Roman's favorite part of the school day is nap time! It was the hour of the day where all the kids get get their pillows and blankets from the cubbies and take their daily nap, and he loved to parade around with his crown covered blanket-cape before curling up on the rug for a cozy slumber.
There was one other thing he loved about nap time, and that was Virgil! Virgil was his best friend, the boy he was going to grow up and marry some day. He loved to hold hands on the playground and play pretend where he was the knight in shining armor rescuing his damsel in distress.
Virgil was a quiet boy, and his favorite color was purple! He also liked rain, but when it got too intense, he'd get scared. That's when Roman would hold his hand and stay by his side until it was over. He was a sweet and anxious little boy, but he loved him nonetheless. He was unique! He brought a stuffed tiger with him to school for naps!
During nap time, the two of them always shared their pillows and their blankets, curling up next to one another and clasping their little hands together before drifting off into sleep. It was a daily routine that Roman always looked forward to!
"C'mon Virge! It's nap time!" he called, his blanket wrapped around his shoulders and he bounced toward the rug.
The other boy was searching frantically for something, appearing to not find it. "I can't find Tiger!" he gasped out, looking at him with wide, tear-filled eyes. "He's missing! Roman, what do I do?"
"Oh no! Don't cry," he said, hurrying over to him. He put his little hands on his cheeks, trying to wipe away the tears. "We'll find Tiger!"

"You promise?" Virgil asked as he sniffled and wiped his nose.
Roman nodded and hugged him tightly. "I promise!" he replied. "Now come on, we're gonna look for him! Where did you last put him?"
"He was in my cubby! I don't know where he went!" he cried, looking upset again at the thought.
The young princely boy took him by the hand took him around the classroom to look for him. They made their way over to the nap time rug where their peers were waiting for the teacher to tell them when nap time started. Roman noticed a familiar soft orange fur near the back of the rug. He gasped, realizing the bully of the class had stolen it!
"Hey! Billy! That's Virgil's Tiger!" he shouted, stomping over to the boy.
He looked up and held the tiger to his chest, scowling at the two of them. "So? It's mine now! I found it on the floor under the cubbies! Clearly Virgil doesn't care about it enough! He's just a screw up!"
At this, the young boy teared up and hid behind his prince. "Hey! Say you're sorry!" Roman yelled.
"Children! Children! What's going on here?" the teacher interrupted, having returned from stepping out of the room for a moment. She looked between the three boys. "Roman, why are you yelling?"
"Cause Billy stole Virgil's Tiger and said mean things about him!" he said, pointing a finger. "He won't give it back! And won't say he's sorry either!"
The teacher put her hands on her hips and frowned down at the boy holding the tiger. "Now Billy, what have we talked about?"
"Not taking what's not ours," he mumbled, releasing the tiger as the teacher reached for it.

"And what do you need to say to Virgil?" she continued, nodding toward the sniffling boy as she handed the plushie to its rightful owner. "It begins with an 's'?"
Billy frowned and looked toward him. "I'm sorry."
Virgil didn't say anything, simply hugging his tiger as close to his chest as possible, seemingly relieved that he got it back. Roman smiled took his hand, leading him to their usual spot on the nap time rug. They put their pillows down and sat down on the floor.
"We got him back!" he whisper shouted as they laid down together and pulled their blankets up to their necks. "That meanie Billy doesn't know what he's talking about, either, you're wonderful, Virgil."
"Thanks Roman," he said sleepily, eyes slipping shut as he hugged his tiger and reached out to clutch the other boy's little hand. "You're the best."
