《Sanders Sides One Shots: Volume 2 [COMPLETED]》Stuck On A Ferris Wheel (Prinxiety)

Virgil hated Valentine's Day, seeing as he was spending it with platonic friends. It was nice that he had friends to share the holiday with, but he longed for a romantic partner. He certainly didn't have one of those, so he wasn't sure why he'd agreed to going with them to the amusement park.
He was moping, walking beside his two friends with his shoulders hunched up and his head down. He was the most obvious third wheel in history seeing as Patton and Logan were so obviously in a relationship.
"We're gonna go get ice cream, alright Virgil?" Patton said, pulling him from his thoughts.
The darkly dressed boy nodded, sighing as they walked away. He found set of picnic tables to sit at, waiting for his friend to return. Virgil didn't know why he'd let them talk him into going to this stupid thing. He just wanted to go home and cry himself to sleep like he did on most days.
"Greetings Virgil!"
The voice of the prince of performing made him look up in surprise and then sigh. "What do you want, Roman?" he questioned, lowering his head. "Don't you have a boyfriend you need to woo?"
Roman looked affronted, blinking. "I... I don't actually, but I don't really understand what warrants your aggression," he replied, shifting on his feet. "I was simply saying hello, although I also wanted to know if you wanted to join me on a ride seeing as you're alone."
"Like what?" Virgil questioned, looking up with a look of annoyance.
"Well, I was thinking you wouldn't be game enough for the Ferris wheel," he commented slyly, knowing how to rile the anxious boy up.
Sure enough, his remark earned an indignant huff from him. "Excuse me? I'm fine with the stupid Ferris wheel," he snapped, standing up and marching toward it with Roman following along behind him. They got into line for it, the actor smirking with satisfaction while Virgil's stomach started churning uncomfortably. His hands were fidgeting and his heart started to pound so hard he could feel his chest shifting with it. It was practically painful as his panic rose. He sat down with Roman in the Ferris wheel cart. "You're a dumbass..."

"What did you call me?" the actor ask incredulously as the cart started rising.
Virgil wasn't talking to him. He was staring at the ground, now getting further and further away. His hands gripped the railing keeping them inside so tightly the veins showed through his skin. His breathing was shallow and quick. "Why the hell did you agree to this?" he whispered, squeezing his eyes shut as he shook with fear.
"Virgil, are you alright?" Roman questioned, realizing he'd been talking to himself. When they reached the top, the cart came to a stuttering stop and the lights illuminating it turned off. Virgil's eyes snapped open as he looked down. They were stuck, making him even more terrified. The actor turned to him, seeing the way his body was quivering. "Okay, Virgil? Can you try to take deep breaths for me?"
He shook his head, curling in on himself as he hyperventilated. "Okay, okay, can you at least try to explain what caused this?" he asked, reaching to take his hand.
"Y-You did!" Virgil cried out, eyes shimmering with unshed tears. "I- I'm scared of h-heights Roman! And you t-tricked me into going on this... this stupid F-Ferris wheel and now we're s-stuck! And y-you make me n-nervous on top of all that!"
The actor was taken aback when he was finished, staring in shock. "V-Virgil I-" he tried, swallowing as the anxious boy continued to shake and cry. He clenched his jaw, telling himself to help him. Roman took each of his hands in his own, squeezing them to get him to look up at him. "Virgil, I'm so sorry. I didn't intend for this to be a negative experience for you. I... I was trying to ask you out... this was meant to be romantic, but I didn't realize you were scared of heights. I'm so, so sorry. Now please, squeeze my hands alright? Take a deep breath in, and let it out slowly."

Virgil nodded a little, tears still rolling down his cheeks as he did as he was told. He squeezed the other boy's hands tightly as he sucked in air and then relaxed his grip when he exhaled. He continued the motions until his breathing was back to normal and his head wasn't pounding as much.
"Thanks..." he mumbled as he continued to breathe in and out. "Thanks and- uh... I'm sorry, for freaking out..."
Roman offered an encouraging smile, tracing circles into his hand with his thumb. "It's alright, Virgil, really, you're fine. They'll fix the wheel in no time, and we'll be back on the ground, safe and sound, alright?" he said, voice soft to try and help him calm down further. He nodded a little before looking up.
"Did you this was meant to be romantic?" he asked, eyes wide as he glanced at their hands.
That's when the actor bit his lip and laughed nervously. "Yes, I uh- I was planning on trying to kiss you, you know, when we got to the top, like in the movies," Roman explained with a red face full of embarrassment. "I'm kinda in love with you... I may or may not have had a serious crush on you since elementary school..."
Virgil was speechless as the other boy withdrew his hands with a sigh. "I guess I messed that up," he said sadly before a silence fell between them.
"You could still try that if you want..."
Roman's eyes shot up, meeting the anxious boy's gaze. He gave a tiny, shy smile as he looked at him expectantly. The actor swallowed, leaning in slowly to give him plenty time to pull away if he decided he didn't want to. Their eyes both slipped closed as he closed the distance, their lips meeting in the softest kiss he could do. Virgil's lips were soft, and he wanted more, but he pulled back quickly, not daring to go too far.
He waited for the anxious boy's eyes to open, searching them when they did. "Was that okay?" he murmured.
"I don't know..." Virgil whispered back, making Roman's heart jump with fear and regret until he continued. "You should- would you... do it again?"
A smile found its way onto his lips as he moved his hand to junction between his neck and his jaw, moving in to kiss him a little harder. He felt him smile and kiss him back.
At that moment, the Ferris wheel shuttered back to life, making them break apart quickly with a jump, both of them panting and looking startled. When the lights turned on they realized the wheel had started moving again, making them giggle a little at themselves for being so scared.
Roman reached forward to lace their fingers together. "This is okay, right?" he asked with a smile.
The anxious boy smiled, nodding as he leaned in to kiss him gently. "Yes," he murmured when he pulled back. "This is perfect."

*NOTE* This novel is a war of attrition. To say anything less is a disservice to its demand. While comparable to other such works as Ulysses or Moby Dick, each sentence in Conquest is an enemy to be tackled. Not in the ways of difficulty but in absurd density that wishes nothing more than to destroy what patience you may have. Do not tackle chapters as you would ordinary chapters in an ordinary book. Tackle each chapter as a book unto itself. A foe to be vanquished, a period of life to leave behind. Seek to be master of this work. Seek to overcome. For in its design is the willpower, and the perseverance, and the strength of someone who sought meaning in struggle. As I discovered these in times of ultimate desperation, so I hope for you to discover these things. This novel is a love letter to your trials. May you overcome them. May you master them. May you become conquerer.- SeedSagaA literary epic for logophiles, philosophers, and poets alike. A journey into zeitgeist, the impact of media on culture, and the endurance of morality against an onslaught of hatred. These vague descriptions do little to compact Conquest's density into a bite-size summary. They do however relate the basest themes found within. A plot, if such can be surmised, is strung thinly across multiple perspectives, weaving together these concepts into a seemingly distorted tapestry of indecipherable events. Inspired by early 20th century modernism, Conquest will challenge the reader, and provide critique on the medium upon which all great stories are derived. Further interpretation is up to you now; an explorer among a sea of words. Venture on and discover what lies ahead, in...CONQUEST OF MORTEM
