“Thank you so much JJ” Stella said as she hugged Jayson and forced a smile at Kate. It was now three days later and Stella had taken her leave even though reluctantly.

“Call us if you need anything or just want to talk” Jayson said as he pulled Kate closer to his side.

Stella had noticed and it sickened her to her core that Jay and Kate moved around each other as if they knew exactly where the other person was. Jayson always was either holding her hand or caressing her arm. Stella wanted nothing but to throw Kate down from this stupid 60th floor penthouse.

Stella nodded and left. She had to move her plans along quickly. She couldn’t just keep on deflecting his proposal. She had to get Kate out of his life and fast.

Jayson closed the door and turned around to face Kate. It had been a busy last three days. Stella had taken it bad and usually had nightmares and Jay spent most of the time with her. He stayed back at home with Stella while Kate had to go to her job. Jay felt as if Stella was not comfortable around Kate but he let it go. He was exhausted due to lack of proper sleep. It was now past mid afternoon. Stella had left after lunch.

“I am dead beat” Jayson said as he plopped down on the sofa and leaned his head back. Kate came and stood between his legs and rested his head against her stomach and started kneading his neck muscles. It felt so damn good that Jayson groaned out loud.

“Kate…” Jayson said in a pained voice. It was bad enough that it has been a month since he and Kate shared any physical intimacy except for the occasional kiss and there was still two more months to go and now with his head against her soft skin, her fragrance playing with his senses and her soft hands working wonder on his neck muscles wasn’t helping. There were only so many cold showers a man could take.

Kate pulled back and looked down at Jayson. His eyes were dilated and his green eyes were almost lush green now. Jayson abruptly stood up, nearly knocking Kate back. He grabbed her last minute and placed a haste kiss on her forehead and went upstairs.

After sweating in the gym for two hours and a cold shower later he felt somewhat composed. He came out in the bedroom with a towel wrapped around his waist and Kate nearly swooned.

If Jayson had it bad, Kate didn’t have it any easier. Her boyfriend was too sexy for his own good. Right now his well defined Pecs and abs were on display, glistening with water droplets. Jayson looked at Kate staring at him with her book forgotten in her hands. Jay held Kate’s gaze as he took another towel and dried his hair.

Kate watched as his biceps bulged with that movement. Memories of the moments when those arms had easily lifted her and ravished her flashed across her eyes and her entire body came alive.

Jayson cleared his throat and went into their walk in closet. With his head clouded with lust he pulled open the top most drawer when his own boxers were in the second one and he came in view with Kate’s lacy lingerie. Jayson cursed and slammed the drawer shut. He grabbed a pair of boxers and shirt and stormed out of the room.

He went into the guestroom and put on his clothes. He then padded barefoot to the kitchen and grabbed two bottle of beers and went into the living room, turning on the TV. Damn, only if that woman knew what he wanted to do to her. One look from her and his entire body was on fire. The two hours in the gym and cold shower went to waste.

Just as he was halfway through his second bottle of beer, Kate came into the living room. She smiled shyly at Jay and sat down across from him. Jay looked at her as she got comfortable across from him.

“Are you doing this on purpose?” Jay asked raising his eyebrow at her as he pointed his beer bottle at her. She was wearing short shorts with a skimpy tank top and her perfect legs were on display as she kept her legs on the ottoman.

“Maybe” Kate said as she smiled again and blushed.

“Katherine, there is only so much patience I have.” Jayson said in a low voice.

Kate got up from her seat and sauntered towards him.

“Come on bad boy let’s go to bed. You are too exhausted from lack of sleep.”

Jayson wanted to rip his hair out but he complied and followed Kate back to bed to .

“Okay thank you Mr. Barnes. I will owe you one after this.” Jayson smiled as he hung up the phone with a lengthy yet fruitful conversation with the director of museum where Kate worked.

Jayson was able to get a section of the museum, the one with Kate’s favorite art pieces on display for three hours.

He had dinner set up there. The previous plan to propose hadn’t turned out as he planned but this time he was adamant to get his ring on her finger.

Jayson walked into his closet and grabbed the ring from the locker and placed it in the pocket of the suit jacket he was going to wear tonight.

Kate had taken off from work today so she wouldn’t be suspicious of the event about to take place at her workplace as his mother had insisted on an “emergency shopping trip”. Yes his mother sometimes did have flair for drama. Kate would now be home any minute and then they would head over to the museum. He had only told her that he wanted to take her out for a simple dinner.

Jayson smiled imagining her surprise.

He then shed off his suit he wore to office today and decided to shave before shower as his stubble was now more than just a five o clock shadow.

“Hurry up you idiot” Stella yelled as she watched the man mangle up her BMW. He had clubbed in the bumper and busted the headlights.

The car was rammed up against the tree though not with force hence the guy was giving it finishing touch ups.

“Let the air bags loose” Stella said and the guy did as said.

“Here” Stella handed him the money. The guy nodded as he got in his car and drove away. Stella looked around and saw that his car was the only one for miles away. She had come out on a small road that leads out from New York City. It was completely deserted as most people preferred using the highway.

Stella winced at the aspect of what she was about to do next but she had to. She still wasn’t able to plan out how to take Kate out of his JJ’s life but she knew he was going to propose again tonight.

Stella took in a deep breath, pulled her head back and then smacked it into the tree with full force. She screamed out in pain at the impact. She touched her face and felt a cut on her left cheekbone along with a busted lip. It was also going to bruise over.

She then hurriedly got in the car and clicked on the seat belt. Stella took out her phone and dialed Jayson’s number.

Jayson waited in the living room with a glass of wine as he waited for Kate to finish up getting ready. His mother knew he was going to propose so she had helped Kate pick a new dress.

His phone vibrated in his pant pocket and Jayson pulled it out to see Stella’s number flashing on his screen. He frowned but swiped the screen to answer.

“Hey Stella”

“Jayson! oh thank god! you answered. I have called daddy so many times but no one is answering.” Stella choked out. Jayson could hear the fear in her voice.

“What happened Stella are you okay?”

“I don’t know JJ. It all hurts. My car crashed and now it pains.” Stella wailed.

“Listen to me Stella. Whatsapp me your location right now. Can you do that?” Jayson hoped she could.

“Whatsapp. Yes I will.”

“Keep still and try to focus on something Stella. I will be there as soon as I can” Jayson hung up the phone and turned on the Whatsapp app. A minute later Stella’s message popped up on his screen. She was on the Creek Road, leading out of NYC. What was she doing there as Jayson thought as she called out to Kate.

Kate came at the top of the stairs and Jayson’s breath was knocked out his body. Kate was wearing a red colored dress that was figure hugging till the waist and then flared out all the way to her ankle with a thigh high slit on her left side. She was wearing sky high golden heels.

Jayson broke out of the daze and picked up his jaw from the floor.

“Listen love I will be back as soon as I can. Stella just had a car accident. I am going to get the ambulance and her parents there and I will be back.”

Kate simply nodded and gestured with her hands for him to go fast.

Jayson rushed to his car and called an ambulance, giving them the details and then called Mr. Campbell, a man he kept his distance from but right now personal differences could wait.

He informed Mr. Campbell and the man said he would be right there.

When Jayson reached the spot of accident, ambulance and paramedics were already there. Jayson rushed to Stella’s side.

“How are you feeling?”

“Better” Stella said as a paramedic cleaned the wounds on her face.

“Miss we have to take you to the hospital to make sure there are no other injuries especially a concussion.” The paramedic said as he flashed a pen light in her eyes.

Stella simply nodded her eyes not leaving Jayson.

“Stella you okay?” Andrew came to a stop in front of his daughter.

“I have to go to the hospital”

“Of course you have to” Andrew said as he looked at the bruised face of his daughter.

The paramedics loaded Stella in the ambulance and Andrew and Jayson followed in their cars.

Despite trying to hurry it took Jayson four hours at the hospital especially when Stella’s hysterical mother refused to be consoled despite Stella herself saying she was fine. The doctor had given her an all clear but still wanted to keep her under observation for the night.

“Thank you Jayson” Stella whispered as she took Jay’s hand. Jayson smiled at her and patted her hand. He looked at the time. It was quarter past midnight. Jayson sighed.

“I have to leave now. Take care.” Jayson nodded at her parents and left.

Jayson drove home, thinking about trying to placate the museum director to let him have the area for tomorrow night. He would have to make another hefty donation but he knew it would be worth it. He would make the call in the morning.

Jayson reached home and saw Kate sitting in the kitchen on the barstool.

“Is she okay?” Kate asked as she got up when Jayson entered.

“Yes, it was nothing serious but the testing and all took time.” Jayson explained as he grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge.

Jayson stood across from Kate with the counter separating them. She had let her hair lose which was earlier held in clips away from her face.

Jayson walked around the counter as he kept the bottle down and took Kate’s face in his hands.

Her lips which were adorned in a blood red lipstick were so enticing. Jayson bent down and took her lower lip between his own. Kate moaned at the contact and Jayson picked her up and laid her down on the couch. The slit of her dress fell to the side and her well shaped leg was now draped around Jay’s waist.

“Katherine...I love you.” Jayson whispered as he peppered kisses along her jaw and collarbone. He knew as a human he had to help Stella, hell even more than as a human. He saw that girl grow up right in front of him right next to his sister but he hated these lost moments with Kate especially with the proposal from his side still hanging mid air.

He hovered on top her, his own body weight supported on his arms which were placed on either side of her.

“You have no clue what I want to do to you” Jayson said as he leaned down but at the same time the ring box slipped from his jacket pocket and landed on Kate’s breast.

“Shit” Jayson thought however he didn’t move but watched as Kate looked at him surprised and reached for the ring box with shaking hands. She pulled it open gasped.

Kate looked at the beautiful ring. It was beyond perfect. Her eyes were closed from anticipation when she felt the box drop on her. She had opened her eyes and from the expression on Jayson’s face realized it must have fell out of his pocket by mistake.

Jayson gulped as he tried to comprehend the expressions running across Kate’s face. They were still in their position, with Kate underneath with her leg wrapped around his waist and him hovering on top of her.

Kate looked at him and then back at the ring.

“Marry me?” Jayson said. What else was he suppose to say? Jayson wanted to bitch slap himself.

Kate laughed at the bewildered expression on his face. She now understood that Jayson must have decided to propose her tonight. No wonder Rabia was fussing over her so much. However she also realized this is not he had planned it would be.

“Oh yeah, one knee” Jayson mumbled as grabbed the box from her hand and in an attempt to move off from her he slipped of the edge of couch and landed on his ass.

Kate burst out laughing even harder as Jayson stumbled onto one knee.

“There we go” Jayson muttered as he fixed his jacket. The poor man was so out of his element that she couldn’t help but keep on laughing. She fell even more in love with this stumbling and fumbling man.

“Stop laughing woman, you want the ring or not?” Jayson grumbled.

This was so not how he had planned himself to be on one knee. He didn’t know that ring would slip out and land between them. Maybe even it got tired of waiting around.

Kate composed herself and bent down next to Jay.

“This is perfect Jay, you are perfect” Kate said as she lovingly caressed his face. Only God knew how much she wished she could actually speak and tell this amazing man how much he meant to her and how perfect he was. There was only so much she could express through sign language so she kept quiet and hoped her eyes and touch relayed her message.

“So you will take this perfect man as your husband?” Jay said

Kate nodded and Jay slipped on the ring on her ring finger and pulled her in for kiss.

He finally had his ring on her finger.
