《Sanders Sides One Shots: Volume 1 [COMPLETED]》Heart Thumping Like Wing Beats (Prinxiety)

Roman's POV:
I let out a sigh as the cold air blew around me. I was who knows how high up, surrounded on all sides by clouds. I stopped beating my wings, letting myself start to fall back towards earth. The air whipped at my hair and condensing water vapor formed droplets on my eyelashes. I smiled as my wings snapped open to soar upward. Being an angel came with responsibilities, but when you got to do the one thing every human ever wants to do, it's worth it.
Speaking of responsibilities, I thought with an internal groan. I shouldn't be groaning... I'm an angel! I have a mission, and that is to help guide someone to the afterlife.
I swooped back over the town, scanning it for signs. I noticed a strange purple cloud, causing me to change directions. In case you were at all curious, mortals can't see angels until they're dying. I landed in a dark alley, hand hovering over my sword in case of any danger.
"What the hell is a angel doing here?" a sarcastic voice said. I snapped my head in the direction of it, drawing my sword.
"Show yourself!" I demanded. The voice scoffed and emerged, revealing a strikingly attractive demon dressed in all black. He had purple bat like wings on his back and small purple horns. Tasteless black eye shadow was smudged under his gorgeous- I mean, his eyes. "What are you doing here?"
"I literally just asked you first," he said, looking bored. "Whatever, I'm here cause some asshole is about to die so I gotta take him where he belongs."
I gave him a confused look. "But, I'm here to guide someone to the afterlife as well," I said.
"You must have only guided people who've died from illness or accident caused deaths," he muttered. "You see, if I'm not mistaken, the guy I'm about to take is going to be the cause of the death that you're going to guide to the afterlife or whatever..."

I felt my jaw drop. "S-Seriously?"
He opened his mouth to reply, but shut it as a young man in blue ran into the alley looking scared. I felt helpless as he came to the dead end and turned around. He was crying as a second man came sprinting into the alley with a gun.
"P-Please! I-I'll leave town! I'll get as far away from you as possible! I won't say a word to anyone! Please!" he sobbed. My heart was breaking as I watched the man mercilessly laugh at him.
"Sorry but we can't have any witnesses," he said, stepping closer with the gun. The young man suddenly grabbed it, shoving it to aim at the ground as the other pulled the trigger. They started to struggle for the gun. A couple more gunshots went off before the young man in blue emerged with the gun and shot him.
I was glad that he was victorious, but my chest immediately weighed more again as the man collapsed. I could only assume some of the previous gunshots had hit him, and that that was the cause of his death. The demon had already gone over to the evil man behind this encounter and had dragged him away to I could assume was hell. I held back tears as I approached the young man in blue on the ground.
He opened his eyes ever so slightly, widening them upon seeming me. "A-An angel?"
I gave him a sad smile and offered a hand to him. "Come with me."
That wasn't the last time I'd see that demon. I'd bump into him on patrol, not really saying much. I wasn't a higher up in the Angels' society, so I never had much to do, and I could only assume the same for him. He was normally sitting under a tree or something while I flew over the area. One day, I decided to ask him his name, which he did not share. I'd occasionally sit with him for a bit, doing most of the talking whenever I did. I'm not sure why, but something about him just... drew me in. I could tell that I was falling for him.

"Hey can I ask you something?" I said as we sat under that tree. He didn't respond, which was normal. "Why don't you ever fly?"
To this, I saw his head jerk up a little before he lowered his gaze again. "I've- uh, I've had a bad experience with it in the past..." he muttered. "I don't like it..."
I gasped. "How could you not like flying?!" I said incredulously. He kept his face hidden as I stared at him. I frowned, standing up and offering him a hand.
"Huh?"
"Fly with me," I said. "Just once, and if you hate it, I won't bother you about it ever again."
He looked hesitant as he took my hand. I smiled as I started to pump my wings, pulling him into the air. He seemed alarmed at first until he began to spread his wings. I held his hand, squeezing it to remind him I was here as he tested out his wings again.
A small smile formed on his face as he began to fly himself. I was barely even holding him for anything other than support. He looked up with a shy smile. I beamed at him slowly letting go of his hand completely.
He seemed alarmed at first but was soon soaring through the sky with ease. I watched, breath taken away as he gracefully twisted and turned through the clouds. He flashed a smile at me as he soared higher. I found myself grinning as I followed him.
He flew over to me, hovering in front of me with a smile. "This is really fun... thank you," he said, a slight blush appearing on his cheeks.
"Y-Yeah, no problem?" I trailed off, questioning his name. He frowned for a moment before sighing.
"My name's... Virgil..." he said softly, looking up through his bangs to see my reaction. I smiled.
"I like it, Virgil," I said, taking his hand in mine. My cheeks lit up as we hovered there holding hands. "Virgil... I- uh..."
I couldn't find the words, blushing more as I stuttered. It was to my shock that I felt a pair of soft lips pressing against my own. I gently kissed back, moving my other hand to his cheek. We pulled away with breathless smiles.
"I'm glad I wasn't the only one who fell in love too easily..." he murmured. "All it took was seeing your stupidly perfect face everyday..."
I smiled, pressing my forehead to his. "I love you."
"I love you too."
