As Patton wandered the streets of London, he couldn't help the thrill he felt. There was a crispness to the air that he wasn't used to. Being from Florida, the temperature difference was a bit of a shock to his system. It made him smile.

He knew he probably looked like a tourist, but as he watched other Americans in Hawaiian print shirts and baseball caps walk by, he felt better knowing he wasn't as bad as them. Sure, he didn't radiate the same amount of familiarity that locals did and he held a London A-Z book in hand as he navigated, but his baby blue sweater over a white button down didn't scream tourist like those in baseball caps and t-shirts with giant print stating the city's name on them.

Patton adjusted his round glasses as he strolled along the streets of London. He noticed that at the end of the block there was a small Italian restaurant. Given that it was almost lunch, he figured he could stop there to grab a bite to eat.

As he made his way toward the restaurant, he bumped into someone. They swung around a little bit, both men attempting to apologize. "Sorry mate, my bad," a kind British voice said.

"No, no, it's alright," Patton hurried, smiling. His eyes then landed on the man that stood before him. He was on the short side and a bit stocky in his build. He held himself with a sense of purpose and he looked up at his face, he realized he'd seen him somewhere before. His blond hair and light blue-grey eyes were incredibly familiar. His eyes widened in realization. "Oh my gosh, you're Dr. John Watson!"

John looked surprised but smiled with a flattered expression. "Uh, yeah, that's me."

"Sorry, I'm just surprised, my friend Logan and I love your blog," he explained. "Logan's a genius, he loves reading about your adventures, even if he won't admit it. He's also definitely read every article on Sherlock's website, but if I'm honest, I couldn't comprehend a lick of what he was talking about when he tried to explain it to me. I guess I'm not clever enough to get it."

He laughed and earned a chuckle from the man before him. "I've been there mate, but don't worry, it gets easier," he reassured him, putting his hand on his shoulder jokingly. "Without us normal people, the geniuses would starve to death."

"Oh my gosh, you're so right!" Patton agreed, eyes going right. "I swear if I didn't constantly remind him, Logan would just forget to eat all together."

John laughed. "They're always wrapped up in their work, huh?" he said. As the other man nodded, he shook his head and rolled his eyes. "God, at least it's not just me. Finally, someone understands what it's like to have take care of a sociopath who happens to be a genius. Does yours also have a general disregard for other people's feelings?"

"Unfortunately, yeah," he admitted, sighing. "I'm a really empathetic person too, so it's a bit tough sometimes to have to accept that he doesn't care the same way most of us do. I know deep down he cares about those close to him."

"Oh yes, they still care," John confirmed. "I remember a few cases ago when I got strapped up in bombs, if you've read the blog, I wrote about it, but he'd been basically in a panic to get me out of them once the guy behind had left. Suddenly, the genius who never stops running his mouth couldn't complete a sentence without stuttering."

Patton smiled warmly at the implications that the doctor had unintentional made. "Well, they're messes, but our messes, right?"

"Yes, I supposed he is," he agreed. His phone then chirped, making him frown as he took it out of his pocket. He scoffed under his breath as he read whatever message he'd received. "Well, speaking of my mess, the consulting detective himself calls. It was a pleasure to meet you, Mr?"

"Valentine, Patton Valentine, but Patton's fine," he replied as he shook the man's hand. "If the case makes the blog, I'll be sure to read it!"

John nodded with a chuckle and waved goodbye. He then walked off, leaving Patton standing in shock watching him go. He'd just met John Watson. Most people would rather meet Sherlock Holmes, as he was the clever one with the extraordinary talent for deduction, but Patton had always admired Dr. Watson. Sherlock reminded him of Logan, and he supposed that he saw some of himself in John. It felt nice to have a chat with him about having a genius sociopath as a best friend.
