After a while of searching for a good car to rent, I finally thought more about it. If I rented a car then I would have to return it.

That's pointless.

So I decided to turn around and call a Taxi or something. I waited at the side of the road until I saw my transportation arriving, I stood up and waved my free arm around- as my other hand was taken up by my suitcase.

The yellow car pulled over beside me and waited for me to hop in and adjust.

I slipped into the right side of the back seat and set my suitcase beside me.

I stared out the window as the car pulled out and began driving, I turned my head to see a dark skinned male looking back at me.

"Where're you going?" He asked.

I smiled lightly, "Derry, you know of it?" I asked.

The man quickly nodded. "Oh yeah! Of course! Who doesn't? " he stated and flipped the car around after realizing he was going the wrong way.

He turned around to look at me for a second, "you don't have any kids do you?" He joked. I paused and furrowed my brows, "no?..." I asked.

He turned to face the road once again.

"Kids always disappear there," he began.

"Every few years or whatever... Kids just start disappearing non-stop for an entire year. " he laughed a bit under his breath, I raised an eyebrow.

"How is that funny?" I asked.

The man paused. "Kids like saying it's a clown, " he responded with a small chuckle. I crossed my arms atop my lap and remained silent, I felt sick.

A clown? Killing kids?

That's absolutely terrifying.

After an hour or so, the Taxi finally arrived in Derry. The car stopped at the curb that sat surrounded by store fronts and a Cinéma. I scooted to the left side of the back seat and opened the car door, before I stepped out- I pulled some money from my pocket and handed it to the driver.

I stepped out of the car with my suitcase and shut the door before waving to the driver, "Have a good day!" I pulled a smile onto my face.

The driver pulled out and drove off.

I let out a long sigh and looked around, the town was honestly very beautiful.

Except for the unsettling missing persons papers that scattered the scenery. I shivered at the thought of how afraid those kids must be...

I don't wanna think about them being dead.

I slowly began walking down the sidewalk as I made my way for the house that was left for me.

At one point I almost stopped and entered a Candy store because of my love for sweets but- I can't waste my money.

Maybe I could get a job there?

I was pulled from my thoughts when I entered the more empty part of Derry, where the houses began.

I continued to stroll down the sidewalk with my suitcase in hand and my eyes searching the streets.

Soon enough- finally...

I spotted the old house.

I ran the best I could to the drive-way before walking up the porch steps and arriving at the front door.

I was excited.

And then the wave hit me.

Just a few days ago my Mom and Brother were living happily in this house. And now they'll never step foot in here again.

I swallowed the lump in my throat and kneeled down, I lifted the Mat and pulled the house key out from under it. I unlocked the door and hesitantly swung the white door open, I leaned in and looked around- not daring to actually take a step inside.

I took a long drawn out breath before finally walking inside, I reached behind me and slowly shut the door.

I pursed my lips together and set my baggage down beside the stairs. I began looking around the house, it was exactly as my family had left it.

Now it was my job to keep it this way.

I was used to the run around of the house, so I grabbed hold of my suitcase and set it at the foot of the steps. Once up the flight I made my way to one of the bedrooms, I stopped dead in my tracks when I realized that I had just entered my Mom's room.

I quickly bit down on my bottom lip.

I slowly entered the room and studied it's interior. Momma always did keep the house clean, the room looked good as new.

A weak smile formed across my face as I wandered around the room, remembering the few times I had actually been able to come in this room as a child. It used to be a messier room back then, that was Dad's fault- he was the packrat of the family.

I exited the room and headed to the room across the hall that had a small paper pinned against it, it wrote:

Grayson's room!

I smiled lightly at the obvious mixed writing of Momma and Greyson. I slowly took a step forward and gripped the doorknob, before I could turn the knob I paused.

Should I go in there?

I don't wanna end up crying...

I thought for a moment before finally deciding I would look later, once I had settled in more.

I made my way to the stairs, as the upstairs didn't have anything there except for three bedrooms and a small bathroom.

I walked down the creaky stairs and turned to corner before entering the living room. I made my way over to the wall that held the large flat screen TV, I looked at the many family portraits that engulfed the white wall.

I bit my bottom lip and held a hand over my mouth when I saw one of the only portraits that contained my whole family.

My Dad, my Mom, Grayson, and I.

All together.

I turned away from the photo and stood quietly. Too bad we would never be able to have a picture like that again.

I was pulled out of my thoughts when the loud dinging of the doorbell echoed through the house.

I turned my attention to the direction of the front door, I began towards the door before peeking it open and poking my head through the small opening I had made.

"Hello?" I called.

No one was at the door.

And that's when I realized that beside the door sat a bright red balloon tied onto a small brown box. I raised an eyebrow and stared at the red rubber before looking down at the box, I wasn't completely sure if I should bring it inside or not.

I stepped outside and looked around, no one.

I crossed my arms with a sigh. I was about to walk back inside and discard the box, and then I heard it.

"Wait! Wait!"

I turned around with wide eyes, I then noticed a young man- About the age of twenty, he had scruffy blonde hair and a pair of crystal blue eyes. He also managed to pull off a face of freckles.

I gulped and turned my body to face him.

"Oh thank goodness!" He spoke breathlessly, he walked up the porch steps and picked up the box and red balloon. "Sorry about that, uh- I'm Carter... I wanted to welcome you to Derry and say sorry about your family... " he explained with a small smile.

I furrowed my brows and narrowed my eyes at him. "Oh! Uh... You are the girl who's mom and b-"

I quickly interrupted him.

"Yes! That's me... Y/n, " I sighed with a half smile tugging at my lips.

I decided to be polite. "You can come inside if you want? You seem tired, " I stated. Carter shook his head. "Oh no! You don't have to, I can get home fine-" he tried to protest but I shook my head.

"No, you're my first visitor. I need to have a good first impression, come in." I responded, forcing the most welcoming smile I could muster.

Carter opened his mouth to decline once more, but simply nodded.

"You're too kind," he took a step inside, holding the box and balloon close to him.

I was about to follow him inside, when I was about to turn around I froze. I narrowed my eyes at the entrance to the sewer across the street, it looked almost as if there were two bright orange orbs staring dead at me.

I shivered the unsettling feeling off of my shoulders, and walked inside. Closing the door behind me, and locking it.

Just in case.
