Roman swirled his glass of champagne, trying to keep up a dazzling smile. With such a high class crowd, he constantly had to maintain his perfect façade of being the remarkable EGOT winning Roman Prince. He was a bachelor with flawless looks and a voice no one could match. He had people of every identity swooning over him around the world. The people attending this party would expect him to live up to the hype.

He wasn't super familiar with whoever he was listening to, but fortunately, he had his agent by his side to make up for his lack of interest or knowledge. Logan Sharp was the sharply dressed man beside him who was eyeing him with disapproval.

It seemed that despite being one of the greatest actors of his generation, Roman couldn't fool his best friend. He swallowed back a small smirk at the thought.

The actor took a sip of his champagne and heard someone talking not too far away. He glanced over his shoulder, seeing the well-known director Patton Valentine practically pushing someone to join the party. He watched curiously and tried to overhear their conversation.

"- no one even knows me, Patton, please can't I just go home? This is awful," the young man he was pushing said.

"You have to get your name out there more, that's part of the job! Also, that's not true! Some people will definitely know you!" his friend encouraged. "Your short film was incredible! I'm sure that other people in the industry took notice and are bound to recognize you!"

Roman blinked a little and tried his hardest not to scowl in confusion as he tried to place his face. He'd watched a lot of short films in his time and racked his mind for anything he'd seen recently. He peered back at the mystery man and blinked. Oh, I think his name is Virgil Black? he thought to himself. I saw a short film with him earlier this year. It was that half hour film about a gay songwriter who tries to tell the man he loves about his feelings, but the man is straight and mistakes his song as being about a girl. I remember how moved I was by his voice and his expressions when he gave up trying at the end... I wonder if he's been auditioning for any bigger projects...

"I doubt it and I don't feel comfortable talking to anyone here but you, and you've got people you need to see. Can I please just go home?" Virgil pleaded, looking desperate.

Patton frowned firmly and shook his head. "No way young man, I refuse to let your potential go to waste. You have a serious chance in making it in this industry, and a party like this is a fantastic place to make contacts. Now go get grab a drink and loosen up a little. I'm going to go talk to people."

The director walked away from him, leaving him alone in the middle of the room. Virgil looked uncomfortable as he picked up a glass of champagne. It was clear he didn't want to be there.

Roman blinked and focused back on the person talking to him; truthfully, he hadn't listened to a word they had said. He nodded and smiled, playing off of what Logan was saying to make it seem like he had been. He felt a little bit bad about it. Usually, he was better about paying attention, but the arrival of Virgil Black had drawn his attention for some reason. He barely knew anything about him. He doubted he would get to talk to him during the party either.

It was about ten minutes later when the conversation ended and the person talking to him walked away. Logan turned to him with an arched eyebrow. "You didn't listen to anything they said, did you?" he said. He always got straight to the point. "You're acting very distracted tonight. Is there something wrong?"

"No, nothing's wrong, Logan," he reassured him. "I'm just a bit tired perhaps, I'm not sure, but I'm fine, I swear."

He glanced toward where he'd last since Virgil Black, blinking as he realized he was still there, but now had several empty champagne glasses on the table beside him. Logan followed his gaze and spotted him as well. "Ah, that's Virgil Black. I saw his short film about a week ago. He looks like a promising talent despite his lack of professional training."

"I agree... I wonder why he's drinking so much..." he thought aloud. "Do you think he's alright?"

Virgil turned toward the two of them, face flushed and eyes slightly glazed over. It was clear he was drunk as he stumbled toward them. His face held a lopsided grin on it as he grabbed Roman by the hand. "Roman~ You have to dance with me!" he slurred, tugging him toward the other people dancing.

"Um- excuse me?" he managed, feeling his cheeks warm with confusion and second-hand embarrassment.

People were already looking at them, given the fact that Virgil had just drunken pulled Roman Prince off toward the dancefloor. The actor didn't know what to do as he looked at the intoxicated young man before him. His dark brown eyes were sparkling happily as he looked up at him. He twirled around and began dancing, his laughter ringing through the air. "C'mon Roman! Dance with me!"

I don't even know you, he replied in his head. There are people watching. You're drunk out of your mind. You didn't even want to be here ten minutes ago. What is happening?!

He looked at Virgil again. As he moved, Roman's eyes widened. He couldn't deny that the man in front of him was absolutely gorgeous. He cleared his mind of all his thoughts. He tossed the weight of expectations out the window and stepped forward to join him.

The two of them danced around each other like morons to be sure, but on occasion, they'd come together for a surprisingly elegant spin or dip. For the first time in a very long time, Roman was having genuine fun. He laughed and twirled Virgil around again. The drunk man's uncoordinated feet seemed to slip out from under him as he started to tumble into him. Roman caught him against his chest forcefully, but found himself falling too. They quickly found themselves in a tangle of limbs on the floor, staring at each other.

A moment passed where they just looking at each other's flushed faces and wide eyes. Eventually, they both broke, bursting out into laughter.

Neither one of them seemed to care that tons of people were watching the famous Roman Prince dance with a drunk nobody. He himself didn't care either. He was always so busy keeping up appearances that at some point he forgot he was supposed to be enjoying his life; then this drunken beauty stumbled along and reminded him.

"You're a really good dancer," Roman said as he helped Virgil to his feet.

"Thanks, you're not terrible yourself," he replied with a wink.

The actor laughed; he'd taken over a decade of dance classes and this practically unheard of man just said that to him. He strangely couldn't find any incentive to be offended. He reached up to brushed the loose hairs away from his face as he shook his head.

Virgil hugged him tightly out of nowhere. He buried his face into his chest as the princely man gasped. "Roman, you should be in a movie with me! We could sing a pretty duet and be the handsomest gay couple in all of cinema history!" he exclaimed loudly. "You should play an actual prince, and I could be something cool too- like a PIRATE! A pirate and a prince! That would be so cool! Say you'd do that with me! Please?"

He stared down at him in absolute awe. His heart was racing. People around him were staring. So many people had heard him and Virgil didn't seem to care as he looked up with pleading eyes and blushing cheeks.

Roman blinked and felt his own cheeks flush.

He didn't have time to answer the question when Virgil's friend from earlier rushed over. Patton Valentine looked both mortified and incredibly amused as he pulled him off of the actor. "Oh my gosh, Virgil! I've been looking for you everywhere," he scolded. Virgil gasped and latched onto him like a child. He then turned to Roman with an apologetic expression. "I'm so sorry about him, he's not great with social situations or alcohol. I should take him home."

"It's fine," Roman replied with a small smile. Virgil was practically falling asleep in Patton's arms. His smile grew at the adorable sight. "And yes, that seems like a good idea. He did tired himself out dancing."

"Gosh, sorry again," Patton said, looking embarrassed.

He watched as the director escorted Virgil out of the party. He didn't take his eyes off of them, a fond smile stuck on his face. It wasn't until Logan came up beside him and cleared his throat that he was broken from his trance.

"You appeared to be having fun," he commented.

"Logan, I need you to contact Patton Valentine for me and tell him I'd like him to direct a movie staring Virgil Black and myself," he said, not even looking at him. His eyes were still fixed on the young man Patton had his arms around. He smiled wider. "I have a screenplay to write."
