Faye came into the room seeing Nathan sitting comfortably on the bed, swirling a glass of champagne in his hand. His presence in the room changed her whole opinion about it. What had been to her a beautiful and bright place suddenly became something like a crypt or a tomb. She wanted to get out, but she just had to finish a little bit of business in the room first.
"You look like you ate bad oysters," he commented with a smug satisfaction on his face, "Just a little uglier than your normal face. Not that there's any real difference."
Faye tried not to let the comment get to her counting slowly in her head. She dropped herself on the couch and faced him. "Give me a glass of that."
"What? This?" He raised the bottle and shrugged. "Sure." He took another glass and took a swig straight from the bottle before pouring some into the clean glass. "It's really good, you know."
Her face twisted in disgust. "Ew! You stupid pig! That's just gross. I can't believe I'm spending a whole month with you..."
"That's something I don't hear everyday. Spending time with me, I mean." He sipped from the glass and made a face that could only be described as orgasmic to taunt her.
"Shut up," she grunted. "Listen. Your father and my aunt set us up for this."
He cocked his eyebrows at her and put the champagne bottle and glass down on the floor. He returned to face her with a smirk. "Good. I'll have something to play with."
"Excuse me?! Something to play with? Want me to cut your balls out?"
"Ouch...sexual harassment," he winced dramatically to mock her. "At least I don't go as low."
She let out an indignant huff. "The hell, you liar! You were the first to comment so off-handedly about my body!"
"That's a compliment, you know."
"Don't act as if you've never heard of sexual harassment laws." She rolled her eyes at him. "And that, you pig, is sexual harassment."
"Yeah I know. Only girls would take that as a compliment. I forgot that you're a mule." He laughed heartily.
"Freakish pig! Get out of the bed!" She glared at him.
"Uh, no thank you. I like this bed. If you want to sleep in this room, sleep on the couch. If you don't want to, then just get another room. I'm sure you can pay for it Ms. CEO."
"You know, if I could, I'd throw you out and lock you there."
"And of course, you can't. And I suppose you have another reason other than the fact that you will always be weaker than me."

"You're a fucking misogynist, you know that?" She glared at him.
He grinned at her. "Yeah, only to you. But that is inaccurate since I haven't, as you say, f'd you yet. I wonder what your aunt would say to such crass language. I wonder if I would mind if I did. Want to try it out?"
"Go to hell."
"As long as you're not there."
"Forget it!"
She snatched her purse from the couch and stomped off. His hand latched onto her wrist and stopped her with a jerk before she could go out.
"What are you trying to do?" She glared at him and tried to take back her wrist.
No reply came from him, rather he took a sip from his glass and looked at her teasingly.
"Let me go, you ass!" She jerked her hand with a lot of force and was finally able to get out of his grip. He gave her a wink before she stormed out of the room, muttering obscenities about him, under her breath.
A huge laugh resonated from him. This guy irritated her so much.
She could not believe she would be in the same room with him for a whole month! Whatever was going on through her aunt's head, she was fairly sure was due to a bit of her craziness, but she could not understand what was going on in the mind of Mr. Prescott for him to actually mastermind the whole thing. She and Nathan had nothing in common and nothing they could ever agree on!
A drop fell on the back of her hand and she realized she had teared up. She immediately wiped them away and prayed to God that she hadn't been doing it in the presence of Nathan. If anything, showing him a weakness would be her worst nightmare. And crying because of frustration is definitely a weakness.
She knew he meant what he said when he stubbornly refused to give the bed away. But that wasn't what frustrated her. What frustrated her was the person of Nathan. He had not changed in the slightest...well, he had. He had become more misogynistic, looks aside. The rest of him was the same.
The cool breeze from the sea on the deck did very little to calm her. Just the sight of him riled up something inside her. She couldn't stop her mouth from speaking. Couldn't stop herself from opposing anything that he said. The only motive her aunt could possibly have had in doing what she did was to make them friends. But if the earlier encounter was any indication, it was impossible.
She shook her head and decided to ignore everything that just happened and enjoy the trip without him. All she really had to do was to avoid him and she would still have that restful vacation. It would be hard, but not impossible. At night, she could either sleep so early or wait for him to sleep. That was all there is to it.

With renewed vigor, she walked past children heading to the pool, dodging toy dogs that followed them, and headed for the bar. If she couldn't get a drink in the room, she could always get one in the bar. Besides, she wasn't a champagne person anyway. Whatever happened to the flowers that went along with it, she couldn't care any less.
She let the sound of the breeze, of playing children and of laughing people wash over her as she closed her eyes and toyed with the neck of the red wine glass. This was her vacation and she was not going to let anyone ruin it. Not even Nathan freaking Prescott! And she was going to start to enjoy her vacation without thinking of him.
"One Afterburn and one Airhead...or would you suggest an Absolut Train Wreck?"
Faye cursed in her head as she felt him take the seat beside her. Maybe he was with someone else and he'd ignore her.
"Depends on how heavy she drinks sir," she heard the bartender answer.
"Nah...more like what best describes her. I'm thinking a bit of both. Yeah...just give her both."
"Coming up."
She decided to take a little peek on who he was talking about and she immediately flared seeing him smile at her in the most condescending way he knew. And she wasn't surprised that it was so easy for him to do it. He had always been such as ass and that was a signature condescending look.
"I think I made the right choice, don't you? Or would you prefer being labeled an airhead as opposed to being a train wreck?" When she didn't reply, he continued. "You don't look so thankful. I'm buying you a drink, you know."
She decided to stay and let him smirk at her. It was an effort not to talk back, but she held her tongue. Her mind screamed at her to give him an earful of what she thought of him and his stupid joke, but she clamped her mouth shut.
When her drinks had arrived, she took both the glasses and poured it all over his crotch without having a second thought.
"Whoa! Hey!" It was Nathan's turn to glare at her. "This costs more than your life, you littl-!"
"Oh...looks like you peed yourself. Don't worry, I'm sure they'll be able to give you a diaper." She patted his cheek and walked away with as much dignity as she could muster.
"Hey!" He called after her but she refused to turn back and look at him. He got what he deserved and that was that.
He suddenly grabbed her wrist, turning her around and twisted her arm behind her back. Using it to keep her under control, he dragged her close so their bodies were pressed together. Pitching his voice as low as possible, he let out a warning, leaning towards her. "That wasn't funny you know. Little girls, who play those types of games, better be prepared for the consequences."
She struggled and tried to shove him, "Oh, this means war, sweetheart," he pulled her arm up tighter and she gave a cry of pain, before finally stilling. "You and I are going to get even." The last word was accompanied by a backward shove and he released her wrist. Without the support of his hands she stumbled but was able to straighten up.
"Bastard!"
"And don't you forget it." He winked, blew her a kiss, and walked away, nonchalantly. She stood watching him, her breathing ragged. There was a slight hitch to it, as if she'd like to cry, but wouldn't allow herself the luxury. Finally, she spin on her heel walking out of his sight.
Her arm hurt by the way he twisted it but a small part of her was very satisfied with her actions. She wasn't going to cry listening to his empty threats.
Yes. She finally had the resolve to fight back with more than just words. And tonight, she would make sure that she would be sleeping on the bed and not him. All it really took was to be there before him and go to bed before he did. She only had to finish dinner faster than him. That was all.
Her moment of crying and becoming the loser was over. She had just been overwhelmed after not seeing him for eight years. That was all. It was easy getting used to it all over again. Just like riding a bike.

When Plush comes to Shove
An: So the last synopsis wasn’t really all that good, it was just some mumbo jumbo with no actual point to it so I decided to make a new one that’s a bit more accurate. Leo Lush, just your average everyday (slightly chubby) schmuck, or at least he would be if he didn’t carry around a stuffed toy everywhere he went.I mean, he was a man who could read the atmosphere a bit so put it away in his bag whenever having a stuffed toy out would be rude but other than that he brought it with him all the time, it was a memento from his girlfriend who had died three years ago and keeping it close made him feel better. That’s also why his classmates gave him the nickname “Plush”, though that's neither here nor there. One day at the train station he’d lost his dearest stuffed toy, one of his classmates found it and lobbed it towards him, something that they’d already done many times before, but this time something went wrong and Leo found himself falling in front of the train due to the force of the throw. Now follow Leo as the spirit that developed in his stuffed toy and killed him forces his ghost into another world to possess a different stuffed toy. He doesn’t know much about the world or why he’s there but what he does know is that according to a magic book his girlfriend was also sent to this very world when she died in a plane accident three years ago. An: For those who want to know a bit more about what kind of story this will be: I want it to be a chill feel-good story and stay as far away from those despair-fest stories as possible (No offense to people who enjoy them, I’m just not one of you)Let me make something clear; I’m not writing this story with hope of it becoming really top tier among RRL (Though it did get above rank 500 once which I’m still very proud of even though it’s gone back down to ~850 at the time of writing this) I just want to write a story that I would enjoy reading, that’s why I’ll be mostly skipping over a lot of the parts that I skip when I read other stories, such as stats, the exact value of money and other such precise statistics that no one(as far as I’m aware) really cares about all that much. Just feels like a lot of effort for something superfluous. There’s a single exception and that’s one of the battles, it’s not a despair-fest or anything but it’s got a different feel than the rest of the story due to me being in a funky mood while I was writing it.

It has been decades since the Wizardly Order rose and helped the Realm to banish the monstruos Elfey from its lands by building the Five Spires. Master Garner, a wizard in the scarcely populated far West of the Realm, feels the situation getting out of hand, and a violent purge forces him out of his beloved Tower. Some sources of inspiration for this story, for variable reasons: Riyria Chronicles, The Wandering Inn, Gentleman Bastard series. Note: First dedicated attempt at writing.
