They were two very different people. It was odd to watch as they never bumped into each other before. They had their own business on the same street. Right across from each other. It surprised him that he never noticed it before. But his life was more about work. He didn't have time for a bookstore. There was a reason why he was the best lawyer in Vancouver.

She shoves the frizzy red strand of hair out of her face. It always annoyed her. She usually had her puffy frizzy hair pulled back, but her hairband had broke. She stays busy shelving the books back into their places before she opened the shop.

Back across the street August Wicks is getting the worse news of his life. His client has been proven guilty. Life in jail. August felt sick. He's never lost. Well at least not in a long time. It's been years since he's lost a case.

He paces around his room trying not to yell. There's a knock on his door that makes him freeze.

"It's open," he says straightening himself up. The door opens and in walks his boss who was an older man that had white hair and was balding. He was also slowly starting to finally gain weight as well.

"August, I heard about the case boy. I was thinking. After you finish the case how about you take a break. Stay away from work for a little while and relax. You've been working here for awhile and you need a break. Three years straight of work," the man says.

August wouldn't have it. He didn't want to take a day off after this case. He had to get another case and redeem himself.

He nods his head, "Yes, of course I will."

The old man smiles at the boy knowing very well that he was going to have to kick the boy out of the building the day after this last case was over. Which would be probably by the end of the week. He wanted to give the boy a week. He worried about him a lot. August worked hard, but it changed the boy. The caring, eager young lawyer who first got the job five years ago now was a thirty year old man that only cared about work and had too big of an ego.
