《Malfoy v. Diggory (reader x draco malfoy x cedric diggory x reader love story)》chapter 41

Since today is a Saturday Blaise and I decided we would hangout, just the two of us.
I waltz down to the Slytherin common room and meet Blaise.
"Ready bestie?" I ask with a grin.
He smiles and walks over to the common room door holding it open for me.
We walk side by side down to Hogsmeade. With spring approaching it hardly snows any more though it is still freezing out. The snow has been exchanged for hard and loud rain, though it mostly only rains at night.
I glance over at Blaise trying to get a feel of his mood and whether it is an ice cream kind of day or a butterbeer kind of day.
"Ice cream?" I ask him as we approach Hogsmeade.
He nods.
We make small talk on our way to Piffys Ice Cream Shop. Blaise orders his usual mint chip and I order my go flavor as well. We decidedly make our way to a small pond not that far off from where we stand, but nonetheless very secluded. We take a seat at the only small bench that surrounds the pond.
As I take a scoop of ice cream from the small cardboard cup I observe Blaise. He seems a bit quiet, more than usual.
"Alright Blaise?" I ask.
He looks up from ice cream to the pond.
"Yeah" he snorts as if it were obvious.
I raise a brow.
"No you're not, what's up? Wait no let me guess!" I exclaim. "You're nervous about your date with Daphne."
"How'd you-"
I give him a knowing look.
"Draco" I chirp.
Blaise glares up at me.
"But that's besides the point," I smile weakly. "What're you nervous about anyway, you're great! She'll love you and if she doesn't... well if she doesn't, she is crazy."
Blaise lets out a barking laugh.
We sit there in the peacefulness of the bond and the few ducks quacking. I take out my wand and transfigure my ice cream spoon into a slice of bread. Blaise and I throw small pebbles of bread at the ducks.
Soon all of the small ducks waddle with their webbed feet over to us and start quacking angrily once we had no more bead to give.
"What now?" I ask Blaise as I cower away from the ducks.
"Blaise?"
I turn beside me and see that Blaise has already left the soon to be murder scene. Wanker.
I jump off the bench and pretend to grab a slice of bread from behind me and chuck it towards the pond. The little ducks wobble over to the false slice of bread as I run back to Hogsmeades main street .
"About time y/n, was beginning to think the ducks got to you" Blaise announces with a laugh as I join his side.
I slap Blaises arm.
"Git" I playfully tease.
We make our way back to the castle and instead of heading back to my dorm I decide to give Draco a visit and address the whole hide and seek situation that involved Cedric and I.
Luckily the whole school wasn't raving about it though I did get a lot of glares when I would walk down the halls with Cedric. Some people even had the audacity to approach me and ask if it was true that Cedric and I were shagging. The nerve. Though when this did happen Cedric was almost always there and immediately shot down their suspicions. Honestly, all it takes is one person seeing two people come out of the classroom past curfew for people to think your shagging. Ok, in hindsight, I guess I could see how the dots would connect.

I hope no ones gotten to Draco yet.
I wave goodbye to Blaise as I head up the stairs in the Slytherin commons that lead up to the boys dormitories.
I walk into Dracos dorm and find him in his bed leaned up against the headboard reading a book.
The room is calm and peaceful and here I am about to fill it up with tension and Draco well... anger undoubtedly.
Draco peeks from the side of the book and curls his lip before resuming his book.
I take a seat in the desk chair, turning it so that it's facing Draco.
"What's up?" Draco questions placing his book down.
I let out a sigh. "Nothing really just a silly rumor. I figured I'd address it, I wouldn't want you to hear it from anyone else." I say with a small smile.
Draco hops off his bed, landing on his two feet and walks around to the other side of the room, opposite from me, crossing his arms as he does so.
"You mean the one about you and Diggory," he says in a knowing tone.
As soon as those words leave his mouth I feel a sudden thud in the pit of my stomach. I immediately stand up, standing behind the chair.
"Oh don't be so surprised y/n. I have eyes and ears everywhere," he scoffs.
"I will say though, I didn't expect you to be shagging his sorry ass. It's no matter, he'll be sure to keep his distance now." Draco announces looking over at me.
I ball my hands up into fists, charging over to him, merrily inches away from his face.
"What. The. Hell. Do. You. Mean. He'll. Be. Sure. To. Keep. His. Distance." I fume at him. "Tell me you did not actually believe such a stupid rumor Draco."
Draco takes another step towards me.
"I would be stupid not to" he seethes.
I take a step back, looking at him bewildered.
"You're constantly with him, he's more accessible to you, you're both in the same house-"
I scoff as I come to sudden realization.
"Draco do you trust me?" I ask tilting my head.
Silence.
"Do you trust me?!" I reiterate with a shout. "Do you actually believe that I shagged Cedric while I was in a relationship with you?"
Draco lifts his eyes off of mine and looks down.
Nothing.
"I can't believe this," I scoff.
I appraise him once more in utter disappointment before walking out.
Draco actually believed the fucking rumor. That's not even what's the most upsetting part of it all though, the fact that he doesn't trust me is. Did he ever trust me? I scoff. I can't think about this right now, I need to find Cedric make sure he's ok. No doubt Draco threatened him.
I angrily rush down the halls until I arrive at the Hufflepuff commons. I waste no time and decide to just announce to the whole common room if they've seen Cedric. Nothing. Shit.
I would like to believe that Cedric would have came to see me if Draco approached him, but he didn't. That's not like him.
I scan some more common places where I think he could be and just like the common room, nothing.
I almost give up and just go ask Draco to see what he did to him. But then it hit me. Was Draco actually capable of hurting Cedric? No, he couldn't, he knows how much he means to me. He wouldn't.
Fuck. Would he?
Before I allow myself to dwell on it any longer I make my way to the hospital ward. I walk into the room and past the privacy curtains.

My eyes widen at the sight of seeing Cedric.
I immediately feel tears start to prick at my eyes.
Cedric sends me a weak smile from the hospital bed while Madam Pomfrey fits his left arm in order to place it in a cloth sling. I slowly approach him holding back my tears and the closer I get the more visible his bruising and injuries are. They are fresh. This couldn't have happened more than 20 minutes ago.
I patiently waited by his side forcing myself to swallow the huge lump in my throat as he got patched up. Madam Pomfrey cast a few healing spells over the bruises and cuts on his face. She then instructs Cedric to lift his shirt so she could heal the bruising on his abdomen as well. I quickly turned away, there were so many purple and green splotches on the right side of his body.
When I went to see Draco he had nothing on him. Probably casted his own healing spells, he is fairly good at wand work. Not to mention he is always covering the majority of his body with his clothing anyway. Unless Cedric didn't fight back, though he would be well within his rights to do so.
"Alright dear, we're all done here." Pomfrey announces to Cedric. "Wear the sling until our next checkup and I'll see if your good to take it off by then. You're free to go once I come back with some potions to help ease the pain" she says.
Once Pomfrey whisks away to fetch the potions I take a seat next to Cedric on the hospital bed.
"What happened Ced?" I ask, knitting my brows in worry.
"Take a guess y/n" he sighs.
"I won't. I need to hear that this actually happened." I affirm.
"I'll spare you the details then, all you need to know is that Draco came at me," Cedric says looking down at his arm that now rests in a sling. "I'm not trying to play the victim card or trying to sway you away from him by telling you this y/n. I just think it's important for you to know who you're dating."
"Do you believe me?" he asks looking up at me.
I reach for his free hand and place it mine. It's clear his knuckles were wounded badly with all the cuts he had that were now scabbing over. He clearly did fight back.
"It would be foolish of me to say yes without confirming it from Draco. But he did imply at something like this." I respond.
I couldn't straight a way take Cedrics side and believe his word over Dracos. That would be hypocritical of me. And something deep inside of me really wanted to believe the Draco didn't do this, that he wasn't capable of doing such a thing.
"I see." Cedric replies.
Madame Pomfrey walks back into the room and hands Cedric a green-yellow potion for him to drink in order to ease the pain. Cedric hesitantly reaches for it and drinks it, forcefully holding it down.
"You're free to go now!" Madame Pomfrey announces with a slight smile.
"I'll meet you back in the commons," Cedric says to me as he stands up from the hospital bed.
---
After going to check on Cedric in the hospital ward I make my way back up to the Slytherin commons in search of Draco. But rather than finding Draco I bump into Blaise who's seated beside the common room fire catching up on some work.
"Where's Draco?" I ask Blaise.
And soon after realizing my tone I instantly wish I would've started off the conversation differently. It wasn't Blaises fault all this was happening.
"Er-um sorry, I don't mean to be rude Blaise, but have you seen Draco?" I rephrase looking at him still standing bedside the door.
Blaise clears his throat.
"Yeah, Quidditch field," he responds.
"Thanks," I say before turning back.
"Hey y/n?" I hear him call out.
I turn back.
"I'm sorry," he says in a genuine tone.
I give him a weak smile before heading out to the field. My instincts kept pecking at me telling me that Blaise might've had something to do with this and that's why he hungout with me this morning. But I knew better than that, Blaise would never do such a thing. He wouldn't distract me with a fake outing while he knew Draco would allegedly start something up with Cedric. That just wasn't Blaise. Ugh I hated myself for even thinking that.
I walk onto the Quidditch field and look for Draco. I look up and see a pale white-blonde haired boy riding his broom. He no doubt could sit still while I went looking for Cedric to see what he had to say. Draco quickly notices my presence and makes his way down to the field dismounting his broom as he approaches me.
"Did you instigate a fight with Cedric, Draco?" I ask, feeling my lower lip start to quiver.
Please say no.
Please say no.
"I-" he sighs looking around the field before fixing his gaze back onto me. "I did."
"Fuck Draco!" I shout. "Why?!"
"The rumors, they were starting to get to me and...I should've came to you first-"
For the second time today I tried my best to hold back my tears.
"You really should've. Not that it was even believable." I scoff. "How'd you find out?"
I hated that I had to say it like it was some big secret, something that I was keeping from him because I wasn't. And never did I think he would take someone else's word for it over mine.
"It doesn't matter who told me y/n" he affirms, reaching for my arm. "I'm sorry."
Sorry. Sorry, wasn't going to cut it this time, he didn't just hurt me he hurt one of my best friends, physically. I don't know how I want us to proceed after this, or if we even can- I don't want to lose Draco, he isn't just a boyfriend, he's my best friend. We've been friends since first year. I can't just walk away from him and end it all in one night, i-it's...too much. I'm not ready to lose both my boyfriend and best friend, but I can't permit for something like this to happen and just turn a blind eye.
I grab his wrist and place his hand off my arm. "D-Draco...we need to spend time apart" I say softly allowing my voice to crack at the end.
"What do you mean Y/n?" Draco asks inching closer.
"I mean we should take a break." As soon as the words leave my mouth I feel a tear stream down my cheek.
I restrain my sobs only allowing myself to shed that tear in front of him. I glance at him once more before heading back to my Hufflepuff dorm.
Thankfully Luna was out so I wouldn't have to burden her with my clustered thoughts and sobs. I let myself fall against the wall down onto the floor and burry my hand in my face as I cry. I had really hoped that Draco wasn't capable of hurting Cedric, that he wouldn't dare lay a finger on my friends out of sheer dumbness and jealousy. But even then, I think the issue was bigger than that, something I didn't want to admit to myself, something I wouldn't. I just need time to think things through.
