Part 50

"Hey, is everyone free on the 21st of November?" Mrs Suthiluck suddenly asked in the middle of dinner.

"Why?" Mr Suthiluck asked, munching calmly on his food.

I shrugged and figured it was probably another of Mrs Suthiluck's personal occasions to be celebrated.

"It's Kongpob's and Arthit's wedding day!" She announced cheerfully.

Both Kongpob Suthiluck and I choked violently.

"WHAT?" I shouted, gasping for air.

"NO WAY!" Kongpob Suthiluck shouted as well.

"WE OBJECT!" We both continued almost simultaneously.

"Look mama, we're not ready to be married yet. There's father's business to be settled first." Kongpob Suthiluck explained calmly.

For once I was in total agreement with him. Yes I loved him a lot, but isn't it a bit too soon?

"Auntie, I think we're still young. I mean I'm still studying!"

"Isn't it rushing things a bit, dear?" That was Mr Suthiluck now.

"I think it's a bit too soon," my Dad was in full agreement as well.

"What, I'm going to get a brother-in-law so soon?" Daniel looked horrified.

However, in spite of all our protests and Kongpob Suthiluck showing his extreme displeasure, Mrs Suthiluck totally brushed aside our arguments.

This explains why, on 21st of November, I find myself dressed in this beautiful white wedding suit, trying to calm the nervous butterflies in my stomach as my make-up artist added the final touches to my face and the hairdresser styles my hair into a stylish look. He finally fixes a white flower to my chest and my look is complete.

"Beautiful," both of them exclaimed in awe. They stepped back and Auntie looked at me, immense satisfaction obvious on her smiling face. "You look so beautiful, Arthit, Kongpob won't be able to keep his eyes off you."

I smiled a little nervously as I looked at myself in the full-length mirror. The wedding suit I selected was a rather simple white suit with white dress shirt and white dress shoes. I was already slim and the body-tight suit further accentuated my slender figure. My hair was styled into a neat look, white rose pinned on my chest and thin layer of makeup accentuating my handsome features. My eyes were sparkling with anticipation and appeared larger than ever, my cheeks were flush with excitement in addition to the light blusher applied and there was a small smile on my lips. I stared at the handsome man in the mirror with a dreamy expression on my face – was that really me?

"It's time to go to the church now, Arthit." Auntie spoke softly as she led me downstairs. We had agreed upon a private church ceremony and then a simple reception. The church was within walking distance and I knew that Kongpob Suthiluck was already there – that is if he hadn't freaked out and vanished at the last minute.

When we arrived I was brought to a little room where I waited nervously for the time to make my grand entrance. I had not seen Kongpob Suthiluck since yesterday, as was the custom. Needless to say, my stomach was doing flip-flops again and I felt like fainting.

The door opened and I saw Daniel peeping in. "Wow..." was all he said as he stared at me for a moment. I didn't know whether to feel flattered or annoyed. That cheeky little imp looked really cute in his white suite – boy would he be a real heart-breaker like his elder brother once he grows up. I smiled at him, but my hands were still shaking and I believe I must have been very pale.

"Hey, don't be afraid, okay?" He's actually trying to reassure me? That little boy can be a real sweetie at times.

"I've got something to tell you." He walked closer to me and I bent down accordingly. My eyes widened in amazement as he whispered in my ear.

"Swear to me that you're not lying?" I finally said when he finished, still in shock and trying to process Daniel's words.

"I swear." He spoke with a cheeky grin and skipped out of the room.

Satisfied that he was telling the truth, a wide smile spread over my face. Kongpob, you really are full of surprises!

I was frowning to myself as I stood in the front of the church. From the bits of conversation that I overheard, I gathered that the general public felt that I was really handsome, but that I wasn't in the best of moods. Well, I was known to have a calm poker face, but I was honestly shaking with nervousness inside. And yes, I was also angry, because I didn't want to be rushed into this wedding, but I also didn't want to disappoint my parents, especially killing my mom's excitement to see us getting married, so...very reluctantly I agreed to this, but was still frustrated about it.

Thank you for stating the obvious, I bit back a curse as I tugged at the tight collar of the suit. Thanks to mama, I was dressed up to the nines: white suit, white shirt, tie and all with a white rose pinned to the lapels of my collar.

I could feel my hands sweat and just then, the music started and I turned to look at the church door, waiting for Arthit to make his entrance. My breath caught in my throat and my heart started racing when I caught sight of the vision standing in the doorway...or was it an angel?

Arthit was shyly walking towards me on the arm of his father, the embodiment of loveliness in his white suit. There was a dreamy look on his face and he was blushing slightly. Gosh, he was so lovely and handsome at the same time. I had really hit the jackpot with him!

"Take care of him, son." Mr Rojnapat said softly as he gave Arthit's hand to me, his eyes filled with tears. I nodded, promising him wordlessly. I felt Arthit's hand tremble in mine and I squeezed it reassuringly.

"Dear all, we have gathered here today..." the priest started.

My frown appeared again magically.

"Are you angry?" I heard Arthit whisper softly in the middle of the service. I turned slightly to see his wide eyes fixed on mine with something akin to fear. Somehow upon looking at my beloved one, my anger at being forced into this ceremony melted. It wasn't his fault at all – he was as much a victim of circumstance as I was. But still, deep inside I was extremely happy for us reaching this point right now. Arthit was becoming officially mine now...Finally.

"Yes," I told him bluntly as his face fell. "However, since you're looking so lovable, it's okay now."

He blinked in surprise, then a small shy smile appeared on his face. After seeing him so happy to be with me, I couldn't keep my eyes away from him for the rest of the ceremony.

Until, the priest turned to me and my heart threatened to beat out of my chest. "Mr Kongpob Suthiluck, do you take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband and promise to love and cherish him in illness and in health?"

"I do." I said quietly, but clearly. Gosh, I felt so damn proud of this moment.

"And Mr Arthit Rojnapat, do you take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband and promise to love and protect him in illness and in health?"

"I do," Arthit's hand was slightly trembling, but his soft reply was clear.

"Now I pronounce you...married."

We had agreed beforehand that there would be no "Now you may kiss" kind of nonsense because neither Arthit nor myself were the demonstrative type.

We simply exchanged rings, and then I took his hand and kissed it softly as I whispered "I love you" only for him to hear.

The bright smile on Arthit's face was most beautiful one I had seen yet.

I took his hand and proudly walked down the aisle to the sound of everyone's excited cheers and congratulations. After that, everything else was a blur, the reception and the photo-taking sessions with our families and friends went by in a blink. Our friends all looked really happy for us, with the exception of Jessica and Max. Somehow, I secretly admired that guy for being respecting enough to turn up for our wedding. In his shoes, I doubt that I would have done the same. And I knew Arthit was very happy to have his childhood friend here to support him, so I was glad that Max kept it civil through the ceremony. He was a good guy and I wished him all the best and find his own happiness in the future.

Finally, everyone left and I heaved a sigh of relief when I found myself alone with Arthit for a moment when our parents went to get the car. To my surprise, I saw an unfamiliar smug expression on his face.

"Kongpob Suthiluck, have you liked me from a long time ago?"He looked at me with a knowing expression on his face.

I frowned in disbelief, "Why on earth are you suddenly asking me such a question?"

He leant a little closer to me, smiling way too slyly, "I know about our second kiss. Daniel told me all about it."

My frown intensified, that brother of mine should have known better than to tell Arthit... However, the flow of my thoughts was interrupted as Arthit suddenly grabbed me by my tie, pulled me forward and pressed a soft kiss to my lips.

"There, this is what you deserve for not telling me about your feelings sooner." There was a mischievous sparkle in Arthit's, no, my husband's eyes. My baka turned my husband...my Arthit.

Almost automatically, I slipped an arm around his waist and pulled him closer, "I've loved you for a very long time. Are you satisfied now?"

And the huge smile on Arthit's face was enough to warm my heart. He nodded slyly, resting his hands on my chest.

"I'm really married to you now aren't I?" I asked as if in disbelief as I caressed his cheek softly and kissed the tip of his nose.

"Yes, you are stuck with me forever now!" He chuckled in playful reply and slid his hand into mine as we both walked out of the church, my arm still holding him securely against my side.

Yes, we really were finally married for forever, I thought to myself as I felt my heart soar with happiness.

And I will never let Arthit go...
