobs. Remus frowned, wrapping his arms around Janus.
Remus smirked a little, but other than that gave no hints that he was enjoying this.
He rubbed Janus' back soothingly, letting him cry into his shoulder. They stayed like that for about ten minutes, before Janus finally pulled away.
"Sorry..." Janus murmured, wiping his eyes.
"Don't be." Remus shook his head. "What happened?" He asked, as if he didn't already know.
"Just..." Janus waved his hand around, either gesturing to the direction Roman went or the idea of what he wanted to say. "...relationship problems."
"Trouble in paradise, eh?" Remus hummed. He snapped his fingers, and bottle of wine appeared in his hands. "We'll be needing a lot of these."
---
"--and I don't know WHY he thinks it was you!" Janus slurred, taking another swig from the bottle.
Remus watched in mild amusement. Janus had downed about five bottles by now. Remus hadn't even gotten to touch one before Janus started chugging.
"Like--YOU WEREN'T EVEN THERE!" Janus exclaimed, throwing his hands in the air. "And you would never do that to me! Like--you and me? Bros. Bros. We're bros, right?"
"Right." Remus nodded, chuckling slightly.
"And--" Janus took another swig. "--who needs Roman, huh?!"
"Yeah!"
"In fact, I don't need anyone!" Janus took yet another swig. "Who needs relationships?!"

"No!" Remus yelled. Janus shot him a quizzical look. "I...mean...don't you think you're being a little too impulsive about this?"
"Maybe. I'm drunk." Janus pouted, bringing the bottle up to his lips. "But I'm just so PISSED OFF!" He screamed, throwing his hands in the air again. He grumbled something under his break and began chugging the rest of the bottle.
"So what are you going to do?" Remus asked. "Are you going to break up with him?"
That caused Janus to pause his chugging, glancing down at the floor. "I--" He frowned. "No."
"Why not?!" Remus yelled. Janus huffed, before taking a sip.
"I love him." Janus admitted, shaking his head. "And even though he's pissed me off, I can't bring myself to leave him."
Remus scowled. It seems like he had more work cut out for him.
"Why are we talking about Roman, anyways?" Janus finished the bottle off. He held out his hand. Remus rolled his eyes, and made him another one.
"Why indeed." Remus grumbled.
"Thanks for listening to me, Ree. You're a good friend." Janus took a long sip. "You get me."
"Of course, I understand you way more than Roman ever could." Remus told him.
What? Janus was drunk. He wouldn't remember this anyways.
"Yeah," Janus yawned, suddenly tired. He hiccuped, taking another gulp. "You're so good to me, Ree."
Janus leaned against Remus, blinking slowly. "Do you think I'm good enough for Roman?"
"What?" Remus asked, furrowing his brow.
"I mean--Roman is so...talented, charismatic, brave, and strong. And I'm just...me." Janus huffed, taking a swallow. "I just feel like he could do better."
"Janus..." Remus mumbled.
"I don't know what Roman sees in me. I'm a liar, for god's sake. I know I'm supposed to be Self-Preservation, but sometimes..." He sighed. "I dunno."

"I wish you could see yourself the way I see you." Remus hummed. Janus snorted, taking another sip.
"How do you see me, Remus?"
"I see the smartest, wittiest, most charming, side I know. You're perfect, Janus. Inside and out." Remus told him, smiling gently. "You're there for me whenever my thoughts become too much. You took me in when everyone else turned me away. You've been my number one fan since day one."
Janus looked up at Remus, eyes widening. "You really see me like that?"
"Of course I do." Remus rolled his eyes. "Because I love you."
"I love you too, Ree." Janus hummed, relaxing into Remus' side.
"No, Janus." Remus gulped. "I'm in love with you."
Janus stiffened. "...what?"
Remus turned Janus so he was facing him. "Janus Sanders, I'm in love with you."
And Remus crashed his lips onto Janus'.
Janus froze, before melting into it.
Was Remus taking advantage of a very drunk person? Yes.
Does he regret this decision? No.
Janus grabbed Remus by the soldiers, and pinned him onto the couch, their lips never separating.
Remus wrapped his hands around Janus' waist, pulling him closer.
They both pulled away, gasping for air.
"Remus," Janus slurred. "I don't wanna think about Roman right now. Make me forget about him."
"With pleasure." Remus smirked, unhooking Janus' capelet.
---
Janus woke up with a massive hangover. He groaned, bringing a hand up to his head.
He looked around, finding that he was in his room.
What the fuck had happened?
He looked down, and yelped when he realized he was completely nude.
His clothes were in a pile on the floor.
He looked around, and luckily found no one else in the room.
He released a breath, wondering what could have happened to make him end up like this.
The last thing he remembers is Remus offering him a bottle of wine, and then nothing.
Janus smiled softly to himself, getting up to pick up his clothes.
Remus really was a good friend.

Author: I made som mistakes early in the story that I will have to correct, but it will take some time. I have not abandoned this story, but I will be working on my computer and will not be active on royal road. "The elves start to leave their secure forest of Silvanwood for the first time in over two thousand years. Wizards are murdered in their own homes one by one to the dismay of the Jeidan Order of mages. The ancient ruins in Agnellia seem to have awoken after thousands of years of abandon. The flames of war are brewing, and the continent of Maëgor is about to witness a war like never seen before." Author’s note: This is a serious story, loosely inspired from many great works, which you will maybe be able to identify on your own. It is entirely original though. I’ll be working on this for hours every day, but that doesn’t necessarily means that there’ll be daily chapters. I don't own the rights to the cover image, and will immediatly take it down if the author requires so. Every chapter will be at least 2000 words. And congratulations to anyone who guesses on which language the chapter titles are written in.
8 183One in a Billion
My name is Xelean, since I can remember I always saw strange shapes floating in my field of vision. When I asked my parents about it, they looked at me concerned, perhaps thinking that I had a vision problem. Seeing his reaction I quickly said that it was all a joke. However, when I learned to read, I understood a little better what those images with letters were thanks to the following message:'Congratulations soul of the multiversal soul flow!!! You are the soul number 1 Billion that will be born in the world to which you were destined, in consideration and because the current situation of the world, certain benefits will be granted:[User interface][Inspection][Accelerated balanced growth] Sincerely, The Hive.' ---------------------------------------------------- Author Note/Warning:English is not my first language. One of the reasons why I started writing this is to improve my writing skills, so if you see any errors, please leave a comment. In this work there may be similar things/references to different novels (from webnovel and outside of it), role-playing campaigns, movies, anime and manga; since they shaped the idea that I have of the stories and I think that, in part, many of the ideas that I have in mind are consciously or unconsciously inspired by them.
