《Sanders Sides One Shots: Volume 1 [COMPLETED]》Fire (No Ship)

Roman felt his muscles relax as the warm air seeped into his skin. He lived in quite a warm habitat, seeing that he was a half dragon. Not only was he a half dragon, he was a half fire dragon. His surroundings consisted of a dormant volcano, one that was unlikely to erupt any time soon. However, despite it's dormant state, lava could still be found inside its cave systems. As a half dragon, it was perfect.
Whenever he was looking for life, Roman could always stroll through the forest biome surrounding the volcano. He'd never truly explored it, having been warned against possible aggressive creatures that could be inside; not that he needed to worry about defending himself.
Roman could create fire at his fingertips, or even breathe it if he chose to. The half dragon often enjoyed going for flights around the volcano, creating rings of fire to provide some sort of difficulty. He was always challenging himself, wanting to be the best at anything and everything that came his way, though that wasn't much.
There wasn't many half dragons around his home. Maybe a few he'd befriended, but it wasn't as though there was a kingdom of them on the volcano. He'd heard stories and rumors about the fairies, and how they had a whole civilization on a mountain that was so tall it broke through the clouds. He'd seen the mountain, but hadn't ever been curious enough to fly up and see it for himself. He enjoyed the idea of having others around, but was often on his own.
He sighed as he looked out at the sky, speckled with fluffy white clouds. Roman could stretch his massive scarlet wings and show of the glistening golden scales on their undersides as he soared through the air, but he wasn't in the mood. The few half dragons he knew would tell you that was strange. He never gave up an opportunity to show off; yet here he sat with his knees drawn up to his chest, sighing.

As much as it pained him to admit, Roman was lonely. He may come across as narcissistic or arrogant upon first meeting him, which often leads to the misconception that he needs no one. This couldn't be far from the truth, as being alone was always taking its toll on him. He had so many ideas, so many things he desired to explore; but what was the point if he was alone? The acquaintances he'd made wouldn't accompany him if he asked, and Roman didn't wish to go alone. He longed for a friend, or perhaps even something more. A romantic partner, maybe.
The half dragon sighed heavily as the thought crossed his mind yet again. He was snapping his fingers a couple times, creating small sparks of flame as he allowed the feelings to flow. There were slim chances of him meeting someone he could even consider to be a lover. There weren't many of his kind, and he'd never met other creatures. The weight of his loneliness had stopped him from searching, but perhaps he'd try it soon on his own.
Roman looked up at the blue sky, gold flecked brown and amber dragon eyes glistening as a strand of his red and orange colored hair fell in front of them. They narrowed with determination as he set his jaw. He'd made up his mind, having had enough of moping around.
I'm going to go out there, and I'm going to meet new people, discover new species, and explore new places, he told himself. I'm through with letting myself sit around. I'm Roman; I'm strong, healthy, independent, confident, and kind. I will not waste my time on this earth.
He stood up and opened his wings, jumping into the air.
