《Void》Deal with the Devil

Yes, it was evil of me to end a chapter with the latest idea of teasing you about recruiting Frieza, but this idea was in my head ever since I started down this crazy rabbit hole of this arc. As much as I love my original character, I'll bring him back with the rest of the baddies after the Tournament of Power arc, especially since he's gonna need back-up.
Plus, thus whole idea started as a drabble that I was just throwing around, wanting to see if it could go somewhere. If I could use the Potara nerf in more creative ways. If I could use Vegito further to cause more mayhem for our heroes.
And then, the ideas just came to me, though again, my old laptop bit the dust before I could start writing more. I lost not only this story, but all of the others I had on there. Lessons learned, save on Google Drive and have backups. Now, I have to write from scratch.
Would I write about Broly eventually? Maybe, though I'll make an excuse to use Gogeta by that point 'cause I'll admit that Vegito vs. Broly be a crazy ride in itself. I might make it a standalone 'cause it might not fit in the universe I'm writing and I have yet to watch the movie.
Yes, poor Chibi has yet to watch last year's movie from start to finish. I'll get around to it soon since I heard wonderful things about it. All I know so far is the fusion battling Broly, and I have no idea how this escalated, so no spoilers in the comments.
Anyway, I am more stoked about writing this chapter than I was the last chapter because it was a bridge chapter. Yeah, I skipped over a lot of the recruiting of the other characters just to get to Buu's replacement, but I promise this is for a very good thing.
I mean how could recruiting Frieza go wrong when you have an ace in the hole?
Vegeta landed on a platform that seemed completely out of place as a small pathway lead to a building. What kind of oddity of a place was this? And why did he have a feeling that this was the opening to the gates of hell he was about to walk through?
Kakarrot walked further ahead, unbothered by the layout as the elder Saiya-jin followed, wanting to get this over with and leave as soon as possible. Almost though walking into a lion's den, the younger man seemed to look around at the flickering candles that barely illuminated the room, exposing a sparsely decorated room to them. Moments after walking into the room, the wind blew harshly at the flames before they were snuffed out entirely, small billows of smoke rising from the candles.
Almost in a dramatic fashion, a ghostly figure suddenly appeared from the shadows, an apparition that Vegeta did not miss in the slightest or even wanted to acknowledge. This figure that appeared was the one who was the cause of their kind's near-extinction appeared along with an old woman perched upon a crystal ball like Death himself.
Frieza.
Only, the former despot was not amused upon opening his eyes. He glanced at the halo hovering ironically over his head, an indication that he was dead. It was perhaps the humor of the gods that he had something that is usually associated with angels looming over his crown in a comical manner, and the idea truly did not reflect the devil he truly was to the universe. With resignation, he sighed at the fact that even though he was in the land of living, he was only here on borrowed time.

Great.
"Hurry up and take him away," the old crone, who Vegeta had only met once years ago during the whole Majin Buu fiasco, bellowed in discomfort. At least he was not the only one repulsed by Frieza's presence and wanted him gone. He would be shouting for Frieza's removal as soon as possible if he was in her position, preferably blasting him to hell.
"Right! Thank you!" Kakarrot cheerfully answered before he was gut-checked by Frieza's blow with a fist. He grunts in pain as he falls forward, smiling like a buffoon.
"My hand slipped," Frieza says casually, treating this dislike and distaste of his mortal enemy as a greeting. Who could blame him after he was murdered by the Saiya-jin's signature energy blast that tore him apart?
"I guess you should be more careful..." Kakarrot responded before returning the hateful sentiment and punched Frieza right in his gut. "Looks like my fist slipped as well..."
They both chuckled as if a joke had been shared between them, though this was done mostly out of spite. Vegeta had to look away from the two for their childish actions. It was no secret that he clearly did not want to be here in this room with his rival and the notorious tyrant. Frieza had been given a 24 hour pass to join in on this tournament, and it was clear that he was only coming along due to an offer that he could not refuse.
"I wonder what else will slip..." Frieza chuckled before noticed the movement and his gaze fell upon the prince. "Well, well, well, I didn't expect you to come here willingly."
The way he spoke to Vegeta was with a smug expression on his face. His tail coiled behind him like a snake's, and it was repulsive the way he grinned in sheer delight at the possibilities of how he might make his life a nightmare. Vegeta rather have had the aid of Cell over this bastard, but knowing that the bio-android might use his biology, and his insane definition of 'perfection' in such an egotistical manner, he knew that Kakarrot probably chose the lesser of two evils considering their odds of survival.
Not to mention Cell might be a poor choice at this tournament, considering how he might not hold back and might kill the other competitors.
If anything, this did not make the whole situation anymore comfortable between the prince and the former despot.
"I only came to ensure that you don't go on a rampage," Vegeta answered tersely. Just because he was given a 24 hour pass to return to the living, the prince figured that Frieza might fly off and kill immediately after being brought to this realm if he was not reigned in.
Key word might.
"Funny, I thought you could have trusted the other monkey to come and collect me personally," Frieza shook his head while he raised his hands in a clueless gesture. "All the same, it's good to see you again... however, I do have my terms of being brought back..."
"And you wanted to invite him to the Tournament of Power?!" Vegeta yelled at Kakarrot who was standing at his side.
Kakarrot seemed a bit nervous as his hand went behind his head, laughter escaping his throat. Perhaps bringing Vegeta along to persuade Frieza was a bad idea. Both had a great deal of animosity towards one another, and it would not take much to destroy Frieza's soul if they teamed up and took him down together. This however was forbidden since if they did that, then they would jeopardize their odds of participating. For whatever reason, there was a sickening reason why Kakarrot had yet to say why he had to join in this farce of a tournament. Something that he knew and yet, was not sharing, which was slowly infuriating him more than trying to reason with the former tyrant to participate.

"He's the only other option because Buu's fallen asleep..." Kakarrot replied simply.
Did that odd freak just wake from a nap not long ago? He was considered the worst evil when they fought against him back on that day, but now, he was acting like a cat: choosing when to wake and sleep. He was far worse than Beerus, and the God of Destruction's reputation of being lazy was now being called into question, especially considering the number of years he had slumbered before waking to this time for whatever reason.
"So in other words, you're bringing him along just to see if he's going to actually participate..." Vegeta was getting annoyed at the idea of being involved. "You should just invite Cell as well and count me out because I am..."
"No! You need to come with us!" Kakarrot argued. "I doubt I can get Baba to get Cell's soul approved in time, and I can't afford to lose your assistance!"
"You still haven't given a reason why you want me to participate in this," Vegeta seemed suspicious of the younger man's activities. It was one thing to be secretive about Hit coming to kill them in their fused state, but now, he was acting almost though it was much more important.
And he knew he would have to get his answer out of the clown as soon as possible.
"Listen, I don't need much," Frieza interrupted the pair. "The only thing I desire is to be resurrected after this farce of a tournament is over."
"That all depends on how you perform," Vegeta snorts, knowing that the tyrant was probably bad at directions as well as how much time passes. Then again, that was probably one of the despot's weaknesses, especially considering how little time mattered to him since he wanted results in his time scale.
"Perform? What am I? A pet?" Frieza questioned as the expression on his face darkens, a scowl appearing on his face as he transformed into his golden form.
"We... we didn't mean to word it like that!" Kakarrot tried to calm Frieza down, but the tyrant was having none of it as he hissed angrily.
"I am no pet to you monkeys!" Frieza sneered as he lunged at Kakarrot. He had to quickly teleport out of the way, but the undead fighter was right on his heels. Vegeta just watched as Kakarrot transformed into a Super Saiya-jin Blue and flew right to the prince, quickly forcing a Potara earring into his hand. The prince was starting to detest the piece of jewelry being thrusted into his hand whenever the clown managed to dig himself into a hole. Was he using this as an excuse now?
"Kakarrot, no, just no," Vegeta frowned as said man produced his Potara earring and snapped it on his ear. He had been hoping to avoid this scenario. He quickly drops it as the fool was quick to grab it. Last thing the clown wanted was the same scenario that caused Super Buu to get the upper hand.
"Come on Vegeta, you and I both know that Frieza needs some more convincing..." Kakarrot tried to explain quickly as he managed to deflect one of Frieza's death beams that would normally kill a Saiya-jin if he was not focused. He held the other earring protectively in his grasp.
"Seriously, we don't have to..." Vegeta started to dismiss the idea before Frieza began firing blasts at the prince.
"Are you two planning to conspire to force me into this now?" Frieza snarled. "Because whatever you are holding won't affect me! The mighty Lord Frieza! And I will not be an obedient pet and fight the way you want!"
"To hell with it, give me the damn earring," Vegeta demanded with gritted teeth as Kakarrot quickly hands it to him. The earring quickly was affixed to his ear and in moments, both Saiya-jins were pulled together and vanished merging into Vegito.
"Alright, what kind of trickery is this?" Frieza angrily seethed through clenched teeth. He had thought that both monkeys would have argued about who would fight the former despot.
Instead, a man who strikingly had their characteristics seemed to materialize where they once stood, a cocky smirk that sickened him greatly.
"Why Frieza," the fusion spoke in such a demeaning, mocking tone, "if I told you our secrets, then I would sooner send you back to hell myself personally..."
"Your secret is going to be the thing that will kill you both!" Frieza sneered as he lunged at the fusion; however, his fist passed through an after-image.
"Hey Frieza! You missed!" Vegito's voice mockingly teased as the former despot attempted to attack him again, missing with every punch and kick.
"Hold... still... you bastard!" Frieza growls as Vegito blocked the next blow, getting really close to him as he seemed to smile mockingly at the evil tyrant.
"If I had done this the last time you threatened Earth, I would have easily sent you back to hell without an issue," Vegito frowned as Frieza pulled his fist away in shock.
"What... what the hell are you?!" Frieza demanded.
"An experience," Vegito smirked as he prepared a blast at point-blank range.
______________
Frieza quickly backed up from this alien being, trying to put distance between him and his foe.
As if he would let this simian bastard take advantage of him like this! He was the mighty Frieza! These monkeys were all beneath him!
He fired blasts that easily phased through the enigma that was this odd Saiya-jin. He had no idea where he came from, but the prince and the oddly dressed one had these strange objects that brought them together somehow. He had never heard of such a disgusting, demeaning act that would do such a thing.
As he searched the skies for his foe, the arrogant bastard suddenly appeared and fired a blast at him. The former despot was quick to block it with his forearms, but it stung, leaving a scorch mark on both limbs as Frieza snarled angrily.
"Mark my words monkey, that act is not going to stop me!" He vowed, his voice growing higher in pitch due to the rage he felt towards this abomination.
Yes. Abomination sounded perfect.
Said abomination just looked at him almost with a bored expression.
"If this is all you're capable of doing is bluffing, maybe I should just drag your worthless hide with me. At least you'll talk the competition to sleep..."
"Both of you are no match for me alone, so you did some stupid thing that makes no sense!" Frieza roared as he prepares to do something horrific: a planet-destroying blast.
______________
The very fact brought memories back to the Saiya-jin that had seen this before. Kakarot's memories washed over Vegeta's as the prince finally learns the truth in a matter of moments.
Angrily, the fusion quickly closed the distance and slammed the tyrant off-balance as the planet-destroying blast was quickly hurled off the Earth into the depths of space where it collided into an asteroid. It exploded in a fiery collision that could be seen from Earth.
Vegito slammed Frieza to the ground with a single punch as the former despot cried out in pain. He would have followed up with a haymaker, but it was then that Baba intervened.
"Save your fighting for the tournament!" She yelled at them. "You're wasting your time fighting here and causing too much damage!"
The way she shouted at the fusion and Frieza was not pleasant. The despot would have killed her for her insolence, but Vegito stopped him.
"Hate to say it, but she's right," Vegito grumbled at the fact that the old crone stopped them just as things were starting to get interesting. "We'll have time to settle this later."
"That's if I choose to participate in this contest of yours," Frieza reminded the fusion. "How does this work?"
Vegito realized that trying to reason with Frieza was one thing, but describing the rules was perhaps what annoyed him further. Not being able to kill an opponent was irritating. He was hoping to at least do that, but it seemed that the joy of getting a wish was on the table. He would not mind if he had his wish granted.
"So, no killing, knock them off a platform, and the last team standing on there gets a wish," Frieza summarized as the fusion wore off. Kakarrot and Vegeta removed their earrings and pocketed them.
"That's right," Kakarrot nods, confirming his explanation.
"Sounds childish not killing your enemy, but I suppose it would be entertaining for those little overseers you described rather poorly," Frieza mused. "As long as I get wished back to life, I can play along with your foolish little game."
"This is a matter of remaining in existence," Vegeta hissed as he turned on Kakarrot and grabs the front of his shirt with a snarl. "And you were stupid putting this entire universe in jeopardy yet again!"
"What is the problem? We can just wish for all of the universes back after the tournament when we win!"
" !" Vegeta shouted so loudly that the bars roosting in a nearby forest were startled by the prince's ungodly rage and fly away shrieking in fright. " ?!"
Frieza just watched the prince tear into the simpleton, wondering when they were going to finish their latest argument. The clock was still ticking, the tournament would soon begin.

Gaslgiht
There is a common line of questioning that falls upon students within their first moments at Kingsly. “Why?”. The student asks, “Why am I here?”. This is a futile line of questioning. There are those who remember, and those who do not. I’ll spare you the technical explanation — that’s what we have teachers for. The jist is as follows: those who remember are... how do I put this... more likely. They occupy more time. and the space that time has allowed them — the pertinent amount — is experienced no matter what. Allow me to offer you a bit of personal information: I am not one who remembers. There is no time relevant to me, no space that I occupy. I exist by carving myself here, and continue to exist in the same fashion. You would do well to follow suit. Why am I here? Because I force myself to be. Because the universe, the universes, for all its kicking and screaming, cannot escort me out.
