《Malfoy v. Diggory (reader x draco malfoy x cedric diggory x reader love story)》chapter 52

After Cedric and I have our fill of kisses and nuzzles we walk over to one of the couches in the Hufflepuff common room and lace our hands.
We reminisce on fourth year and when we first met in the library. Cedric tells me that from the moment he saw me in the library he knew that someday I'd be his, which makes my heart flutter with complete adoration. He was so certain about me even before he had ever spoken to me.
He guessed in his head when we met, the type of person I'd be and Cedric said all his observations about me were right.
Cedric tells me how heart broken he was when he found out I was officially dating Draco, though he saw it coming. He admitted that he didn't think it would last so long, due to Draco, not me. But once he realized I was all in with Draco he decided to start dating Cho.
He says she was a really sweet girl who clearly liked him and so he decided to go for it.
Once he was through telling me about the goods of his and Cho's relationship I decided I'd ask why he broke up with her, and I could tell he was hesitant to answer me.
"You can tell me Ced," I affirm giving his hand a squeeze.
He clears his throat, his thoughts clearly running amok in his head.
"Well, I realized I really liked Cho and cared for her, but I didn't love her and to be honest there was always a small part of me that believed we would be together—someday—so I had to break up with her. I couldn't in good conscience keep dating her when I knew I wasn't all in and she was."
I avert my eyes away from him, uncertain of what to say.
"Y/n you don't have to feel bad," Cedric says. "I didn't mention your name, but I told her what was necessary, so she knew why I was breaking up with her, but she understood. Cho was glad that I was honest about it. She didn't want either of us wasting our time."
"So you just waited for me this whole time?" I ask.
"When you say it like that you make me sound loony," Cedric laughs.
I smile, "On the contrary, I think it's sweet."
I kiss him, my lips meeting his.
It's crazy to think how throughout the duration of my relationship with Draco he never tried to pursue me. But that's just the kind of person Cedric is, he knew Draco made me happy then, he wouldn't do anything to ruin my happiness. His words not mine.
...
I glance up at the common room clock and see that's almost one in the morning. There was so much unspoken about how Cedric and I felt about each other and tonight, we understood how each of us felt.
We say our goodbyes, both of us clearly not wanting the night to end.
And after about 20 minutes of saying 'goodbye' I finally leave.
Cedric offers to walk me to my room, but I tell him I'll be fine.
I walk down the corridors keeping an eye our for Flitch and Mrs. Norris. I walk close to the pillars that outlined the courtyard incase I needed to hide.
Meow.
Shit shit shit.
I reach out to one of the wide pillars and hide behind it away from the sound of Mrs. Norris's meow. I notice my loud breathing and cover my mouth with my hand trying to steady my breathing. Stop breathing so damn loud!

I close my eyes and take a deep breath before peering out from the side of the pillar.
I jump.
"Thought you could from me did ya?" Filch says in a creepy low tone, as if he were telling me a secret.
Meow.
"Yes yes, we've got her now," he says to his cat still looking at me with his mischievous grin. "Who's your head of house? They'll know what to do about your punishment."
Could he not see my Slytherin robe? Merlin. "Professor Snape."
"Fantastic! Come along, you'll be sure to get the punishment you deserve," Filch says leading the way to Snapes office as Mrs. Norris walks behind me making sure I don't make a run for it.
"Out after curfew, kids," Filch mutters under his breath with disgust.
We walk down the halls to Snapes office with Filch muttering things to himself, at least that's how it seemed. But Mrs. Norris would always meow or purr at his comments like they were having a conversation.
We finally arrive at the entrance of Snapes office and Filch knocks twice with the knocker on the door.
"Got a delincuente here for you!" Filch shouts through the wooden door.
Snape opens the door revealing his study. He quirks an eyebrow when he sees me standing beside Filch.
"Caught her out in the halls past curfew, what do you reckon we do with her?" Filch says eager for my punishment.
Snape taps his chin with his index finger, clearly amused with the situation.
Snape didn't necessarily hate me, but he wasn't fond of me either. And it didn't help that I wasn't cooperative earlier with sharing my Amortentia with the class.
"A shift in the forbidden forest, the good ol' chains and torture...?"
I give Filch an aw-stricken look.
"No no, none of that," Snape says. "A detention will suffice."
You know what maybe Snape isn't so bad, maybe I'll start paying more attention in class and volunteer more.
"For when sir?" Filch asks.
Snape hums, "Let's say 12 pm," he says with a delighted smile.
Git!
I take it back! Snape is a horrible person!
He knew that's when the first Quidditch game of the season was. Gryffindor V. Hufflepuff.
"Perfect," Filch grins with his crooked smile.
"Please escort Ms. Y/l/n to her room, I wouldn't want her to get distracted along the way," Snape says before turning, his cape following behind him as he slams the door on our faces.
"You heard the man! Get marching!"
I roll my eyes crossing my arms. Filch takes too much pleasure in discipling children, it's not normal.
I walk ahead of Filch and his cat by at least 3 feet until I reach the entrance of the Slytherin common room.
"I'm here, I've made it. You can go now," I announce to the two behind me without turning around.
"No no, Mrs. Norris and I will leave once you're in the common room."
I sigh, cursing under my breath.
I mutter the password and walk into the quiet, dimly lit, green common room.
I ascend the stairs up to my room and get ready for bed.
I hadn't realized how tired I was until I laid down and had the warmth of my covers over me. Cedric and I talked for hours and we had learned how much we cared for each other after these last couple years. How am I suppose to tell him I can't make it to his first Quidditch game?

I wake up at around 10 am and stay in bed reading for about an hour before I decide I have to give Cedric some explanation as to why I won't be there at his game.
I hop in the shower and dress cozy in a hoodie and sweats before walking out to the meet Cedric.
As I walk past the courtyard I see Cedric talking to his few of his teammates with the biggest smile on his face.
I smile subconsciously as I observe him from a distance leaning against a column. Cedric notices me and approaches me, his smile still glued to his face.
Cedric wraps me into a tight embrace slightly pulling me off of the ground.
I chuckle, nuzzling my nose into the crook of neck.
"I missed you," Cedric says placing me down onto the ground lacing his fingers with mine.
"What's wrong Y/n?" He asks, his smile faltering.
I sigh, "I can't come to your game today," I respond studying our intertwined hands. "I got caught last night by Filch."
"I knew I should've walked you," Cedric mutters shaking his head.
"No, you shouldn't have," I announce stroking his cheek with my thumb. "You would have missed your first match."
I knew how much he loved playing, I would be so upset with myself if I was the reason why he missed his first match of the season.
"Your punishment just happens to be during my Quidditch game?"
"Unfortunately," I mutter. "Snape's gave me a detention for today knowing I would miss the Quidditch game. But it's fine we'll celebrate together after, we can go to Hogsmeade after."
"Ced don't worry, I'll have plenty of people reporting to me on how well you played," I smile. "And I'll be there at your next match I promise."
I hold his face in my hand kissing his forehead.
I give him a worried look.
"Well, I should get going and you should too. Good luck love," I sing dropping my hands at my side.
Cedrics face slightly lights up and a small smile grows on his face. I knew love would have that affect on him. I didn't want him to be in his head during the game, he needed to play well if he wanted to prove to the team that he was captain material.
"Hogsmeade after ok?" Cedric says and I nod in turn. "I'll give you a recap."
"Perfect," I beam.
Cedric sends me one last smile before I make my way to the Potions classroom.
I haven't ever served detention before and Snape better not have me doing work for him. I just want to sit in silence alone with my thoughts and hear the occasional cheering from the Quidditch field.
I walk into the Potions classroom and see Snape sitting at his desk working on something.
"Have a seat Ms. Y/l/n," he says without looking up from his work.
I choose the seat in the farthest corner, the seat farthest away from him.
Within the first ten seconds of him not saying anything I assume he isn't going to put me to work. So I sit back in my chair crossing my arms.
After about 15 minutes of Snape scraping his quill across several pages he stands from his desk.
"I'll be back, I have an errand to run. You should be exactly as you are when I return," Snape says walking towards the exit.
I hear the door click and let out a sigh. There's not even a clock in this dumb class, Snape took it down after he realized how many kids moon over it during his lecture. He didn't even tell me when my detention ended.
After about another 10 minutes of sitting alone with my thoughts I hear the door click open and don't bother to check.
"Y/n?"
I turn towards the voice, "Draco?"
"What're you doing here?" he asks still standing beside the door.
"Oh just passing the time," I say sarcastically. "Obviously I'm in detention Draco."
"What'd you do? Get caught kissing Diggory in the halls past curfew?" he smirks.
"Shut up," I announce turning back in my chair.
After a moment of silence Draco sighs.
"Go."
"What?" I ask.
"Go! I'll deal with Snape," Draco says averting his eyes from me.
Without another thought I stand walking up to the door, my hand on the knob. I pause looking over at Draco, "Thank you."
I open the door and rush down the halls towards the Quidditch field hoping not to run into Snape.
Why did Draco do that? He has nothing to gain from letting me go, if anything he might get into trouble.
Well whatever his reason was, I was utterly thankful for his existence.
I walk into the clearing standing before the field and the filled stands. I look at the scoreboard and notice each teams score is still fairly low, I couldn't have missed more than 40 minutes. I smile and rush up the stands looking for an empty seat.
I settle in the crowded stands finding a seat on the edge of a bleacher. I study the people around me and realize I'm in the Ravenclaw section. Oh well, what's important is that I'm here for Ced.
...
After an intense 2 hours the game comes to close, Hufflepuff 200, and Gryffindor 100.
The stands erupt in loud cheers and I join them. Cedric caught the snitch, he won it for the team.
Once the stands start to disperse out onto the field I decide to wait in the stands until I see Cedric.
Once I spot him we make eye contact and I wave at him with a smile. Cedric motions with a grin for me to come down and meet him onto the field.
I walk down the stands towards the field and run to meet Cedric who throws his Quidditch bag on the ground catching me in his arms.
"You made it?" he asks gently stroking my hair.
"I made it," I beam kissing his cheek as he puts me down.
"How?" he asks, his smile not faltering.
"A friend," I respond.
I never wanted Draco and I to end on a sour note and what he did for me is what someone would do for a friend.
"Amazing," Cedric says as he studies me.
"Should we get going to Hogsmeade now?" I ask rocking back and forth on my heels.
Cedric tosses his bag over his shoulder and smiles down at my intertwining my hand with his.
Cedric decides not to set his bag down at his room before we head off, so we walk directly to The Three Broomsticks as he fills me in on what I missed.
We walk into a full and loud pub swarming with overly hyped students and Quidditch players.
"Go pick a table. I'll get us our drinks," he says.
I nod and scout an empty booth. I walk towards it and claim it sitting in the red leather booth.
Cedric comes to the table with two butter beers in hand and sets one down in front of me as he sits across from me.
"I'm really glad you were able to make it my game Y/n," he beams.
"Me too Ced."
"How much were you able to catch?" Cedric asks before taking a sip from his drink.
"Almost all of it," I respond. "I just missed the first half hour or so."
"Great," Cedric smiles.
"You're so overly happy Ced," I laugh.
"Why shouldn't I be? I just won my first Quidditch game of the season, got voted team captain and I'm here celebrating with my favorite person."
"You're team captain?!"
"Did I forget to mention?" Cedric jokes with a cheeky smile.
I reach for his hand across the table and hold it in mine grazing the bracelet that I gave him for his birthday last year.
"That's fantastic Ced. I'm so proud, I knew you'd become captain," I smile.
"It's much easier to play when you have someone to play for," he says.
Cedric leans over the table and kisses me.
"Y/n, can I ask you something?" Cedric asks studying out laced hands.
"Anything."
"I know things with us are new and I don't know how you feel, but this is something that I've been waiting for for so long and I don't want to lose you. Not again." Cedric says meeting my eyes. "And frankly I just can't wait any longer," he chuckles.
"Y/n, do you want to be my girlfriend?"
My heart flutters from so much happiness and adoration.
"Yes," I respond with a smile.
Cedric stands to his feet pulling my out of my seat into his arms.
Cedric rests his chin atop my head holding me close, "Wanna get out of here?"
I look up at him and nod.
