Five days until the funeral.
I stopped walking once I reached the top of the stairs and turned to look back at Carter, he followed after and stopped to look down at me.
"What if t-the door doesn't open?..." He mumbled in a trembling voice, I shook my head slowly and placed a thin hand on his shaky shoulder, triggering a small flinch in response. "It'll open..." I reassured him in a small voice.
He hesitantly nodded, obviously not believing my words, and I couldn't blame him. I wasn't sure if I even believed my words.
I sighed and begrudgingly began down the narrow hallway. The wooden flooring letting out loud shrieks as we made our way through the corridor, the scent of rotting wood was unbearable.
The silence was even more so.
Carter shuffled his feet close to my own, he must have been seeking the comfort of another human.
I wonder...
What did Pennywise do to him?
Was his torture worse than mine?
Or did he just react to mental pain in a different way than me?
I felt so terrible for Carter.
He was normal.
And then I came along and ruined his life.
I lowered my eyes to stare at the worn down wood that acted as a floor, it sounded as if the floor could give way at any second.
I wonder if anyone hurt themselves in here before?
I paused my movements and turned my head, Carter had left my presence and gone to explore a room with a slight ajar door. He placed his hand on the knob and slowly began to push the creaky door open, I limped towards him and swatted my hand on his back; he jumped and turned to me with wide eyes. "Don't... W-We don't have t-ti-time..." I whispered to him.
He quickly nodded and released the door knob before taking a step away from the old door.
I grabbed hold of his arm and pulled him forward, dragging him with me as I slowly limped down the hall.
My tail bone popping every now and again. I shifted my head as I spotted a second stair way, it swirled against the old walls of the building and lowered to what I assumed was the level floor of the structure.
I had no clue where Carter and I actually were, but I knew it looked to be an old house.
I took a few steps toward the stair case and looked up at Carter before speaking, "You've b-been around this place... I-Is this where we g-go?" I asked quietly only for Carter to nod soon after, "Y-Yeah..." He mumbled before softly pushing me forward.
I lowered my feet onto the stairs and cringed at the untrusted creaks of the wood, I began my way down the boards. It was sweet how Carter seemed so adamant on me being in front, even in a deadly situation, ladies first.
I drew in a deep breath as I stepped down on one of the boards that sat in the middle of the stair way, it let out a loud scream of weakness and out escaped a small crack. A hint of wood breaking off and jabbing into my bare feet, I let out a cry and my knees buckled, my body nearly falling forward and rolling down the stair way. Carter frantically reached forward and grabbed ahold of my small arm before pulling me back and against his chest.

I breathed in, desperate for air.
I slowly lowered my head to look down at my right foot, a strip of broken wood poking into my foot and drawing blood.
My mouth sat agape in shock from the sudden action.
Carter kneeled down and sat down on one of the weak steps, he looked up at me; refraining from looking up my dress due to the height he was at.
"Can I?..." He asked in a shaky tone, I nodded and bit my bottom lip; lifting my foot to allow Carter to take hold of my heel and set it on his lap.
He took a deep breath and stared at the fresh wound, before softly placing three fingers around the piece of wood and lightly tugging at it. I let out a squeak of pain and tensed at the feeling that seemed to have pumped through my bloodstream. Carter pursed his lips together and furrowed his brows, he took a deep breath only to hold it in his maw. He gripped the spike of wood and gripped it tightly with his fingers before yanking it out of my foot in a fast pull.
I cried out and covered my mouth with the palm of my hand, clenching my eyes shut when water began to fill at the brim of my eyes. Carter swiftly pressed his hand against the now open wound to keep blood back, "I would h-have kept the wood in u-un-until we-we were free... But y-you need to be ab-able to m-move..." He explained in a quiet voice, I nodded quickly in response, holding back the urge to cuss Carter out for causing me more pain.
Carter raised his eyes to meet my own, "I'm s-sorry..." He whispered before slowly lifting his hand from my foot, allowing my blood to quickly emerge from the open injury and slither down my foot and onto the jeans that cuddled Carter's legs.
He ignored that blood that coated his jeans and slowly raised my foot from his body, he proceeded to softly place it back on the floor.
He then placed both his hands against his long sleeved shirt and began ripping a slip off of the cloth, once this task was completed he looked at me.
"Lift your f-foot?" He requested in a clear stutter, I nodded and lifted my injured limb. He raised the torn cloth to my foot and wrapped it around the injured part of my foot, he then tied a tight knot to keep it secure around me.
He arose to his feet and forced a small smile on his face, I frowned at his attempt to raise my spirits and continued slowly down the stairs.
Only a few more steps down and we both froze in unison, the horrible shaking of the building sent us grabbing each others arms for support.
My eyes widened at the noise that followed after the tremors.
"Y/N!" The voice echoed clearly from inside the well that sat quite a distance away from Carter and I, so it was terrifying to hear the voice so clearly.
I looked up at Carter with wide eyes, he ushered me forward, both of us knowing who it was that had called for me. "Go. Move!" He demanded, and I obliged by forcing myself to run the best I could down the remaining stairs.

I let out a shriek of fear at the banging that emanated from the well room, Carter hushed me loudly and pushed me forward once I reached the floor that was level to the outside world.
He pointed in the direction of the front door and pressed his hand against my back to push me towards it.
I looked around frantically when a loud, psychotic laughter bounced against the many walls of the building, now mixing in with the loud rattling of the structure as it shook violently.
I slammed my body against the door and grabbed the door knob, I frantically jiggled the door knob before realizing it was locked, I lowered my hand to the lock and clumsily attempted to turn it to rid the locked efforts of the door. In this process I screamed out at the sound of Carter being slammed to the floor and being dragged away from me by a few feet.
He let out a cry before quickly climbing to his feet and attempting to run back to my trembling frame, I turned my body to watch what happened next.
Pennywise revealed himself in front of Carter, wrapping his clawed hands around Carters neck and slamming him to the wooden floor. Wood planks snapping at the violent movement against it. Carter let out a cry of pain, becoming dizzy and dazed for a long while.
Pennywise giggled at the fearful yet clueless look that played on Carters face, he then turned to face me. His grin immediately disappearing as he began to march towards me, a serious look now sat upon his white face.
He arrived directly in front of my trembling body, towering over me with furrowed brows. His orange eyes stared into my e/c eyes.
The angered expression on his face faltered, and formed into a sad look, he raised a clawed hand and slowly stroked my red cheek. "Why'd you leave me, my sweets?" He asked, his voice breaking in the process.
He sounded genuinely hurt.
His touch sent shivers down my spine, my grip on the door knob and lock tightening as he leaned down to get a closer look at my frightened face.
"You lied to me this whole time..." He began in a low voice.
"You lied about that-" he lowered his orange eyes to my belly and pointed at it. He bit his bottom lip with his bunny teeth before looking at me once again.
"That was mine..." He whispered, his voice sounded weaker than usual.
I couldn't help but to let out a cry of defeat, he knew and I didn't know if he was mad at me, or mad at himself.
I could feel a pulse in the tips of my fingers, my grip on the knob and lock still tightening; my knuckles began to turn white.
Pennywise opened his mouth to speak, but was interrupted with a loud bang and a wooden chair being slammed across the back of his head.
He froze in response to the violent occurrence and stared blankly at me for a moment, seeming shocked by the pain. His claws still rested against my cheek, Carter rushed forward, quickly placing his hands against Pennywise's chest and pushing him away.
"Unlock the door!" He shouted, I nodded and frantically turned at the lock. It did as instructed so I turned to the knob and rolled it to the side, pushing my body against the door to open it faster. Only it didn't budge.
I cried out in frustration only for Carter to be pulled away once again, I turned to watch. Pennywise grabbing hold of Carter's left arm and pulling him away from me, he allowed his maw to widen, his lips drawing back to allow his now rows of sharp teeth to escape his mouth. He began to lean forward, towards Carters arm. Laughing evilly.
I screamed, "Stop!" Tears now running down my cheeks, Pennywise froze for a moment, his orange eyes falling onto my shaking body.
He stared at me for a long moment, I was taken aback by his obedience for a moment, and then he continued he process. Leaning forward to bite at Carters arm.
Carter screamed desperately, frantically trying to escape the clowns tight grip on him. I looked around for something to grab, something to throw.
Anything.
But there was nothing.
"Get the damn d-door open, Y/n!" Carter screamed at me, turning his attention back to Pennywise. He raised a leg and kicked at Pennywise, hitting him in the chest, gut, and crotch.
But the clown refused to respond to the hints of pain throughout his body.
I begrudgingly obeyed and focused on the door, I turned the knob and began to violently slam my small body against the door. I occasionally turned to see Pennywise inching closer to Carters arm.
Carter had pressed his foot against Pennywise's chest, forcing a distance between them to stall for me.
"Hurry!" He shouted, terror showing in his wavering voice; tears running down his freckled cheeks.
I screamed in frustration and banged myself against the door once again, it burst open with a loud bang.
Pennywise and Carter turned to look at me, both their eyes were wide.
I stumbled forward, catching my body in the doorway before the door swung back and caught me in its path. I was now stuck.
And I knew Pennywise had forced the door onto me.
To keep me from leaving him.
Pennywise stared wide eyed at me, watching every movement I made with a tensed look on his deathly white face.
Perhaps the first time he felt anxious?
Carter swiftly shook his head.
He knew that if I made my way back into the house to save me the door would shut and it wouldn't open once again.
"Y/n!- G-Get out!" He screamed.
I stared with wide, watery eyes. I turned my head to face the outside of the house. The outside world was so close to my grasp.
I turned to look at Carter and Pennywise once again, both wide eyed and on edge. Carter so close to my grasp, just like the outside world.
"Leave me! J-Just go!-" He cried out as Pennywise reached an arm forward and wrapped his claws around Carters neck, yanking his head towards him.
Carter choked for a moment before forcing the words out of his throat.
"Get out, Y-Y/n!..."
