Y/n P.o.v
After locking the door I turned around to see my new found nearby neighbor, Carter, standing behind me and watching. I forced a small smile onto my face as he raised an eyebrow at me.
"Paranoid are we?" He asked.
I looked down for a moment, in complete embarrassment.
"Just a bit cautious, " I responded hesitantly.
Carter smiled lightly. "I'm sorry,"
I quickly shook my head, "no, it's okay, really. It's my fault for worrying about killers being out to kill my entire family!" I smiled in content with my response.
Carter's eyes were wide, he then mouthed the word "Oh"
I blushed a bit at how strange I was acting, the orange lights across the street just seemed to unsettle me.
"I'm sorry- ugh, i'm just a bit tired. You can sit down in the dining room, i'll get you a drink? " I questioned, gesturing to the small room that held a four way table.
Carter looked around as he made his way over and sat down. He set the small box down and untied the red balloon, he held it close and examined it.
I watched him for a moment before passing through the Dining room to enter the Kitchen. I threw the fridge open and frowned at the scarcity of food and drinks.
Looks like Mom hasn't gone shopping in a while, I picked up the jug of Milk and studied it's date.
Ew.
Whelp, I probably shouldn't give this to Carter unless I want to kill him.
And I don't want to, so no thanks!
I turned around with the jug and carried it to the sink- I was about to open it and pour the chunks down the drain but that probably wasn't the best idea. I just set it down on the counter beside the sink and made my way back to the fridge, I narrowed my eyes at the fridge due to it's dim light.
"Hey uh... Carter? What do you want to drink?" I called to him.
"Um... Anything is fine!" He responded.

I nodded to myself and pulled out some Apple Juice, always a good last resort.
I set it on the counter and pulled out two cups, I rolled the cap off of the top of the large jug and poured the juice into the cups.
I put the Apple juice back, picked up the cups and sat down with them at the table. I passed one of the cups to Carter with a small smile.
"thank you, Y/n," Carter smiled gratefully before raising the cup to his lips and drinking away.
I watched him closely for a moment before looking down at my own cup, I wiggled it around slightly as I watched the liquid wave around.
"Tell me about yourself,"
I raised my head to look at Carter, "hm?" I asked, he chuckled lightly.
"Tell me about you," he requested, I took a long breath before speaking.
"Okay... Um... I'm Y/n... I have a dad... And I- um... I used to have a Mom and little Brother... His name was Grayson... " I paused to clear my throat.
"My parents got divorced when I was eleven... So I moved to Georgia with my Dad, and now i'm here!" I forced a smile as I did jazz hands.
Carter laughed uncomfortably.
I blushed slightly and looked down at my drink. "Your turn..." I mumbled.
Carter paused to think about himself.
"I like art, I've always wanted to write and animate my own show. So I've been trying hard to find a good college! " he stopped to draw a deep breath in.
"Oh, I also have a Mom... That's it. I was adopted, " Carter smiled at his words and stared at me.
"Wow, look at that. We both only have one family member," I responded with a forced smile.
Carter gave me a look of disapproval, "No, I only have one family member. You still have yours, their just- watching from afar," he explained before looking down at his Apple Juice.
I stared at him for a moment, a bit embarrassed about being lectured.

"Sorry..." I mumbled shyly.
And I began chugging my Juice.
~
A few minutes went by, and Carter decided he should get going.
He stood up and set the small box down on the table, he then handed me the red balloon.
"Open it once I leave, okay?" He requested with an eager smile before turning and walking to the door, I hesitantly followed him. I rushed in front and unlocked the front door for him before opening it.
Carter stepped out, turned to look at me and smiled softly.
"I hope to see you soon, Y/n,"
And with that...
I slammed the door shut and turned around, I locked the door once more and slid down against it and onto the floor.
I let out a long sigh before running my fingers through my hair.
After a moment of lowering my anxiety, I stood up and walked upstairs.
I need some sleep.
A two hour nap maybe?
Or just sleeping through the whole day?
Who knows... We shall see.
I grabbed my suitcase that sat at the bottom of the stairs and climbed up the steps. I then made my way towards my Mom's used to be room, I stared at the white door for a long moment before gripping the knob and pulling the door open.
I took a slow step into the room and drew in a long breath.
The tension in this room was unreal.
I shook my head.
I threw my suitcase onto the bed and unzipped it, I pulled out some grey sport shorts that I usually wore to bed. I proceeded to grab a grey tank-top to match it.
I turned around to face away from the bed before pulling my shirt over my head and off of me. I threw it onto the floor and looked down at my chest.
I examined my F/c bra to make sure I didn't need to adjust it at all.
I smiled contently at how well it supported me.
I then pulled my bottoms off to reveal my matching undergarments. I furrowed my brows as I focused on grabbing my pajamas from the bed, but before I could actually grab them.
I froze.
My eyes narrowed at the red balloon that floated in the doorway of the room. I expected it to float up and onto the ceiling or the top of the door way, but it stayed completely still.
Along with that, didn't I leave that downstairs?
A shiver ran down my spine.
Oh hell nah.
I quickly skidded over to the red balloon and grabbed it by it's thin string. I then pulled it into the room before shutting the bedroom door.
I felt a bit unsettled at the moment so I threw my pajamas on and climbed into the large bed my Mom once occupied.
After throwing my suitcase to the floor of course.
I had set the balloon beside my side of the bed I had decided to take up, I watched it closely. It didn't even seem to bob up and down lightly, it just- wouldn't move!
I closed my eyes and took a deep breath.
I reached onto the bedside table and grabbed the remote, I pulled it in front of me before opening my eyes and turning on the TV that sat at the front of the room. I flipped through the channels before finding something good to watch.
Spongebob.
Always a good thing to watch when you're afraid. And thank goodness it was the older episodes of the series.
Because the more modern day episodes were complete rubbish.
They made Patrick act like he knew everything, he treated Spongebob like crap and isn't even a good friend.
Along with that, the jokes in the show just went completely downhill and are nowhere near funny anymore.
Ahem.
The newer episodes of the show just infuriated me. But that's besides the point- I'm not here to rant about a kids show.
So I was relieved to find it was the episode of Bubble Buddies' introduction!
I smiled contently and cuddled up into the large blanket.
And soon enough.
Slowly.
I drifted to sleep.

Noli Me Tank in a Mall
Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo are important cultural works that ignited the Philippine Revolution against Spain. They are novels that exposed to the populace the abuses and the injustices of their Spanish colonial rulers, the hypocrisy of their priests, and inherent cruelty of their class structure over the powerless masses. Unfortunately, they rose up in the middle of the Spanish-American War, one which saw Spain lose most of their overseas colonies and decisively end as a World Power. The war ended in the 1898 Treaty of Paris, in which Spain also sold the Philippines to the USA for the sum of twenty million dollars. The revolutionary government was then crushed by the overwhelming military might of the United States and the Philippines turned into a territory. While the Philippines stands as the USA's greatest successes in nation-building, their early occupation left almost one-fifth of the population dead from combat and disease. Jose Rizal was executed by the Spanish long before knowing what might happen to his country. The world presented within The Noli and the El Fili is therefore stuck frozen in time, forever caught in that moment before a Revolution. Now let's see what happens to this nation if we give it the Light Novel treatment and jam the entirety of the Internet into their protagonist's skull and watch him try to fix things with his unfortunate tendency to sound like a supervillain. Updates Mondays and Fridays. Note: The Noli and El Fili have been public domain since 1946. This is completely fair game.
