《Malfoy v. Diggory (reader x draco malfoy x cedric diggory x reader love story)》chapter 46

The last two weeks of school consisted of the o.w.l.s. Meaning I had a lot of late nights of studying and seldom hours of sleep. I was fairly confident in the extent of my knowledge for each class, but I was always terrible at Potions. My old Potions tutor used to be Draco and he was damn good at it to, but there was no way I was going to ask him for help, so I turned to Luna who happened to be average at it.
Everyone was required to take the o.w.l.s from the seven core classes and then some, depending on the other elective classes you chose. For me that was Muggle Studies, I knew that without a doubt I received an O in that class. Every other class I knew I did decent in, certainly didn't fail any of them.
And luckily that was all behind me now, today was the last day of the year and I was going to rest because I deserved it.
I headed to the great hall for breakfast to meet Blaise, he said he had some thing to discuss with me before the break started.
I got dressed for the day without my robe overshadowing my outfit and sauntered over to the great hall.
---
I spot Blaise at the Slytherin table and join him.
"Hey Y/n."
"Hi."
I serve myself some waffles and strawberries, while Blaise serves himself an omelette with bacon.
"What'd you want to talk about?" I ask slicing up my waffle.
"A couple things, but let's start with an easy one," he responds.
I give him a look already knowing he's going to eventually bring up Cedric.
"There's something you should know and I feel like you should hear it from me rather than someone else," Blaise gulps. "Dracos kind of seeing someone else..."
I gently put my fork down and take a deep breath studying Blaises face, he wasn't joking. "Like seeing some in a serious way or just a fling type of seeing?"
"Well she's been around ever since you guys broke up, so that's like almost 2 months?"
"Oh?" I clear my throat. "Does he seem happy?"
Blaise lets out a brief laugh, "He's not happy, he's managing. I wouldn't be surprised if he keeps her around though. I just thought you should know."
"Thanks."
"Thanks?" Blaise inquires, "Y/n, how do you feel? I just dropped some mad info on you."
I pick my fork back up and stab a strawberry. "I'm h-happy for him. I thought he'd take longer to bounce back, but I'm obviously glad he didn't. Draco's been an annoying pain in the ass as of lately, and I don't want him around me forever. I'm happy." Genuinely I was happy for him. I just hope this girl sticks around and gives him what he needs.
"You don't feel sad?"
I shoot Blaise a look.
"I mean like you're over Draco?" he restates.
"I mean yeah, I sorta have been. Remember when he saw me and Cedric kiss?" Blaise nods. "Well it was an improvised kiss to show Draco that I'm done and have been."
"So the both of you have moved on then?" Blaise asks.
"I have and I hope Draco has too, but I cant speak for him," I respond.
"Smart."
I laugh and continue eating my waffles.

"Onto the next order of business..." Blaise starts, clearing his throat.
I sigh mentally prepping myself for his unrealistic claims.
"Diggory definitely likes you."
I laugh out loud, "It's even sillier when you say the words out loud and no he doesn't."
"Y/n, yes he does!"
"How could you possibly know? It's not like you know him or hangout with him," I interject raising a brow.
"I've heard enough and seen enough to know." Blaise replies. "I mean he kissed you!"
I roll my eyes, "Yes, so that Draco would bugger off. No other reason."
"Fine. Diggory doesn't like you then." Blaise states clearly not believing the words. "But do you like him?"
My fork clatters onto my plate making a loud crash sound. A few heads turn in my direction. I sigh, and go under the table to pick it up.
"Well I guess there's our answer," Blaise announces.
I playfully punch him, harder than usual.
"Ouch!"
"I do not like him. I wouldn't want to do anything to jeopardize our friendship." I respond.
"You wouldn't be jeopardizing anything if he liked you though. Which he does," he mutters the last part to himself.
"He doesn't though." I say feeling done. "Look if this is all we're going to talk about I'm just going to leave."
Blaise sighs, "I think that's a good idea, you could use time to think...about Diggory."
I hit Blaise harder than last time hoping it stung and leave the great hall. As I walk out fuming with anger I run into someone.
I look up and see Cedric, I study his familiar features for a minute instantly easing my mind.
"Y/n you're such a stalker, stop following me," Cedric says pretending to act annoyed.
"Me the stalker?! You're the one I'm always running into," I respond playing along.
We both laugh.
"What're you up to?" Cedric asks.
"Nothing much just finished breakfast with Blaise," I respond.
Cedric hums moving closer and accidentally bushing his hand against mine.
Remembering my last conversation with Blaise I instantly shove my hand into my pocket.
He sends me a confused look, "Does me touching your hand bother you?"
"No it's-"
He cuts me off, "Because if I remember correctly you actually enjoy when I hold your hand."
Cedric circles around me as he observes my mood.
"Does this bother you?" he asks amused as he twirls a strand of my hair in his hand. "What about this?" he asks again, this time bushing his hand gently across the back of my arm.
It did bother me, but in the way I hadn't hoped. His touch sent a flutter of butterflies down to my stomach.
I catch his wrist with my hand and simmer his hand it into my hand. "There happy?" I ask.
"More than you'd know."
I couldn't tell if he was flirting with me or just being his usual social self. Probably the latter.
We walk hand in hand around the castle chatting for a bit until he leads me to the empty Quidditch field. The field was bound to empty since all games were over now. We sat in the middle of the field looking up at the sky observing the abstract clouds.
"Ced look!" I say pointing to a specific cloud, "That one looks like you," It totally didn't, it was just a big blob.

Cedric sends me a grin before playfully tickling me wrapping me in his embrace.
"So weird blob equals Cedric?" He questions.
"Yes, exactly," I respond look up at him with a smile as he holds me in his arms.
After a couple minutes of silence and Cedric still holding onto me I decide to speak.
"Can we hangout this summer?" I ask.
"I was wondering when you'd ask me that," he beams. "But, unfortunately no."
I send him a fake pout.
"I'll be away the whole summer with my father," he sighs. "The ministry has him going out on some special trip and since he'll be gone the for 2 months he insisted on taking me with him."
"No offense Ced, but aren't you old enough to stay home now? You're 17." I respond.
"You'd think so right?" He chuckles. "But my father doesn't want me to be home alone for so long."
Cedric only ever talks of his father, I've never heard him speak about his mother. I wonder what happened. Though he does seem to have a healthy relationship with him.
"So I won't see you for a whole 2 months then?" I ask nervously twirling the pendent around my neck.
"Yes, unfortunately." Cedric responds. "But we can still send letters."
"Yeah, I guess so," I sigh.
I feel Cedric hand brush up against mine as he catches the pendent I've been playing with.
"Wow this is gorgeous, I've never seen you wear it before." Cedric says feeling the pendent.
I chuckle, "I actually wear it all the time," I respond.
"Then how come I've never seen it?"
I shrug, "It's mostly kept tucked under my shirt, it's a bit flashy for school as you can see."
"It really is," he says finally dropping it down to rest around my neck. "Who gave it to you?"
"That's a long story."
"We have time," Cedric responds eagerly.
"A long story I'd rather not talk about," I clarify.
"Oh? That's fine, I don't want to overstep, I was just curious."
I reach up for Cedrics hair behind me without turning around and ruffle it.
I wore the pendent because I felt that if I took it off I would be breaking the one thing Narcissa was proud of me for. It symbolized her gratefulness for me being in her sons life and I was no longer a part of his life. Though I still love and care for him I'm no longer with him. But it held her motherly love and I know that if I gave it back to Draco just like if I would've given him back the ring he would never accept it.
And I wouldn't want him to. I wouldn't want to give him either of those things back because they both hold sentimental value to me. Though I may not be wearing his ring it doesn't mean it isn't a good memory to look back on. It's a reminder of him.
---
I woke up the next day and was suddenly super excited to be going home for the summer. I missed my mom dearly and I know she misses me too. Being alone in that house can get lonely fast.
I got dressed for the long train ride and started packing up my stuff.
"Is this shirt yours or mine?" Luna asks showing me a very bright colorful top.
"Yours," I chuckle.
"I though so."
I shift back to organizing my stuff.
"Y/n, you've been the best roommate ever! I'm super happy you got moved into Hufflepuff." Luna beams as she throws her clothes in her trunk. "Do you think you'll be in Hufflepuff next year?"
I close up my trunk and plop onto my bed facing Luna. "Luna you're the best roommate I've ever had too." I say with a smile. "But with any luck I'll be going back to Slytherin next year. Hufflepuff has been so welcoming to me, but it just doesn't feel like I'm meant to be here."
"Oh, I see," Luna says trying to hide her sadness. "Well, who knows maybe you'll still stay."
I laugh at her optimism.
"Ready to go down to the carriages now?" I ask seeing Luna packing the last of her stuff.
"Ready!"
Luna and I make our way down to the carriages.
Luna gives the two Thestrals a soothing pet before loading onto the carriage. I've never seen death happen before me so I couldn't see the Thestrals. The only people I knew who could were Luna. We load onto the carriage with Ron, Hermione and Harry.
Once the carriages drop us off at close proximity to the Hogwarts express we hop off and load onto the train. The five of us find a compartment in which Cedric is already in and decide to settle there with him.
Luna settles next to Cedric who's seated by the window. Hermione follows next to Luna. Harry sits on the opposing side by the window I follow next and Ron after me, leaving me in-between them both.
I send Cedric a small smile which he returns.
As the train starts to move we start chatting.
"Cedric convince Y/n to stay in Hufflepuff with us," Luna announces, clearly regretting having ratted me out, it was just bit out of character for her.
Everyone looks at me in surprise.
"Y/n don't you like being in Hufflepuff?" Hermione asks.
Ron and Harry were taken aback, but didn't want to start anything so they decided to stay out of it.
"I do. I just need to get back to Slytherin." I respond tired of trying to justify why I should go back.
"Well I think it's a good idea," Ced announces. "You've never been much of a Hufflepuff anyway," he says with a wink.
"Thanks Ced." I say with a slight blush. "Looks like you're out numbered Luna, sorry."
"Well I guess it's not all bad," she responds. "I wonder who my new roommate will be!"
"How'd you like DADA with us this year?" Ron asks changing the subject leaning over to rest his elbows on his knees so he could see me.
"I loved it! You guys are great company, I'm glad Luna introduced me to you guys this year."
"Us as well," Hermione chimes.
The conversation lifts off into Quidditch which causes a lot of bickering between everyone, I would've chimed in as well except I was far too tired to think. I had to wake up earlier then usual to board the train today and I didn't necessarily go to sleep early last night either.
Not wanting to interrupt the whole conversation I whisper into Harrys ear and he nods gladly welcoming it.
"Thanks," I mutter back.
I rest my head on Harrys shoulder meaning he had to slump down a bit for me to reach it. And maybe it was just my imagination, but from the looks of it I could see a flash of jealousy on Cedrics face.
