《His Proposal》His Proposal - 90

Jai and I walk into the restaurant hand in hand.
A waitress smiles. "Hi, I'm Laura. I will be your waitress this evening." She looks at us. "Are you after a table for two?"
"No, my brother will be joining us shortly." Just as I finished saying that Nate walks into the restaurant.
Laura shows us to the table and she flips her hair over her shoulder and she flirts with my brother.
I know nothing will happen between them.
Laura laughs at something that Nate said. She looks up as a group of people walk in. She gives us our menus. "I will be back shortly to take your orders." She walks over to the group.
Nate clears his throat. He looks at me as I slowly turn towards him. "Chloe, I want to apologise for my behaviour after our sister died. It was disrespectful of me to be hurt by your actions of The Proposal that was supposed to have been seen by Jai and yourself. The talk with the counsellor helped me realise that I took you for granted and when you left after the funeral I felt guilty for the way I treated you." He takes a sip of water. "Can you please forgive me?"
Rising I move over to my brother and hug him. "I forgive you. We, however, need to talk about what the papers and the stuff online mean."
"Okay,"
Pulling away from him I sit next to Jai. "Nate, when I first worked at Lusive I wanted to keep my distance from Jai. I didn't want anyone to help me out with my problems. I kept him at a distance, but one night I got a call that Aleysa was hurt and I couldn't drive to the hospital. I got Jai to drive me. After the kindness, he showed me I told him about Aleysa."

Nate places his hand on mine. "You don't need to explain it anymore."
"Yes, I do Nate. You need to understand what was going through my head at the time."
He sighs. "Okay,"
Jai squeezes my hand. "She eventually introduced me to Aleysa. I knew right away that Aleysa meant the world to Chloe and I wanted to lessen the stress on Chloe. So, I came up with a proposal where Aleysa gets the best care. In return, Chloe was supposed to be my fake girlfriend." He looks at me. "There's nothing that could have been faked between us. The more time I spent with your sister the more I realised that I was falling for her."
I lean over to him and kiss him. "I love you."
"Me, too." He pulls away from me.
Turning towards Nate, I say. "Everything between Jai and I is real. We never once faked anything we felt for each other. We told each other the truth and we still do. However, there's a group of girls that hated the idea that Jai was dating someone that wasn't them. They were the ones that stole the documents and give them to the press. You weren't supposed to find out about it. I'm sorry that you were hurt by it." Tears fall down my face and Jai pulls me onto his lap and I bury my face in his neck.
"Are you ready to order?" Laura asks.
"Yes," Jai replies. He gives her our orders and then Nate tells her his.
"Can I get you anything to drink while you wait for your meal?"
Jai looks at me before he orders a bottle of white wine for us.
Nate orders a coke since he's underage to drink with us.
"What do you want to do after dinner, Chloe?"

"I was thinking that we could go to the cinema and watch something. I want to get away from here for a bit."
"Okay," he whispers. "Should we invite Nate?"
"Yes, I want things to get back to normal between us." I turn towards Nate. "We're going to the movies after dinner. Do you want to come?"
A smile spreads across his face. "Sure, its been a while since I've seen a movie that didn't go into a DVD player."
"I'm sorry."
He shakes his head. "It's not your fault. It's just something that we had to deal with having our sister sick."
Laura walks back to our table with our drinks. She pours two glasses for Jai and me.
"Thanks," I take the glass from her and I turn towards my group. "Aleysa, we will always remember you, little sister."
"Aleysa," Nate and Jai say together.
We drink.
I move back to my seat as dinner is places on the table.
Laura looks at everyone. "If you need anything, please let me know. Enjoy your meal." She walks away from the table and she takes orders from other patrons that have walked in after us.

After dinner, we pay for the meal and then we walk out.
Pulling the keys out of my handbag I put it in the sports car that I drove to San Francisco.
Nate and Jai climb into the car. I pull out of the parking lot and head to the cinema.
When we get there Jai pays for the tickets and then we walk inside.
I line up at the concession stand and wait for my turn.
Nate stands next to me. "Can you get me some malteasers and snickers bar?"
When it's my turn I order an extra-large popcorn and one Coke and one Diet Coke.
I give the drinks and chocolates to Jai and Nate.
Jai places his free hand on the small of my back and he leads the way to the cinema that the movie is playing in. Jai and I sit in the back row.
Nate sits in front of us.
I lie my head on Jai shoulder as the movie begins.

When the movie is over Jai drives us back to Camp Tranquility.
Nate steps out of the car. He hugs me. "Goodnight, sis. I will see you tomorrow."
"Good night, Nate. We're going to The Golden Gate Bridge tomorrow. We will meet you at the restaurant for breakfast at 9 am."
Nate walks to his room.
Jai holds my hand as we walk to our room. "I had fun today with you. When Nate goes to University it will be just the two of us and we can do whatever we want without interruption."
I smile. "I'm looking forward to spending more time alone with you too.
Jai and I climb into bed and we fall asleep.
In the middle of the night, I wake up feeling queasy. I run into the bathroom and lean over the toilet and throw up.
"Chloe?" Jai yells.
I throw up and again.
The door to the bathroom opens. "Chloe," he places his hand on my back. "Are you alright?"
"I think I ate something off or the wine didn't agree with me."
When I'm done throwing up, Jai fills a cup of water for me and gives it to me. "Rinse your mouth and then drink some water."
I rinse my mouth out with water and then brush my teeth. I fill up the cup and take it to my room. I climb into bed next to Jai and fall back to sleep.
