《Malfoy v. Diggory (reader x draco malfoy x cedric diggory x reader love story)》chapter 39

Today's the first day back from Christmas break. On the train ride back to Hogwarts I talked to Draco about how things were going to go back to the way they were before the whole Harry incident. I'd go back to Hufflepuff and stay there like how I should until we find out who or what is behind this whole house switching thing. Of course, Draco asked why I couldn't just keep doing what I was doing and stay in his room at night, but after a lot of talking and me getting annoyed at Draco, he eventually agreed.
I also told Blaise that we wouldn't be seeing each other as often too and unlike Draco he didn't ask any questions. Blaise felt I'd be a Slytherin again soon. I hope he's right, I miss being a Slytherin.
---
I made my way over to the first class of the day after having breakfast with Luna. I only had two classes today: DADA and Charms, should be a breezy first day back. I walk into DADA just in time before the bell rings and take my seat with the golden trio.
"Excited for the first day back y/n?" Hermione asks as she smooths down her blank parchment.
"Course she's not excited" Ron interrupts, "we're at school."
Harry and I laugh at Rons response.
Hermione rolls her eyes, "Well I'm excited" she responds in a spiffy voice.
DADA was just another casual class, Professor Lupin made sure to keep it short and simple today.
After DADA I wave goodbye to my friends and walk over to my next and last class of the day, Charms.
"Hey Blaise" I announce as I take as seat next to him.
"Hey y/n," he responds. "how has your first day back been?"
I shrug, "Alright, DADA was short and sweet-"
"Yeah well don't worry, Flitwick will make sure to give us enough work for two classes."
"Good Afternoon all" Professor Flitwick announces to the class. "Today, we will be learning some new spells, please go ahead and get reading on chapter 10 of Chadwicks Spells, and be sure to pay attention because there will be homework on it."
The class groans, but obediently opens up their textbooks.
"$20 for the homework?" Blaise whispers to me.
I roll my eyes, turning to Blaise who has a fake pout on his lips. "Fine, but just today Blaise."
---
After Charms I walk over to the library to meet up with a couple friends. I walk in and wave to my group of friends as I go join them.
"Hey y/n" Cedric greets looking up from his work.
Harry and Ron greet me with a smile.
"Where's Hermione and Luna?" I ask, taking out my charms textbook and two pieces of parchment, one for my work and one for Blaise.
"We tried to reach out to Luna, but we couldn't find her" Ron says.
"And well you know Hermione, she likes to study on her own" Harry murmurs.
Ced turns to me, "What're you working on y/n?"
"Charms" I say holding up my assignment.
"Let me know if you need help, I'm here" Cedric says with a small smile.
"Thanks." I murmur. Though, I'd rather he weren't an accomplice to my rule breaking.
After about an hour of working together at the library, Ron and Harry leave, leaving just me and Cedric.
"Just about done there Ced?"
"Not necessarily" he responds still writing on his ink filled parchment, "Still have about another hour here, but looks like you're done" he says eyeing my empty workspace. "You're free to leave if you'd like."

"I'm in no rush, I'll wait for you" I smile. "I'll just go get a book to occupy myself."
Cedric smiles at me before returning back to his work.
I leave the table and roam around the library, seems like everyones in here getting their work done today, I observe as I walk across the library. I search the bookshelves for a book that might peak my interest. Eventually, I stumble upon Hogwarts A History and remember that this is the book that Hermione is always raving about. It honestly just looks like a big history book, but it might be interesting. I take the book back to the table where Ced is working and begin reading.
---
"Alright!" Ced announces.
"Shhh" I whisper to Ced, hoping the librarian didn't hear him.
"Oh, sorry, I forgot where we were," he chuckles quietly. "I'm done now, we can get going."
I close the book that I was reading and grab my bag, Cedric does the same.
"Here I can take it back" Cedric says putting out his hand for my book.
"It's alright Ced" I smile, "I can do it. Meet me outside, yeah?"
He nods and throws his bag over his shoulder heading for the entrance of the library.
I quickly return the Hogwarts A History back on the shelf where I had found it. Hermione was right, it was fairly interesting. Ron and Harry should read it before they tease her about it, I huff.
I meet Cedric at the entrance as we walk out of the library.
"Lunch?" Cedric asks turning to me.
"Yes" I announce, "I'm starved."
---
We arrive at the great hall and I instantly spot Draco sitting at the Slytherin table.
"Come find me after lunch," Cedric announces, "go and eat with Draco" he says nudging my back.
I laugh, "Thanks, I'll see you later."
I approach Draco and take a seat in front of him.
"Hey!" I greet him, "how was your first day back?"
I grab a lamb chops and some potatoes and place them onto my plate.
"Fine, nothing special happened. And you?" Draco asks taking a stab at his carrot.
"Great! Glad to be back" I beam, carving out a chunk of meat from my lamb chop.
"Nice."
At lunch I tell Draco about the gift his mum bought for me at Christmas. At first he was confused as to why she would buy me something and not present it to me while I was with Draco. I then teased that he was taking too long in the bathroom, he simply laughed in response and didn't question it any further. I didn't want to tell him the real reason because he wouldn't really care, so I thought a laugh is better than just awkward silence.
"You should thank your mom for the kind gesture" I suggest while twirling the green pendant in my fingers.
"Maybe" he hums playfully, "I'll think about it."
"Draco!"
"Alright alright" he laughs.
"So are you still coming over later" Draco asks, taking a sip from his drink.
"Still?" I question, furrowing my brows. "Draco, we never made plans to in the first place, love."
"Could've sworn we did" he reflects, "Well, just come over anyway. It's not like you have anything else going on" he teases.
"Well I wanted to spend tonight with my friends Draco, you and I have to be apart sometimes you know" I shrug. "It's healthy."

"Healthy? Says who?" he argues.
"Says me." I announce crossing my arms. "Hangout with Blaise tonight, I'll be yours tomorrow, ok?" I say standing up from my seat to join his side and kiss him. I reach for my bag and pull out a Charms notebook that contains Blaises work. "Here give this to Blaise" I say to Draco placing the notebook by him on the table. "And tell him to keep his $20."
"Keep his twenty?" Draco laughs. "You want me to take the textbook and everything?" he questions.
"Yeah, it'll look weird if you just walk out with a single piece of parchment, best take the textbook too" I reply. "I'll see you tomorrow ok?" I say standing up with my bag in hand.
Draco nods, "See you tomorrow."
"Wait-"
Draco glides out from his seat and pulls me into a kiss. "Now you can go" he smirks down at me.
---
After lunch I head over to the Hufflepuff commons hoping to see Cedric there. And luckily I do.
I approach him and take a seat in the yellow arm chair, adjacent to him. Cedric looks up from his book sensing my presence.
"Can I help you?" Cedric asks in a playful tone.
"Oh shove off," I giggle, "you said you had something to tell me."
"Oh yeah, I guess so huh?" he teases. I playfully slap his arm. "Ok ok, we're all going to play hide and seek tonight after curfew, you in?"
I gasp bringing my hand up to my mouth, "Cedric Diggory willingly breaking the rules?!"
"Oh come off it" Cedric laughs, "It's more exciting when you have the fear of getting caught" he winks.
"Alright I'm in."
"Good," he grins, "see you tonight then."
---
Later that night...
I made sure to set an alarm so that I would wake up on time and not sleep through the game. I must've only been asleep for a couple of hours before my alarm went off. I rub my eyes, tumbling out of bed. I stumble over to Lunas bed and gently shake her, "Luna, it's time" I mutter. I walk over the bathroom that's connected to our room and splash some water on my face, to wake myself up. I gently dry my face and walk back into the bedroom.
"Hello y/n" Luna yawns, passing me to go into the bathroom.
I move over to my dresser and pull out Dracos quidditch jumper to put over my shirt. I leave my joggers on and sit on the bed waiting for Luna.
"Ready!" Luna beams with a new spark of energy opening the door. "Y/n, are you sure you're awake? You still look like a zombie". She pulls out a couple of wrapped candies from her crossbody bag. "Here have one" she says placing a two red squares in my palm.
"Thanks" I mutter, placing the fruity candies in my mouth.
"Better?"
"Loads" I laugh quietly, "What's in it?" I ask standing up from my bed.
"Caffeine of course! I always pop a couple in the morning, and sometimes when I have to stay up a study too." She smiles, "Now come on!" Luna grabs my hand and pulls me out of our dorm and down the stairs to meet the rest of our friends.
As Luna drags me down the stairs I see Cedric waiting by himself in the center of the commons. Luna and I reach the bottom of the stairs and I instantly walk over to Cedric with a smile on my face, wrapping him in a warm embrace.
"Whats this for?" Cedric chuckles, wrapping his arms around me as well.
I pull away just enough to see his face. "You looked like a cold penguin just waiting here by yourself." I respond, pulling away completely.
Cedric laughs, "Lets go" he says linking my arm with his. "Wait where's Luna?" he announces scanning the common room.
"Right here!" Luna jumps out from behind a wooden pillar. "Thought I heard those darn Nargles, but I couldn't find them. Let's go!" Luna announces to us as she skips in front of us.
We all walk over to the Gryffindor tower making sure to not make much noise as we don't want to get caught by Filch or Mrs. Norris. We arrive outside tower and see Harry waiting for us outside in his jacket.
"Hey guys" Harry greets us. We all smile up at him. Harry mutters the password to the portrait allowing us all access to come into the Gryffindor common room. As soon as we walk in we see an empty common room with only Hermione and Ron who're chatting next to the fireplace.
"You guys made it!" Ron blurts with a wide grin.
"Of course! We wouldn't miss it. Have you guys done this before?" I ask .
Hermione responds eagerly, "Only one other time, we felt guilty playing without you though."
I nod.
"Honestly I'm a little surprised you agreed to this Hermione. You know this isn't very scholarly." I tease.
Hermione giggles, "I'm well aware of that Y/n. It's just such a rush!"
"Alright alright enough chitchat, let's get started" Ron asserts calming down the quiet chatter in the room.
Cedric chimes in, "Partners or no partners?"
Hermione votes no for partners claiming every man for themselves, but the rest of us said partners so we started grouping up. And before I could ask Luna to be my buddy Cedric asks me to be his partner. And of course I couldn't say no, I happily obliged. The rest of the buddies appointed were: Luna and Harry, Ron and Hermione.
"You better not slow me down Ron, because I will drop you if need be" Hermione announces crossing her arms.
Ron scoffs, "Hermione you can't even keep up."
"Well you-"
"Ok ok, that's enough" Harry says mediating the two, "We actually want to have time to play the game you two."
Hermione rolls her eyes averting her gaze from Ron.
"Ok, so who's it?" Luna chimes.
"NOT IT!" we all shout in unison. Except for Hermione.
"Really Hermione?" Ron bickers.
"I didn't know!"
"Bloody hell" Ron mutters under his breath.
Ron and Hermione stay in the common to count by the warmth of the fire.
The hiders vacate the common room and run to their destination.
Separating ourselves from Luna and Harry, Cedric and I begin to jog down the hall, "Where do you want to hide?" he asks turning to me.
"Follow me" I announce leading us into the courtyard. We finally stop running and look around the courtyard for a good hiding spot as we catch our breath.
"Y/n, there's nowhere to hide here unless you want to climb up into the trees" Cedric laughs.
"READY OR NOT HERE WE COME!" Ron shouts. Immediately after this I hear Hermione slap his arm, reminding him to be quiet since we're not suppose to be out.
Shit. We can't just stay out here in the open, I look around trying to come up with a new hiding place. Cedric does the same.
"Come on Ced" I whisper shout, grabbing his arm. We swiftly leave the courtyard and crouch down behind the pillars as we keep walking down the hall. I lead the way still holding onto Cedrics arm and look around once more before trying the Muggle Studies door. Thank Merlin! It's unlocked, I would've been able to use my wand if it were locked, except we weren't allowed to bring them. Hermione and I feared someone might use it to their advantage.
I pull us into the classroom, where there is no source of light in the room except for the moon that's shinning in through the window. Cedric slouches down against the wall onto the floor, he gently pulls on my sweater gesturing for me to join him.
I glide down onto the ground next to him. "You think they'll find them first?" I ask.
"Dunno" Cedric laughs, "hopefully."
After a couple seconds of silence, "Remember that one night, when we came here to-"
"-to watch a movie, The Breakfast Club. You said it was your favorite" he chuckles, finishing my sentence.
I smile at him. "Yeah, exactly."
"We should do that again sometime" Cedric says, resting his head on my shoulder.
"We should." I mumble.
...
We stay like that for a couple of minutes in silence, but not an awkward silence, it was comfortable. After a couple more minutes I start to feel Lunas caffeinated candies give out. Shit.
"What's taking them so long?" I ask out loud.
No response.
I could only hear Cedric quietly inhale and exhale through his nose as he laid his head upon my shoulder. "Ced?" I whisper. Nothing. He must've fallen asleep. I decided to wait a bit longer to see if Hermione or Ron would show up to find us, but as I was waiting for them I felt my eyelids grow heavier. My thoughts and senses started getting fuzzy and weak, my head gives out and starts to feel heavier as well, so I decide to rest it atop of Cedrics who's still resting on my shoulder. I'll just rest my eyes for a bit until they find us.

Eight Years Ago"Mom.." I say with a small smile on my face.My sister had passed her first music lesson and we're all so proud of her."What is it Layla!? can't you see I'm busy?!" She snaps."Oh.." I say, my smile faltering slightly, as I watch mom cuddle Heidi and give her lots of sweets as reward."C-can I have a sweetie too?" I ask.Mom laughs coldly. "Why should you? You've never achieved anything, have you?! Lazy little brat." Heidi giggles and I look at her to see a smirk on her face, making my face fall. I watch mom whisper things to Heidi, making her giggle even more. The door swings open, and my dad walks in.I smile again, running to him and hug his knees but he just brushes me off with an annoyed expression, walking towards my mom hugging her and ruffling Heidi's hair. What's going on?"Dad..ruffle my hair too?" I ask hesitantly. All three of them burst out laughing and I sink down in embarassment."Layla, we always knew you weren't the brightest kid here." He laughs "I just knew you'd be a screw up, right Luise?" He says and she nods."And I was right. You're a failure" He grabs my maths sheet, crumples it up and throws it at me. "You spend way too much time with your 'friends' never on your education, you ungrateful little brat. We should've got rid of you as soon as we found out you were on the way." He spits out spitefully as my mum nods, still smirking."Dad I'll do better, I promise!"I sob, tears streaming down my face, but he shakes his head, smirking. I look at my sister and walk towards her giving her a watery smile."H-Heidi... we're still friends right?" I ask, desperately. Her smirk slowly vanishes. she leans forward and I thought she'd hug me, but instead she pulls my hair and pushes me onto the floor making me scream. She laughs, my parents joining her."Stupid" she hisses, kicking me, before going to my parents, all of them walking out, leaving me on the floor, crying my eyes out. What have I done to deserve this?
