Be careful my darlings. There are people

out there that taste like fireworks and

bliss, but leave ashes and warnings in the

aftertaste of their kiss.

Alpha Jay was gripping the arms to his chair.

Her scent was invading the office.

It took all he had at the moment to not shove Doctor Schulman, Grace, and John out the door and cover himself in his mate's scent.

His mate.

They sat in the same meeting room where Doctor Schulman had first told Grace and John the bad news.

Now their eyes were filled with a different emotion. Hope.

Alpha Jay was proud of Doctor Shulman for working and finding this female. Not only to help his Beta but he had also brought his mate to him. Fate worked in mysterious ways.

His attention shifted over to his mate. Her eyes were hooded, a soft vibration coming from her chest as she took in his scent.

He wanted her.

She stood up then, her wolf exerting power over the room, showing that she oversaw this meeting. His wolf started to surface. The show of dominance was... Extraordinary. His hands gripped the arms to his chair tighter.

He didn't even know her name yet. But she invaded his thoughts, his senses. His everything.

In that moment though he finally could take in her attire. Alpha Jay had to dig his fingers into one of his palms to stop himself from laughing.

She wore a leather cord choker necklace that had a daisy flower charm in the middle, along with a flowing floral pattern skirt that reached to the floor, showing just the tips of her feet that wore sandals. Her shirt, however, was pink and said on the front, "Lettuce Turnip the Beet."

Grace laughed for him. "I like your shirt," she whispered in a hoarse voice.

His mate laughed. Goddess... her laugh...

"Thanks, buttercup," she warmly said.

Beta John cleared his throat, his wolf on edge and wanting to get Grace back home.

"Let me introduce myself first," Jay's mate said. "I'm a healer, but I'm also a doctor. My specialty though is in females, mostly just mothers who are expecting and the health of females," she smiled down at Grace.

"Here are all my documents saying I am certified to do surgery and prescribe medicine," she pulled out a folder from her tan backpack that looked like it had seen better days. She had only brought the backpack and a giant hiking bag. That was all her stuff.

"And here are the docs saying I'm a legit deal doctor," she said pulling out more papers.

John took them and examined them, before showing them to Grace.

She gave a small glance at them but didn't really read. Jay suspected she had won Grace over the moment she read "lettuce."

"So," the healer sat down, letting her eyes linger and examine her mate before she pulled them away. Alpha Jay savored that moment though when her eyes were on his skin. It sent heat down and through him.

"John and Grace, right?"

The two nodded. They were sitting close together holding hands.

"Well I'm not going to lie, it's going to be slicker than a watermelon fight in June at Texas. But if you listen to what I say and follow what I do to help you, there is a 70 percent chance that both you and your pups can make it through this," the moon blessed female smiled at the couple.

Beta John stared agape at her. He was normally a people person but in this moment, he didn't understand a word she had said.

Grace nodded slowly, looking at Doctor Schulman before staring back at the female.

"What is your name?" Grace asked.

Alpha Jay closed his eyes silently thanking Grace and her curiosity.

His attention focused back on the beautiful female before him as she gave a small laugh, "I go by many names Buttercup. Some call me Wanderer. Seeker. Messenger. Others just call me Daisy. It's whatever floats your boat."

Grace smiled, "Daisy?"

Daisy smiled back at Grace, not displaying teeth, but clearly pleased with her choice.

"What do we need to do Daisy?" Beta John asked, interrupting the moment.

A serious look replaced the cheerful and bright one that was displayed on Daisy's features.

"You are almost five-months pregnant Grace. I've checked with doc and I agree with some of what he has you on. However, I'm taking away some and adding on others. You need iron sista, and some other herbs that will help."

Grace nodded and held John's hand tightly. "We'll go over more later though. How do you sleep?" Daisy asked.

"What?" Grace said, confusion on her face.

"Back? Side? Curled up?" Daisy said, pushing the subject.

"Um..." before Grace could answer John interrupted, "she sleeps on her side."

"Ahhhh I see," Daisy said, winking at the two, "the old 'spoon it up'?

"I don't even know what that means," John said flatly.

"Well never mind that. Grace continue sleeping on your side. And John stay by Grace's side," Daisy laughed at her bad pun, "You are what she needs most now. Her mate. She needs your comfort and touch. Your love and support. Stay there and provide that for her," her eyes grew hard when she said those words. Alpha Jay wondered how and if she knew that John had a moment of weakness. Or maybe she was just used to males being weak for their females and choosing to run.

He shifted his shoulders back, making his chest stick out. He wouldn't be like these weak males. He was an Alpha and would be strong for his mate.

"Now John, please take Grace home. She needs rest," Daisy smiled softly at Grace, who returned with an equally soft smile. It made Jay's heart swell to see that they were already on the road to being friends.

John stood up and helped Grace stand. His wolf felt overprotective of her and the pups that were inside. "Thank you," John said, leading Grace out. "It was nice meeting you Daisy," Grace said smiling at Daisy as they left the office.

"You to Grace! I'll check in on you as soon as I can, I just have to check out this hubba hubba that's my mate," Daisy said, giving a sly eye and wink towards Alpha Jay.

"Your what?!" Grace gasped before Doctor Schulman hopped forward with a laugh, closing the door, and leaving Daisy and Alpha Jay alone in the meeting room.

Daisy laughed at the shock that could still be heard from Grace down the hall. "I love surprising people," she said, looking at Alpha Jay.

A deep rumble sound came from Alpha Jay's chest as he approached the woman who was his mate.

"Wooohhh my mate is sexy," Daisy said, involuntarily darting her tongue out to lick her lips.

"Daisy," Alpha Jay said in his deep voice.

"Is it Alpha Jay?" She asked, mirth showing in her eye.

Hearing his name pass through her lips...tantalizing.

"Yes," he said, "but you can call me Jay."

"Alright," she answered.

They stared at each other for a few more seconds.

"I don't really know what to do now?" Jay said, staring at Daisy. They both laughed at the awkwardness of the situation.

"I'm glad I found you," Daisy said, reaching her hand out for Jay.

He stared at it before taking his hand in hers. Feeling her skin. It was the best.

"We can go over the details later," Alpha Jay said, rubbing his thumb in soothing circles. "I just...I mean..." He gave a short laugh, "An Alpha at a loss for words."

Daisy laughed with Jay.

"Not something I see every day," she said, "and I've seen a lot of Alpha's."

Jay stared at his mate. It was all new. He had thought this scenario through over and over in his head of what he would do, how he would grab her, say sweet nothings. However, the reality was more than he was expecting and the overwhelming scent of a mate had him not able to think straight.

"Daisy.... would you like to...go to dinner with me?" Alpha Jay asked. He tried to not assert his dominance over her, instead asking her human to human.

Daisy's strange pale blue eyes lit up with wonder, "Is this a date, Alpha Jay?" She asked mischievously.

"Yes," Alpha Jay answered smiling.

"Then yes," Daisy said, "I accept. Not tonight though. I need to settle in and see Grace. Tomorrow?"

Alpha Jay nodded. Suddenly he pulled Daisy with the hand he was holding towards him. She landed firmly in his chest. Daisy sighed deeply. "I didn't think I would find my mate. I thought I was blessed enough by the moon."

Alpha Jay couldn't help himself. He kissed the top of his mate's head giving a deep sigh.

"I guess she decided I needed a blessing."

So Daisy is a bit of an oddie, but that's the character personality.

So the fateful meeting has occurred, we have new hope for Grace and her pups upon the horizon! (Or do we? Mwhahahaha)

What shall we see later on?

Questions, Questions, Questions...

Until Next time...
